Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Smoke rings and burned branches mark the spot, as Raine lowers herself at a more careful pace once she sees that the person was able to make a semi safe landing of sorts. The time between the woman's decent and Raine's arrival is definitely more than a few minutes, but eventually her feet lightly touch down on the ground nearby.

That's ...]

Sheena?

I think I might be sick.

[Rendering it that poetically took a lot of effort. "I'm gonna throw up" was how it felt in her head. Trying that ring trick seems to have disconnected her from Eferin for a few minutes though.]

You're dizzy. Keep your eyes closed, and don't try to talk right now.

[And in a few quick steps, she's at her side, already checking for scrapes and bruises from the fall.]

Thanks. I knew that. The dizzy thing.

[There are a few small scrapes. Sheena has been a categorically awful lander so not all of them are from this fall.]

Shh. No talking. I have a canteen on me if you don't have one of your own.

[She goes back to fussing over the scrapes, a pale cream-colored glow appearing over her hands.]

How'm I suppose to answer you if I can't talk?

[That sounded far more irritated than Sheena would usually intend, and her eyes open in a half-scowl half-pout.]

Don't do that stuff. [Even if it feels really soothing and it'll get rid of her aches.]

[Maybe if Raine stopped speaking herself, that would get Sheena to quiet down for her own sake. Besides, she needed to concentrate on healing, which took priority over the advice giving. Her eyes close and she keeps going - doubtless there are other wounds that a small examination couldn't find.]

Aw, come on, that's good enough! I'm okay now! [Bumps and bruises are nothing to regular old Sheena, most of the time, they're even less of an issue now.] Don't use up your energy over stupid things like this.

[She'll ignore her for another long moment more, before withdrawing her hand, drawing in a breath before finally speaking again.] I don't consider it a waste. Did you need that drink?

I don't think so. Could use a shoulder though. [Sitting up is proving to be way too big of a challenge and it's frustrating beyond belief. Once she's up most of the way Sheena holds her head between her hands.]

What happened? I mean, I know what's happening, why we're like this, but...

... I am not certain.

[It almost sounds like an 'I'm not at liberty to say'. Her fervent search for the right answers, for putting two and two together just a few days ago - that is not Nala's concern, and there is no need to excite anyone of Eferin's influence on the matter.]

Let me know when you're ready to stand.

Just now not certain is that? [Every moment of existence with Eferin is already excited. Sheena looks Raine in the eye.] Did you hear something? Are you keeping secrets? [Inflected like there was almost an 'again' at the end of it.]

Calm down, dear. It's nothing I can answer.

Don't call me "dear".

[Just for that, she'll get to her feet all by herself, and cross her arms afterward.]

Ugh, none of this feels right and I don't know where to go for the answers.

... Answers will come, if we wait long enough. Don't they always?

[She seems more concerned studying the way Sheena is standing.] You really should drink something.

Sometimes they come too late.

[She brushes right over that drinking comment, staring back. It's a defiant and stubborn stance, but she also looks lost.]

Perhaps so.

[She holds out the canteen. Surely some common sense will win out over that stubbornness.]

What do I want that water for? [Accompanied by a frown, like she knows she should want it more than she does.] Is it cold?

Because you were feeling dizzy, and being hot-headed isn't going to do you any favors either.

So I was a little dizzy after spinning around a lot! Geez, half the regular time I'm a little dizzy anyway. But fine. [Nothing else would kill the mothering. Sheena snatches the canteen and takes a defiant drink from it.]

Then perhaps you should drink more water. [Her tone remains mild, despite Sheena's grouchiness.]

You've gotta have better things to do than watching me embarrass myself like that.

I wasn't watching you. I just happened to see you fall while I was on my roof.

[Two small fireballs appear and do an x-shaped orbit around Sheena, who grins. Even though she's still annoyed, maybe this'll get Raine off her case.]
