Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

I'm not sure that's the best idea in this particular instance. Do you even know what the actual effects of the bigger wings are?

[She takes most things here with a grain of salt, but she's heard bad things about the big wings.]

But can we trust everything they tell us about the wings' effects? For all we know they can give great advantages that they've been holding back from us...

[Wow, his common sense is taking a nap today. But still, it does make some sense... sort of.]

Wouldn't that be an argument not to trust the wings, since you still can't be sure?

I wouldn't immediately distrust something just because it was unknown. It's all the more reason to try it out and see what happens, if you asked me.

I'm all for scientific progress, but not so much for testing dangerous things on myself.

[She could give him some names of people who deserve it, though, if they were in her world.]

I'm not suggesting we test it out on just anyone, of course. I don't know if most people could handle it. But I'd like to try a few things out, myself.

[And soon, too. It's temporary, and there's no telling how long they might have to deal with it.]

What did you have in mind? [Daria tilts her head, at least vaguely stirred to curiosity. Besides, if his idea is something outlandish, she'd like an advance warning anyway.]

First I want to extensively test out the wings. Then I want to see the limit of what my power can do. You could say I'm burning with curiosity.

...Go ahead and roll your eyes at the bad pun, I know I deserve it.

You do deserve it. [And she does obligingly roll her eyes.]

Now that that's done, I have to admit I'm a little curious, too. Count me in.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear. It's about time. [He sounds oh so impatient about the notion that people have dared be frightened of this whole thing.] Maybe we should start out testing the endurance of the wings first?

Better than jumping and trying to fly first thing. You realize these shouldn't be able to hold us at all, right?

[Of course, there's also plenty to show.... they are.]

I did a little preliminary flight earlier. Though I want to push it a little further, and higher. [Yeah, Mulder is just going to completely disregard the obvious laws of physics and so on.] It's a magical, elemental power, so... I don't see why they wouldn't hold us.

Let's start with the assumption 'magic' is unreliable. I don't want to be a few hundred feet up when that comes crashing down.

I don't want to be hanging out on the ground, cowering in fear of something which prove to be useful.

[He takes off from the ground somewhat, only going a few feet up for now.]

What if it were actually the key to getting out of here, and we missed that chance somehow?

Then I hope you'll manage to find a way to tell the rest of us before you disappear off into the sunset.

Believe me, if I find anything, you'll all find out as fast as I can tell you. Even if I don't find anything... I'm sure there's still a lot that can be learned through experimenting with these wings.

I've heard they seem pretty important and all. I'm not sure they'll be much help in getting out, though, since they sort of show up as soon as we get here. If they were a ticket home, you wouldn't think they'd hand them out at the door.

It would be helpful to know what their true purpose is, though... especially since our own normal wings are so... underdeveloped, compared to these.

They seem to help us in communicating with each other; but that's at our wing size. Larger like this, we just haven't been able to study enough and we just don't have enough data yet.

Yet. That's why we have to find out as much as we can, for however long we'll have them.

I'm willing to help. Do you have a plan in mind to examine them more thoroughly? We could use the equipment at the clinic.

[Admittedly, those kind of plans were always the part he'd hand off to Scully, were she around.]

I'd like to test their limitations, see what they're capable of. I'm sure there's equipment to measure their strength and so on, right?

[He can hand them off to Ami in Scully's absence. She enjoys that sort of thing.]

There should be. I have some ideas about that already. [Or rather, she's mentally inventoried what they can use for that type of experiment.]

[Good, good, because as much as he likes to probe into things, he still needs a good scientist's perspective as well.]

I'd be interested in hearing more about those. We have to take advantage of this opportunity while we can.

Mm. We can go back to the clinc if you want. [She has enough basics there, and the battledome can help her simulate more tests.]

But you know... the wings being like this, if it doesn't last, they might also not be like the Third Party's or anything else right now.

[It might not help them much, in other words.]
