Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[That was all the encouragement she needed to send a fireball straight into the sky with the same motion someone might use to throw a baseball.

...Hopefully she wouldn't set anything on fire doing this.]

[who cares if it did set fire to something what's important was that it was awesome]

That was so awesome! [now he wants to show off too!!] Hey, what do you think of this trick? [he then proceeds to send outward a gust of wind in the direction of that fireball, strong enough to cause the trees to sway and scatter some leaves around, before he turns his attention to Jane]

What d'ya think? Pretty cool, right?

Well, that's a start. [Sorry Crow, she wasn't too impressed.]

Keep it up, someday you'll learn to be as great as me! [And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, she reached out to give him a pat on the head. Damn it Eferin!]

[Crow frowns slightly at that, feeling a little disappointed for a second that it didn't seem impressive enough--but then his expression changes to surprise when she suddenly pats him on the head. Normally he would have immediately swatted her hand away, but he doesn't really think to do that, almost pouting in response instead.]

Maybe it's not as great as your trick yet, but I'm sure I can get it working better sooner than just "someday"...

[Unfortunately, his almost-pout only made her grin. In fact, for a moment she was considering patting him on the head a second time.]

Yeah? And how much sooner is that? Later today? Tomorrow?

Oh, definitely before tomorrow, that's for sure.

[Yeah right.]

Good, but you have to show me when you do, got it? I won't take no for an answer!

[With that said she flew up to the nearest tree branch and took a seat. Why? Because she could, of course.]

Fine, I will!

[In fact he's willing to get to work on this right now, by attempting to get some wind blowing through here. However, the power isn't as great when down here on the ground, so after a moment of thought, he flies up to the very top of the tree across from where Jane is sitting. The wind becomes much more noticeably stronger now as a strong gust of wind shakes a flurry of leaves flying loose from that poor tree.]

Ah!

[Oh dear! That certainly was a far cry from his previous effort. In fact, it was such a far cry that she held down her skirt just to be safe.]

If you're going to make the wind blow, make it blow somewhere far away from me!

[Okay, okay, but he does grin a little cheekily.]

See? Told'ya I could make it even better! [Before tomorrow, even.]

Hmph... Don't tell me you want a medal or something now.

[Unfortunately she didn't share his enthusiasm. Clearly she just needed some cheering up!]

Are medals shiny? [Crow...but after a moment he grins.]

Anyway, your fire trick is still really cool. [Probably even cooler than his stuff since he just blows things around with the wind...] You can set stuff on fire while flying around too, right?

They usually are... [There was also the problem of not having anything that even resembled a medal.]

I'm sure I could! I just haven't tried it yet, that's all!

I will, then! [And with that, off she went! Still, apparently setting something on fire wasn't on the menu right then, because she opted for throwing the biggest fireball she could at the barrier above.

Of course, it didn't do much of anything, aside from tiring her out to a dangerous degree.]

Ugh.

[Whoa that was cool--wait.]

Huh? What's wrong? [Are you okay?]

N...nothing. I'm just fine!

[Except she didn't look fine at all. If she could just make it to that tree...!]

You don't look "fine" to me. [NOT THAT HE CARES...?? Well no actually there is a part of him that's a little concerned, so without really thinking he reaches out to try to help. Either a push or a pull of her hand, whatever it takes that would help her over to the tree so that she can rest for a second. (Although he may be a little unintentionally forceful with that attempt to help...)]

[Oh dear, this wasn't going to end well, was it? Whichever method he used would be more than enough to get her over there, since she didn't exactly have the energy to resist. One thing was for sure though, either way she was going to be crashing into something, whether it was the tree or otherwise.]

Oof! You didn't need to go that far...!
