Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Loki rolled his eyes. "Please. You have wants other than that. Humans are short term creatures. It is in your nature. So I know you must want other things. Chocolate. Or sex. Those sorts of things are what will save you from breaking yourself to pieces against a wall."

"Are you offering?" She blinked across the table at him, brow quirked. "Rogue would have quite a few unkind words to offer if she knew."

Snark. Snark was simpler. Turning things around was simpler- or at least it would be if Loki wasn't an ass and insisted upon turning things right back around twice as hard.

Another eye roll. "Please. You've a nice bit of arse dangling in front of you if you'd let yourself take it, and we both know that. Surtur's balls, woman, you'll drive us both mad."

"...who do you-" Derek. He meant Derek. And she had no response to that other than to lock up mid sip and blink at the far wall as she considered it. Honestly and earnestly considered it. "...he's not- I'm not- we don't. Can't. Won't. He's an ass!"

"I think he's got a dangle to go with the ass, but it is a very nice ass." Loki smirked at her. "And just think, he can't open that stupid mouth of his if you have it doing other things."

"That is beside the point! Why is it your solution to my baggage is for me to go sleep with a man?" She was not blushing, she was not sputtering, but she couldn't choke down any more tea and she absolutely was not thinking about Derek's ass in jeans and his hands and eyes and-

fuck.

No, no fucking. None of that. None of that ever.

"I could suggest a lady or two, but I haven't seen you making eyes at any of them." Loki smirked. "Because it would unwind you before you snap and shower us all with gooey, horrid Adele bits. Let go, Adele. Go do something you want for once." Another smirk. "Someone you want. And the world shall not end, but you'll be marginally less cranky."

"One does not simply proposition a man- and!" She held up a hand because this, this would be her saving grace. "One does not proposition a patient. He is my patient first and foremost and that is unethical on so many levels."

There. She was saved.

"...no matter how much enjoyment might come of it."

Wait what.

"Actually, yes one does and can. It's rather easy." Another eye roll. "Selfishness, Adele. Do try it. If you keep your knickers laced that tight, you're going to cut off the blood flow to some very important bits. But your excuses are rather cute."

"I do not wear knickers!"

Wait.

She really, truly ought to think more about what it is she says when she's arguing with him. Really.

"I am not the one who needs to be privy to that information," he pointed out archly. "Next excuse? For goodness sake, Adele, just let it go."

"You are the one that brought it up." She muttered and slumped in her chair, sipping her tea. Considering. "...it has been at least two years since I had an argument that ended with me naked."

"That sounds like rather a long time if you ask me."

"Being in a relationship with a celibate man and convincing him to be less than celibate isn't conductive to a healthy sex life. Being here isn't entirely conductive to a healthy sex life."

"I don't think healthy is even a point now. Chocolate isn't healthy either, but you mortal women seem to think it's lovely stuff all the same."

"The health properties of chocolate can be debated one way or another- as can the health benefits of regular sexual activity." And no she wasn't possibly looking at this from a health standpoint. At all. But it wasn't healthy to deny herself so much for so long when it wouldn't hurt anyone to just indulge. Would it?
