Possession Event

Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.

Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

  • Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
  • Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
  • Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
  • Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
  • Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
  • Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
  • Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
  • Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

    [...Oh. How lame.]

    If we have to.
    systemshock: (Things to say)

I just don't think we'd be able to get a table up here with us, you know?

[This isn't Mary Poppins, okay. Though with the way Robin's acting...]
    teenwonder: (28; I know I'm amazing.)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-30 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I could hover one with magic! I'm getting a lot better with manipulating the wind ever since my wings grew out.
    systemshock: (Whoops)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-30 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
... good idea. You know what? Let's save that for dinner, when we get our floormates together. For now? Regular lunch.
    teenwonder: (34; dude. seriously?)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I guess we can do that. [Sob. That's so mundane.]

What do you feel like having?
    systemshock: (Suspicious)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Cheeseburgers. Nothing like the classics, right?
    teenwonder: (02; boy wonder)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
    Can't argue there.

[And for food, he'll start lowering himself back to the ground.]
    systemshock: (Conspiracy)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
You could, but then you'd be really crazy.

[As he follows Robin down, he momentarily contemplates capturing Robin now and then...

He realizes there's no 'then'. There's no prison that he knows of and he's snot stupid enough to think he can come up with any fool proof way of holding Batman Jr.]
    teenwonder: (15; smiiiiirk)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[If only they'd had that conversation last week! When this is over, Robin's going to have to organize a field trip into the tunnels to show off the jail nobody remembers.]

Do you really think it's crazy, Static? It's probably thr experiment talking, but it doesn't feel like insanity. It's just... Light, you know? It's good to let go. Maybe you should just try playing more often!
    systemshock: (Back there)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you were the one who told me anyone with big wings is gonna go crazy and now you want me to play around?

[These are some seriously mixed signals here, dude.]
    teenwonder: (02; boy wonder)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I was just kidding earlier.

    [Or maybe he wasn't.]
    systemshock: (Suspicious)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[On the ground, Static folds up his flying disc and pockets it.]

... so you're saying there's nothing to worry about, right?
    teenwonder: (15; smiiiiirk)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm saying you're the hero. Figure it out.
    systemshock: (Hate your face)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Last I checked, you were too.
    teenwonder: (Default)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-05-31 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's fairly obvious that I've been compromised. You probably shouldn't rely on my judgment.

[And he's totally okay with that. Though he keeps casting glances skyward because ugh what is all this being on the ground.]
systemshock: (Ain't nobody got time for that)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-05-31 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
... at least you're honest about it.

[He heads into the restaurant, feeling dubious about all of this. Maybe he could magnetize Robin's wings. At least it would keep him grounded.]
    teenwonder: (28; I know I'm amazing.)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-06-01 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
This is a boring topic. [He announces it abruptly, suddenly over the very mention of it.Getting himself seated is much more interesting.]

What kind of burger are you getting?
    systemshock: (Things to say)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-06-01 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
We get to choose? Because I was just going to say 'cheeseburger' and hope for the best.
    teenwonder: (Default)

    [personal profile] teenwonder 2013-06-02 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Depends who's doing the cooking today. Maybe we should get a ton of sides and throw them in the burger when it comes.

I'm starving after all that flying.
    systemshock: (Chillaxing)

    [personal profile] systemshock 2013-06-02 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm down with that. [He grabs the two of them a table by the window. Static wants to know just what the heck is even going on outside.] I wonder if they do those tiny burgers here. You know, for customization purposes.
