Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[ The day after classes are cancelled, Ikki will make a point to locate Raine, either at the shop or at her house, to check on her. Because...well, that's worrying! Raine never cancels classes if she can help it, right? ]

Sifu Raine? [ She's either peering into Raine's office, her shop, or calling from outside. Which is it? ]

[Raine is sitting on top of the flower shop roof, having a light fruit snack to try and help recharge her energy as she observes the area, when the sound of a little person entering the shop and then exiting it while calling her name catches her attention, causing her to carefully pick herself up and flutter slowly and lightly to the ground.

She's not really one for all the flying about - it's just that the rooftops offer more to her range of vision.]

Hm...? Ikki?

[She had forgotten that some of the students themselves had remained normal, but it just seemed better to have them focus on their studies independently with all of the distractions about.]

[ Ikki's eyes widened, but she was more or less used to the big wings at this point. At least, she was getting there.

This was SO unfair!! ]

Oh! There you are. I was just coming to see if you felt okay?

That's very kind of you, Ikki. Though I'm the one who should be asking you that question.

Me? Yeah, I'm okay! My wings aren't changing at all, see? [ It's pretty obvious, but she'll turn to show them off anyway, pouting just a tad. ] Grandpa's got big ones now, though...! I'm kinda jealous.

But you cancelled classes, so I just wanted to be sure you're okay!

You shouldn't be jealous of this. It seems fun and new to you, but ...

[Some people were really starting to get out of control. And she was worried, underneath her too-calm exterior.] ... it's not easy to run a class when so many of the students are distracted, and not showing up... I know you would, Ikki. In fact, if you'd like, we could have a small study session here instead.

...but it's still an experiment. Yeah, I know. Still, at least it doesn't seem to be a bad one, right? I mean, everyone just seems to be sort of different, but they remember everything and all.

[ She's friendly with people from all spirit walks, though, and not being possessed she hasn't managed to trip any spiritual buttons just yet. So. ] I wouldn't mind that! Although I also don't mind letting you do what you were doing - what were you doing? - and I guess you're right. It's kinda hard to concentrate when experiments happen!

... it's not a real experiment. Although I can't explain much about it now ...

[Her own possession would only get stronger when she tried.] And it's fine - I think spending time teaching you is far more productive. [Than watching the square for possible signs of injured people stumbling about.

Pushing that thought aside, shakes her head slightly.] We can sit out here. It's a nice enough day... do you have anything to take notes with?

[ Ikki's eyebrows go up at that, but...she won't push it. In some ways, being in Luceti has taught her a bit of patience. Sometimes, rarely, but - it's there. Ish. ]

Well, I'm okay with it then!! And I have my journal. If I make a private entry, I can take notes in there, right?

[ She's not the best at making filters but it's less "not wanting people to read" and more "not wanting to bug people with various school notes" so even if it gets cracked, it doesn't matter. ]

That sounds fine. If you need help setting it up, I could do that for you.

Really?? That'd be super great! I got shown a little, but I just...I guess I don't use it much, or if I do other people do it for me, so making private entries is kinda hard still, you know?

[ She's just not got a lot to hide. ]

If you don't have a real need for it, it's understandable that you wouldn't know. A lot of people have trouble even after practicing for a while. [Some people could go years without ever really learning a good way to use it.]

I guess I don't really need to talk to people alone, mostly! Or if I do, I find them on my own. [ She'll hand over her journal now, though, happily enough. ] Mostly I talk to my family alone, and we all have dinner together every night so...I don't need a journal for that!

I also prefer to find people in person, but it is convenient at times. [She opens the book to an empty page and begins to set it up.] I saw your Grandpa before, but how are the others in your house doing?

Uncle Sokka and Uncle Zuko and Korra all have the bigger wings. Uncle Sokka has blueish ones, and Uncle Zuko and Korra have reddish ones...The colors all mean different things, right?

[ She's not 100% clear what, but people with similar colors are acting similarly. ]

Yes... they're for the spirits. [Her tone is distracted again.] We've talked about them in class... red is for Eferin, who is tied to fire. Green for Kipinn, of the wind... the blue is for Sona, for water. The spirits have... attached themselves to us, I suppose you could say.

[ That gives Ikki pause. Spiritual possession? ...Well then. And then she looks at Raine's wings, clearly thinking it over. What did that color feel like?

Well, it looked calm, and warm. Something gentle. ]

White's Nala? [ It's a guess, and she looks up for confirmation, although she'll let Raine change the subject if needed. ]

[It's unexpected, particularly for Raine herself, as her expression suddenly brightens considerably at that - the spirit is pleased at being recognized.]

Yes, that's correct. Now you're getting it.

[ She gets a beaming grin back. ]

That's one of the ones Katara talks to! Got it. But then...

[ Counting colors she's seen of big wings, and spirits... ]

...are't there too many colors?

[The smile fades a little.] There's an additional spirit that we didn't realize existed before.

[ ...Huh. ]

...Are they not nice? You seem worried.

... It's not that. The other spirits don't take well to its presence, from distrusting to outright dislike. [She's quiet for a moment.] ... Well, Nala seems impartial, but that's just how she is.

[ Ikki gives her teacher a puzzled glance. ]

...That's weird. I wonder why they don't like it? ...I mean, this is all a bit messy, but there has to be a reason, right?

I wonder if they find the chaos threatening... each of them have their domains. And Hyt... the magic can be used to lengthen shadows, but it can't do anything else with them. Twila can manipulate those shadows. Perhaps she... infringes on their territory, somehow, either intentionally or not.

So...it's like one of those eco things, the ecosystems, and they put in something new and now it's weird?

[ She's...pretty sure that's what you're getting at? ]
