Possession Event

Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.

Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

  • Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
  • Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
  • Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
  • Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
  • Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
  • Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
  • Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
  • Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

    28th?

[Robert's usual gentle affection for Fuuko is even more pronounced than usual, with the deep respect inside him as a result of Tsinku's influence. And with that respect comes an awareness that he ought not to get too close. Even ordinarily, Robert wouldn't want to interrupt.

But would she mind if he embellishes things a little?

Fuuko may notice that her starfish are no longer alone. A burst of electrical sparks - almost a shower - joins her creations, creating minute spheres of glowing ionized air - for just a moment.]

[At first Fuuko blinks a few times and takes a few steps back from her light shapes as the sparks start to fly around. She has to admit the glowing looks very pretty and it compliments her own work very well, even if the sparks caught her off guard at first.

Once the sparks fade, Fuuko starts to look around for the source of them. They couldn't have come from herself after all, she's fairly sure that sort of thing is out of her ability. Eventually she spots Robert, giving him a small smile and a tilt of her head towards the floating light starfish. She's not feeling like the most talkative of people right now, so hopefully her head tilt properly conveys her curiosity as to whether Robert was the one who produced the sparks.]

[They are definitely different, but he's glad for it - somehow, it feels like his newly-minted abilities and these light-manipulating kinds go together just fine.

Once he realizes Fuuko has her attention set on him, he smiles at her in return. The insistent buzzing in his brain makes him feel like he shouldn't speak... but he's not good at picking up Fuuko's unique body language yet, is he?

Maybe it won't matter. Maybe these new powers can talk for him.

Turning his palms skyward, Robert closes his eyes and focuses only briefly - the now-familiar sensation of something commanding him on a deep, basal level takes over, and bright bolts of electricity dance upwards, twisting to form a brilliant halo around the man's head. His hair stands slightly on end, humming with electricity, but somehow it looks beautiful rather than ridiculous. Okay, maybe a little of both.]

[Pfft. Okay, so it looks ridiculous enough that Fuuko can't help but smile. She moves a hand to cover her mouth to hide the smile, or maybe she's laughing silently, it's hard to say. But ridiculous or not, it was certainly an impressive display.

Perhaps she should reply with her own powers in turn? Though part of her wants to just nod and carry on doing her own thing, she isn't the sort to just ignore friends like that. The thoughts about keeping to herself and wandering off get pushed back as Fuuko starts to make more shapes in the air.

An outline of an arrow appears in the air, pointing in Robert's direction. Fuuko moves her hand to lightly tap the arrow, sending it slowly through the air towards Robert. After that last display she knows it was you man, electro-halo or not.

Should the arrow come into contact with anything then it will soon fade away, leaving a misty glow in the air for a moment before vanishing completely.]

fff, I am really sorry I didn't get to this - do you want to move it somewhere?

[Robert doesn't feel bad about Fuuko's laughter, for once - it feels good, like she's laughing with him and not at him. This is further underscored when she begins to engage him with her own powers, and their brightness and beauty are a wonderful combination.

As the arrow floats towards him, Robert's expression turns surprisingly playful, and he directs one of the bolts to touch the arrow's tip. The arrow fades soon after, but not before an orb of electricity resembling ball lightning flits up to greet it before fizzling out.

    This is genuinely enjoyable...]

[It is pretty fun, she has to admit. Well, no she doesn't, since she still doesn't feel like talking right now, but still.

Fuuko watches as her arrow and the ball lightning disappear, smiling to herself as she soon looks over to stare right at Robert. She looks pretty happy, but true to Hyt's nature all she's doing right now is a whole lot of staring. Save for the occasional blink she doesn't do much else, as though she's waiting to see what Robert does next.

    To be continued!]
