Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Totally nonplussed by the vaporized water gun here. Cliff returned that grin and shifted his stance, so that his hands were on his hips but he was still able to move if needed.]

Like alotta things with you, right? I don't know too many people that can zip around like you, or fire blasts like that.

[The flight didn't matter to him-- he didn't need it. The ranged attack, however, made him wonder if he could accomplish something similar if he applied enough creativity.]

[misterbrief]

That's right. [That's one compliment he will accept.] The concept is simple Cliff, you did it yourself just now when you attacked me.
[Doesn't he understand? Jeez. He also didn't know Cliff had that kind of power at all, he assumed he was just stronger than a human physically.]

[aerialassault]

Heh. [He ran a hand through his hair-- how was he to explain this one?]

I'm no Master here, Vegeta. I'm just a guy who's trained for twenty-odd years. The Jinju style doesn't have much in the way of ranged skills and Klausians like myself generally don't bother much with Symbology. Some people are just better at it then others, and we really aren't that good.

The only man I know who does have a skill like your's is the one who trained me. But he's a stubborn old bastard, I think he's gonna sit on a few of his secrets till the day he dies.

[misterbrief]

Sounds like someone I'd get along with. [Well, probably not but you get the drift.] How about I let you in on a little secret then. But you've got to do something for me first.

[aerialassault]

[That had Cliff's attention.]

I'm game. What do you need?

[misterbrief]

Do you know a certain irritant named Kirk? If not I'll get a picture of him. All you have to do is punch him right in the gut as hard as you can. [He's really mad at him.] That's provided I haven't killed him by then. And trust me, I'll make it worth your while.

[Paranoia is a powerful tool. He wants Kirk to be very afraid.]

[aerialassault]

[Cliff smirked, already seeing where this was going.]

Oh, you mean that loudmouthed greenhorn who calls himself 'Captain?' I'm sorry you've gotta deal with him.

I pity his crew. My boss is much, much more capable, and she's not even of legal majority yet!

[One conversation with the man, and Cliff had already written him off. Kirk wasn't important enough for him to check back on. Let the kid stroke his own ego and have his own fun.]

How hard do you want it, here? Earthlings don't really stand much of a chance against me.

[misterbrief]

[You are speaking his language. This is why Cliff and Vegeta are friends.]

As hard as you'd like. If you make a couple of vital organs come up in the process I'll show you something really special.

[aerialassault]

I'll make sure to grab someone with a healing Symbol then. Like Fayt, or probably Leon. Or, maybe we could just grab someone with those white wings.

[He was grinning with the wild glee of a predatory hound. He had an idea-- Lights Out!]

[misterbrief]

I don't see why'd you waste the time. Just make sure he hasn't got a clue what's happening or why. He'll learn to control that tongue of his. Understand?

Do this and I'll be more than happy to hold up my end of the deal.

[aerialassault]

Stealth ain't my thing, you know. But, this? The kid isn't qualified to be a captain.

I won't hurt him, Vegeta. But, I can guarantee that I'll scare the crap outta him.

[misterbrief]

I never said to kill him. I want him frightened to leave his house because of an overriding fear that no where in this village is safe for him.

[aerialassault]

Well, it's not if a guy can't be creative enough to make the best of the situation.

[misterbrief]

Be as creative as you want. As far as I'm concerned the ends justify the means. [Besides, he really doesn't want Cliff to kill him. Because he wants to do it if he's going to die.]

[aerialassault]

[Cliff, ever an observant man, understands this.]

Oh. I'll do it alright. How soon?

[misterbrief]

As soon as possible and as often as you please. In fact if you happen to have friends interested I think that would be rather entertaining.

[aerialassault]

Can do! And it'll be just me-- I dunno who else would want to get involved, unless you want Souji to have another target for his pranks.

[misterbrief]

The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. I don't know this Souji of yours but if it suits you and them then I'd say go all out.

[aerialassault]

Great. You'll know the results when they happen then. Did you want me to file report or wait to hear it on the grape vine?

[misterbrief]

I'm sure I'll hear it on my own soon enough. And Cliff- do make it a rather enjoyable story to hear.
