Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[An unsuspecting and white-winged Asch heads into the bakery one day to grab a quick lunch during one of his bar shifts; he hadn't seen Rapunzel or visited the bakery since the possessions began, but he's very in-tune with Nala since this is his second time bonding with her, so as soon as he enters the building he can feel something amiss. Like there's a darkness in the area, a shadow over the place, and everything in his being is crying run, heal, fight. It's a clash of discomfort that manages to keep him in the doorway.]

...Rapunzel?

[degleamed]

[ She glances over when she hears her name, but she feels his presence first. Or, rather, the presence of Nala. His arrival is initially met with a cool glance, but eventually she smiles, beckoning him to come in further. ]

Asch! Hello. It's wonderful to see you. [ It was, no matter how the spirit in her disliked those words. ]

[dissonates]

[He wonders if it really is, though she sounds sincere enough. There's something chilling about her presence that he's never felt before.

Those wings, though... that explains everything. He shudders, but against his better judgment - and the voice of the spirit again - he steps fully inside.]

...Same to you. Is everything alright?

[degleamed]

[ She levels him with one of her perfectly cheery smiles. ]

Absolutely! I feel great. Is there something I can get for you today?

[dissonates]

[Wow, everything in him is pretty much screaming at him to not trust that smile at all. He's distracted as he answers, unable to take his eyes off her wings.]

I... a few pastries, maybe? I'm just here for lunch.

[degleamed]

[ A few? Goodness, someone's greedy. ]

Oh? That will certainly cost you! What do you have to offer?

[dissonates]

...Excuse me?

[Why does everything have a price tag today?]

[degleamed]

[ Did she stutter?? ]

I didn't mumble, darling. If you'd like something today, you had better be prepared to trade.

[dissonates]

[D-darling...]

Since when does everything have a price on it?

[Seriously, this is the second time this has happened. Does being possessed by Twila just turn everyone into greedy capitalists?]

[degleamed]

Since I was enlightened! I was really giving too much away here, so it only stands to reason that i start charging for my goods.

[dissonates]

[Yeah, that doesn't sound like Rapunzel at all.]

I think that's less enlightenment and more like greed.

[degleamed]

[ An unpleasant smiles twists on her lips. His disapproval hurt, and Twila didn't like that. But Rapunzel really cared what Asch thought, and if he thought she was being greedy...

They wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the pastries. ]

If you just came here to get something, you're going to leave if I don't give it to you, aren't you? That's all you're here for.

[dissonates]

[His eyes narrow at that, but instead of turning back, he takes a step forward. Nala's not happy about it, but screw the spirit. This is important.]

I'm here to check on you.

[Not originally, no- but she's obviously not doing well, behaving like this.]

[degleamed]

[ She tenses as he steps towards her, a hasty apology almost passing her lips - but she holds it in. Twila strokes her nerves, and reminds her not to get too emotional. He was a customer, just like everyone else. ]

Then you'll be pleased to know I'm well. There, will that be all?

[dissonates]

[Wow, did he just get dismissed? Sure sounds like it. And she definitely doesn't sound well, either. At least, not well the way she ought to.

Ignoring said dismissal, he steps closer to examine her products, feigning interest. He needs to learn more before this is properly dealt with.]

Just what kind of payment are you after?

[degleamed]

Well, I am rather fond of jewelry, but I'd like some more musical instruments and other trinkets to add to my collection. I can be paid in labor, as well. I'm flexible.

[dissonates]

[...this is the weirdest conversation, but okay.]

I can cook decently. If I prepped a few recipes, would that be enough?

[degleamed]

[ She remembered baking with him before, and he had done decent work. Hmm... ]

I suppose. But you won't get paid until you've completed your work to my satisfaction. Understand?

[dissonates]

...Hmm.

[well, he'll see how long he - or rather, Nala - can tolerate working in close proximity to someone possessed by Twila. Besides an uneasy stir, so far he has a decent hold on her, so it should be alright...]

Fine. Just show me what you want me to do.

[degleamed]

[ She sighs. What a burden she must bear. ] Alright. First, I need you to bake a shortcake. [ She shuffles around a moment, before holding out a card to him. ] Here's the recipe. Wash your hands and grab an apron off the back rack.

[dissonates]

I can do that.

[It's discomforting to be that close to her - even just to take a recipe card - but he pushes the feeling aside, moving to do as she asks while still trying to keep an eye on her. He has a good memory of the bakery, so he'll get started right away.]

[degleamed]

[ She quiet as she continues to work as well. Being in the kitchen with him makes her feel unsettled, and Twila isn't particularly fond of it, either. ]
