Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[ The flash gives her just enough warning, her guard already up since she knew she was starting to play her hand.

By the time the beams shoot forth, Saten's entire body has already turned the same pitch black as her wings. The beams pierce it easily, but the darkness slowly dissolves away, revealing that Saten isn't hidden beneath it.

It takes a couple seconds before the sound of her laughter starts, and soon after she steps out of a nearby shadow, back to being a short distance away as if nothing had happened. ]

No need to take it so seriously. I was just joking.

[ She wasn't just joking. And that wasn't one of Twila's powers. ]

[He's not going to believe her for a second, of course, but he smiles back at her anyway.

That part, at least, is Isamu. If he's going to be creeper central then he's going to have a little fun with it.

He tilts his head again, as though curious about how she'd transported herself.]

[ She doesn't pick up on the question. Or if she does, she ignores it. ]

Do you do that a lot?

[ There's just the slightest hints of accusation in her voice. It's mean to try to attack innocent people who are just out for a bit of fun, after all! ]

[The young man shrugs his shoulders. The only person he cares to have up in his personal space like that right now is Richard, and even that comes with its own set of regulations.

He holds both hands up in a placating gesture. She simply got too clse, is all.]

[ Oh, if that's the only problem, she can rip off his wing from far away, too!

But that's not the actual goal. Just a bit of friendly antagonizing. ]

Only to me?

[There's a pause, then Isamu nods slowly.

He doesn't mean her, though. He means her.]

[ Hyt so meeean ]

Do you hate me that much?

[ How could you hate this face? ]

[Isamu shrugs at that.

It's strange, because he's torn between intense dislike and really just not caring.

And she is cute. Isamu can acknowledge that.]

Hm? Then why just me?

[ Well, she has a really good idea why, but asking anyway for the fun of it. ]

[He's sure she must know, but all the same she'll have her answer.

He darkens the area around him, drawing the light away. Behind him, his wings appear to turn black. He mimics Twila's abilities with a frown.]

Are you afraid of darkness?

[Isamu shakes his head as the illusion disappears.

Not frightened, no. Wary.]

Then there's no reason to hate me.

[ A gross oversimplification, and though the logic is being given to her by Twila, even Saten knows it. ]

[He holds his arms out in a shrug again.

Possibly not. But since when did people have to have a logical reason?]

Would you still hate me if I weren't darkness?

[That too gets a shrug.

He doesn't exactly know what she's like without Twila's influence, does he?]

[ About the same, actually.

But she laughs softly at that. ]

You really don't talk at all.

[He can, but rarely does with Hyt now possessing him. She's just not important enough in his books.

At her laughter, he just smiles again. He's not even apologetic for his lack of proper responses.]

Would you have screamed if I'd torn off your wing?

[ She's curious. ]

[He frowns at her. As if he's going to answer that!]

[ But inquiring minds! ]

I'm just asking. I'd do it if I really wanted to know.

[At that, Isamu's shoulders shake with silent laughter.

He kinda wants to fight her, but another part of him can't be bothered.]

What's funny?

[ that would go so ridiculously poorly, sob ]

[He doesn't feel like asking her out loud, so he just chuckles some more.

Her casual claims that she could hurt him (even if she probably could) are amusing.]

You won't even tell me that much?
