Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Day 3 or whatever

[Aang is fluttering back to the village with a bit less energy when he's been using the previous days. It's been easy to ignore the minor injuries, the scrapes and cuts and bruises, that have accumulated during his daredevil stunts in the more obscure parts of the enclosure - the sense of fun and wonder overrode the minor pains, after all.

But then he wound up taking a nosedive into a tree - emphasis on the "nose". And the result was him doing the flying equivalent of limping while covering his bleeding nose with one hand, looking for some kind of healing or bandages. So he can go right back out there, of course.]

[Now this is what Nala lives for. Finding people stumbling around in pain.

Raine is perched on top of one of the shops in the village when she notices a figure flying low and very poorly, an immediate sign of something being wrong. That's when she moves into action, using her own wings to lift her off the building and to glide safely down to the ground a few feet from the approaching teen. Recognition settles in; it isn't as if there are many young bald monks in the enclosure.]

Aang... please stop. You're hurt.

[Aang comes to a halt immediately. He's not too keen on stopping, on standing still. Not when he could be having fun. But he definitely has to get this taken care of first, at least.]

Oh... Hey, Raine! [He says nasally, with his hand still over his bloody nose.] I think I need a bandaid.

Goodness, look at you. You need far more than a bandaid. [She shakes her head a little.] And to get washed up, besides.

Oh, I'll be fine! [He tries to wave it off.] But going for a swim could be really fun! [Not the same as having fun in the air, but he could have make some fun waves while he washes himself.]

[wise_maiden]

No, not a swim. Not until your wounds are all sealed properly, and the blood gets cleaned off. If you get an infection, you won't be able to have as much fun, you know.

Oh... okay! [He frowns.] I definitely don't want an infection... Should I get someone to help me?

[wise_maiden]

... That's what I'm here for, Aang.

[savedtheworld]

You are? [He perks up and holds out his arms.] Thanks, Raine!

[wise_maiden]

You're welcome. [Already, there's an off-white glow forming around her hand as she holds it over his wounds.] It won't take long, but please, find somewhere to step inside and clean the blood off of you afterward.

[He gives a nod.]

I will. I guess I could use a little more of a break.

[wise_maiden]

Honestly, you've probably been nonstop since this all started. Just because you can fly around and do things on a whim doesn't mean you should neglect everything else.

[savedtheworld]

Well... Maybe I've been flying a lot, but I don't think I've been neglecting that much. [Okay, well he's probably been skipping school and not spending as much time at the Welcome Center or bakery.] It's - it's just for a little while.

[wise_maiden]

You don't even know what it is, do you?

[savedtheworld]

What... what is?

[wise_maiden]

Your ...

[There's a long pause, a brief internal conflict. Not that he'd be able to tell.]


... Never mind. I need to heal you. [And with that, she'll just start focusing again, then lets the glow flow over him as she concentrates.]

Okay! [He holds his arms out with the sleeves rolled up fairly habitually, having been through quite a few healings throughout his life since the iceberg. As aware as he is of the wings and his enhanced powers, he hasn't put much thought into the root of it all. It doesn't help that Kipinn's "voice" is one that is almost like an amplification of Aang's own.]

[wise_maiden]

[A few moments pass. Once his arms heal, the glow gently spreads to attend to some of his more hidden scrapes and wounds.]

[And he holds out his legs and such as needed, going through the whole routine. It's a lot like a kid being reluctantly patched up his mom.]

[wise_maiden]

[The kind of mom who wishes her children could function in protective bubbles but then she wouldn't be able to fuss over their boo-boos so it's all good anyway.

Eventually she lets the glow fade, though she still checks him for any visible scrape she might have missed.] ... There. That's better.

Thanks Raine! [He gives a cheery smile and rubs at his head.] I feel loads better now!

I'm glad. You'll be more careful now, won't you?

[savedtheworld]

Sure thing, Raine. I'll make sure to take better care of myself. [Maybe he'll even remember to clean himself off.]

I'm counting on you.

[Visibly, her wings have started to droop a little - signs of her tiredness beginning to show.]

[He's about to turn to leave when he notices the drooping - and Kipinn's carefreeness is ignored for the moment.]
