Possession Event
Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.
Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.
As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.
First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:
Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.
How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.
Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.
All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.
They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

All days (Eferin)
It's probably good the fire spirit got a hold first.
She spends the first half day in her apartment. The changing of the wings is just too weird to go out, but after that? She can't really sit still. She has to be doing something.
By the 27th, she's learned she can summon fire. What does that mean? Lots of time in the battledome, working on these powers. Definitely a muttation. She even looks like one. More so than they usually do in this place, at least. She can be found at the 'dome almost any day for the duration of the event.
By the 30th, though, she's figured something else out, too. She can actually fly. It's done in as much privacy as she can find, trying to learn. She's wary, doesn't try to go too high, even once she thinks she has it down. But every attempt makes her just a little bolder.
She avoids her usual haunt of the forest. She remembers the fire in the arena too well, doesn't want a repeat of something that definitely tried to kill her once before.]
29th? (Kipinn)
He hasn't really spoken that much with Clove since the draft, but once he spots her hanging around the dome, he suddenly feels rather compelled to go speak with her.]
Hey, what brings you here?
no subject
Clove flashes a bold smile and holds out her palm.]
This. [At a thought, bright flames flash up in front of her.] I want to learn to really use them.
no subject
So you came here to do more with it? [that makes sense--after a quick second of thought:] Can we watch? I wanna see what else you can do!
no subject
Came to figure out how to use it better, yeah. Figured it was better here than outside. Nothing to catch fire.
[She cocks her head toward one of the training rooms.] Come on.
no subject
So what now? Guess we should make sure to stand somewhere that isn't close enough to get us accidentally caught on fire while Clove's doing her cool flames trick.]
no subject
For now, the plain room will do.]
Okay. Let's see how this works.
[She holds her hand out again, conjuring fire, and moves as if she was throwing a knife. Sure enough, the ball of flame leaves her hands and hits the wall.]
Awesome.
no subject
That is so cool. Wish I knew how to do that myself. [But we got Kipinn, who can't do stuff with fire. Which is probably a good thing, 'cause giving Crow the power to set stuff on fire is just asking for trouble.]
no subject
Now, that is gonna help.
no subject
Help with what? Doing stuff around here?
no subject
no subject
[It was pretty obvious from talking to her during the draft that Clove was used to fighting. Crow on the other hand, the most fighting experience he's had usually involves mostly shooing away feral dogs and other wild animals from bothering him in his world. Or tripping people and being generally annoying.]
no subject
[She smirks a little. Eferin isn't one for pretending to be sweet and innocent, so Clove's Career mask is a thing of the past most of the time. At least while the possession holds.]
Imagine setting their wings on fire. That'd slow 'em down quick.
no subject
[And rather harsh, but he can't help but feel a little impressed at just how far she's willing to go.]
no subject
no subject
Sounds reasonable enough to me.
[ooc: we can continue here at our appointments post to avoid re-captcha stuff as well if you'd like?]
1st day
[Yes, he is pouting. It seems he's...mostly back to normal. Albeit with more humility under his belt but he's still a teenager and definitely still Cato. Sharpening his underused sword is his go-to method of stress-relief. For now it's jealousy-relief.]
How come your wings get bigger - hell, the whole damn town gets bigger wings - but I don't?
[There are a few people whos' wings haven't grown. But he doesn't care about that - he's focusing on him right now.]
no subject
[She flashes a grin. It's better not to tell him about the feeling that comes with the changing of the wings. The quiet whisper in her ear that isn't even words. Just... influence. The urge -- which she's still fighting -- to get out and do something.]
I hope the color stays. It looks so much better.
[Better than gold hiding black with red tips inside. Better than something gilded masking something so dark and dripping with blood. That was what the inside of her wings always made her think of. So much blood.
She leans toward him, sliding her fingers under his chin.]
What do you think?
no subject
Well if they're going to do that. Sharpening his sword is a lot less important now.]
I like it, s'why I'm jealous.
[He's quieter now. Expectant. He even leans up into the small whisper of a tug that her fingers against his chin present. Putty in her hands and he knows it. ]
no subject
Knowing this place, I'm sure there's a bad side just waiting to happen.
[If only she was just kidding. They both know how likely that is, though. That something's going to happen because of this change. Something always does. Or already has.
There's an inclination towards impulse, stronger than she normally has. Still, no reason to fight it, so she doesn't. She leans forward, over him and over the sword, to kiss him lightly, almost playfully.]
no subject
[This is so much more relaxed than he's used to. There always seems to be some kind of tension between them - whether it's just their own shit or whatever they're dealing with that week. This? This is nice.
His hands forget the sword and instead gravitate to her forearm and her cheek. Cato deepened the kiss, wanting to draw her in instead of just letting this be quick and meaningless.]
But we'll manage.
no subject
[She reaches down, shifting the sword out of his lap entirely to kneel down in front of him. Not quite in his lap, but close, returning the deeper kiss.
She knows she... should... tell him about the strange sensation in her head, but it doesn't feel like a bad thing. So maybe there's nothing to worry about.]
no subject
they make him think of that time he told her he wanted to get married.
Both because he was under the influence of whatever weirdness was going on in Luceti. But he wonders if he really meant it. Quite often he wonders.
I just don't want it to stop this time.
Cato makes an attempt to try and pull her into his lap, tugging on her thighs and waist - trying to get it across without breaking apart to talk. Like a normal person.]
no subject
Quietly, she mutters:] We'll be okay. We always manage.
[Even when they fought, even when they finally screamed at one another... nothing changed. Neither of them left, neither of them stayed angry for very long. Because, well, now more than ever... This was what they had. And it was good. Even at the worst moments, this was what she wanted.]
