Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Okay, maybe he wouldn't be that cruel. But pink is definitely crossing the line here.]

Hmm. You know, I was about to, but now that you've put it like that? [Zatanna's smile widens, and then a moment later? She launches herself upward and away from Static.

Clearly they needed a chase scene.]

[systemshock]

Hey! Don't-- come on!

[NO CHASING. But hey, the nice thing is that electricity is well, pretty damn fast. So he just has to get his aim right as he sends a stream of electromagnetic energy at her to try and lock her in place.]

[noitatnacni]

[OH COME ON CHASING IS FUN. Then again, there isn't much that Zatanna thinks of as not fun in her current frame of mind. And even caught, she isn't helpless; instead she sends a sudden gust of wind at Static, meaning to blow him back.]

[systemshock]

[That succeeds in throwing him off and he loses track of her for the moment. Now he has to actually go flying after her. But he'll just be counting on the fact that he probably has way more experience at this than her.]

[noitatnacni]

[Hey, she's not a first time flier, you know--although yeah, Static definitely has the upper hand with experience, since she doesn't levitate a lot in battle. Still, Zatanna's going to make him work for it, and she immediately dives down toward the village, intending to weave between the houses and the buildings to make this chase really fun.]

[systemshock]

[That's a rookie move. That might work great in the city where the buildings are massive, but when most of them are no more than a story high, it's easy for Static to just fly above her where there's far less obstacles to slow him down. And while she's bottle necked between houses, he crates an electrical wall blocking her up ahead.]

End of the line, Zatanna.

[noitatnacni]

[Aw, but he's supposed to follow her for the sake of dodging the buildings too. Static clearly doesn't understand the way this is meant to work.]

I didn't think you'd stick to doing it the boring way. [She turns to look at him, drawing her legs up so she's sitting in the air.] So does that mean you're the serious one now that Robin's actually having a good time?

[systemshock]

I don't like it any more than you do, but it looks like I don't have much of a choice.

[It SUCKS, but sometimes you gotta make sacrifices.]

[noitatnacni]

Wrong. There’s always a choice. You’re just choosing to be boring. [Which Zatanna doesn’t approve of, for the record.]

[systemshock]

I'm choosing the hero option, which isn't always the fun one.

[Said with a tone of 'you should know that already'.]

[noitatnacni]

Yeah, you're definitely being Robin this week. Oh well. Your loss.

[systemshock]

Look. Don't you find this worrying at all? I mean, would you normally be acting like this?

[noitatnacni]

[Zatanna thinks about it for a few seconds. It’s a very careful deliberation that ends with a shrug of her shoulders.]

Not really. Sure people are acting weird, but it’s fun. And it’s a definite improvement in some cases—like Robin. He actually seems happy for once. What’s wrong with that?

[systemshock]

Because it's not happening normally? This has got supervillain written all over it.

[noitatnacni]

Actually, it’s probably just the Malnosso, which means it’ll go away in a week.

[systemshock]

Or maybe it won't. Besides, superheroes don't just say, "Oh it's probably just the Joker, he'll get bored in a week."

[noitatnacni]

Yeah. Wouldn’t that be great? Robin and I were talking about that earlier. [I’m sorry, were you trying to make a point, Static? Because someone isn’t really paying that much attention.]

[systemshock]

... you guys were talking about the Joker just getting bored. Really. [Okay, well if he was wondering if they were crazy...]

[noitatnacni]

Ha ha. No, we were talking about this lasting more than a week. Maybe forever.

[systemshock]

[Forever. A town full of people flying around. Forever. Virgil cringed.]

... and that'd be bad, right?

[noitatnacni]

Only if you think having fun is bad. [Zatanna’s a fan of fun.]

[systemshock]

... great, I'm really on my own on this one. [Zatanna, Robin. HOPELESS.]

[noitatnacni]

Guess so. But you can handle it, right?

[He's a superhero after all. Still a pink one. He may want to rectify that before Zatanna attempts to fly off again, like she is now.]
