Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[This time the blond lifts a hand, conjuring up a current of wind, then leaps into the air to catch it and let it just push him along while he glides, wings outspread. Another motion of his hand and the wind gusts harder, sending him gliding faster.

It's flying, without any of the work. Surely Isamu will be interested in that.]

[It's nothing Kipinn shouldn't be able to do, which (through Hyt's influence) means Isamu doesn't much care.

He'll watch anyway, just so Richard knows he has his attention.]

[Richard glides around the building a few times before finally landing once more, glancing over at his friend's face.

Still no spark of interest, and now he's beginning to get frustrated.]

Isn't there anything you would like to do?

[Isamu takes a moment to think about it, then beckons for Richard to come closer.]

[Curious, the king does as Isamu beckons, wondering what his friend has in mind.]

[Isamu flaps his wings, and in one quick move grips Richard's shirt at the bottom and pulls the front of it over his head, flipping over the man as he does so to land on the other side.]

[That... is definitely a squawking sound Richard makes as he suddenly finds himself unable to see and tugged off balance, arms windmilling as he attempts to keep from toppling over backwards due to the added weight of the larger wings throwing his balance off. Of course, they also mean Isamu won't be able to tug the shirt off over the wings, but that isn't really Richard's primary concern right now.]

[It's a good thing he isn't trying to get it over his wings, then. Just his face and head.

Isamu stands behind him, smiling and shaking with silent laughter.]

[Watch out, Isamu, because Richard might just be about to topple over onto you no thanks to the shirt over his head making his lack of balance even worse...]

[That's alright. Isamu will just step aside.

Plenty of space to land now, your majesty.]

[And over he goes, landing on his back with a thud. At least the wings cushion the fall somewhat, but he's still got that shirt over his head... how very undignified.

However, once he's on the ground, he just sort of... lies there, not doing anything or even moving at all.]

[Laying there with his stomach exposed, then?

That just means Isamu will have to reach out with one wing and tickle the exposed skin with the end of it.]

[Richard's first reaction (after making another very undignified sound) is to reach for the offending object, meaning that if Isamu doesn't move that wing away, Richard is going to be grabbing onto it and giving it a tug.

Hey, fair is fair!]

[Oho! Try and grab it. He dares you.

In the meanwhile, he'll be moving it here and there, tickling again whenever he finds an opening.]

[Oh, he is trying! He is trying his best, but that would probably be more effective if he paused long enough to pull his shirt back down.

Doing so would just leave him open to more horrible things, however, so he is making a strategic decision to not stop grabbing for that wing at the moment.

Of course, everything would be a lot easier if he could just stop laughing...]

[Isamu considers this a win, so he'll eventually give up and let Richard tug on the end of his wing a bit.]

[Once he gets a hold on it, he's going to be attempting to tug Isamu off-balance and down to the ground too.

It's not fair if he's the only one who ends up flat on his back in all of this, okay.]

[Ow. Wing tugging hurts. :|

Rather than falling over, Isamu plops down next to his friend with something of a huff.]

[Once he realizes that wing is no longer attempting to cause him death by laughter, he reaches up to pull his shirt back down and then looks over at Isamu, unable to hide a smile.

All of this has just reminded him of something, and now he has a perfect opportunity to check it out. Hold still, Isamu, because he's going to be sitting up and then scooting around behind you.

Once there, he just pauses for a moment, studying his friend's new larger wings. Oh, sure, he's looked at his own in the mirror by now, but it's not that easy to get a good look at something that's attached to your own back.]

[Isamu doesn't move, just watches Richard out of the corner of his eye as he goes around him. His wings give a little twitch once, but otherwise hold still.]

[They really are impressive up close, with glossy feathers far larger than the ones on their regular wings. Like angel wings, almost, though that isn't a word he would usually think to apply to Isamu.

Slowly, he reaches out one hand to run it over those feathers, just to see what they feel like.]

[That causes the wings to twitch a little more in irritation, though they aren't quite as sensitive as his normal wings would be just with a touch like that.

Isamu will lineface through the whole thing, but he's not going to stop Richard if he's curious.]

[Good, then don't mind Richard just sitting there and petting them for a little while, because they're also a different texture than the normal feathers-- a bit softer, somehow.

It's probably too much to ask that the wings stay like this, though, as much as Richard likes it.]

[This is getting a little annoying, so Isamu pulls his wings tightly around himself and leans back into the other man with a yawn.

It's a bony cushion, but it might work.]

[SUDDENLY FACE FULL OF FEATHERS WHAT IS GOING ON--

-- oh, Isamu is leaning against him. That's okay, he guesses, though it's kind of boring and means he can't go anywhere for a while. But if it makes Isamu happy, then the side of him that's still his normal self won't object to it.

He shifts around a little to find a more comfortable position so that those wings aren't right in his face, one hand still petting that wing. (Hah.)

Lean away, Isamu, he's okay with this.]
