Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[The ability to fly under his own volition has quickly lost its novelty to Albert; though he is still rather inexperienced with flight, he sees no reason to do so for the moment -- especially when he can hop and flit across the plaza rooftops without too much effort.

When he sees Freyjadour, he immediately notes the wings that indicated the presence of Nala. He strolls over, looking down the young man calmly.]

I suppose you could call it that. [He stands, stretching the white wings a little as he does. While flying was preferable to walking with the size and weight of the wings weighing down his gait, Freyjadour was also still rather inexperienced as well in that regard. Both mode of transportation felt odd, in their own ways.

He takes in the sight of the black wings, the dark shapes of them looming behind Albert giving the older man a slightly more intense bearing than before. Albert had always been the type to have a quiet presence to him, but this seemed different, somehow.] You as well, I hope?

[chikaidestroyer]

[He allowed a faint smirk when he saw those wings flex and stretch. There was not much to note yet from Freyadour's answer, so he would have to do a little more probing.]

I suppose, considering the circumstances. You are aware of the spirit who has connected with you?

[falenandawn]

[The smirk is not lost of Freyjadour, and he wonders vaguely what is amusing. Admittedly, the wings were fascinating. He smiles slightly in response to Albert's question, tucking his wings against his back again.] I am. I've known Nala since my first few months here in Luceti.

[The first spirit he'd contacted, and the one he'd sought out the most in his time here. Nala was familiar presence, though never before in such a way as this.] She is a gentle presence.

[A gentle presence. But easily one of the more influencing, with her insistence to help others. That knowledge amuses him as he watches the prince tuck his wings into place again.]

She encourages the desire to help others. It is not surprising she has found a home with you.

[falenandawn]

[While the implication that he was easily possessed wasn't as welcome, the words themselves were as if a compliment, and it drew a far nicer reaction. He did enjoy helping others.] I suppose. But I have yet to find anyone who needs help much yet. All the better, I suppose, that this has not been necessary.

I suppose it depends on the manner of assistance needed. [Even as he says that, he flexes his cursed arm contemplatively.]

Have you healed with Nala's power before, Prince?

[falenandawn]

I have. [He looks a little curious at the question, wondering why Albert would ask. Three years in Luceti had made for good practice with the filial magic, at times. Then again, he did have his runes... but Nala's magic was useful when used wisely. He always chose to conserve his rune magic if possible.] Why do you ask?

[chikaidestroyer]

Something of a preemptive, though I doubt it is all that necessary with these spirits where they are. [He's rather nonchalant in explaining himself, as Twila keeps him focused on the end goal of it all.]

There is something in particular I would like your assistance with. It requires a rather dedicated healing effort.

[falenandawn]

Something in particular.....? [That was rather alarming. He had never known Albert to get in the way of danger, but that gets a quick, discreet glance run over him by Freyjadour nonetheless, his worry magnified by Nala's innate desire to help.

He didn't seem injured, so recent chaos had not put him in harm's way.] What exactly did you need assistance with?

[With little more than a faint upturn of the lips, Albert goes about tugging off his glove and exposing the blackened skin underneath. He has to roll up his sleeve to show more of the cursed skin, but he allows Frey to see that much.]

This. So far, Nala's magic has been the most effective counter to this ... curse.
