Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[It's an epic staring contest already, a battle of wills and of wits. Perona's not even sure why she's getting so much pleasure, and this much sickness, from being close to Law right now, but it's fun. The thrill of possibly getting a rouse out of the Supernova other than what he's so ferociously concealing is exhilarating.

Though that haki he's smothering himself in is very, very annoying. She can't do much when he's so guarded, not with her negative hollows at least.]

I know a good doctor. [She sticks her tongue out with a none-too-subtle wink, before closing the distance between then completely and picking carefully at his sleeve. It's so tempting to reach out and grab a fistful of those revolting feathers and pull, but she doesn't dare. Perona's not looking for a fight, just a bit of fun.] Eeeh...so guarded you are, Mr. Law. Are you afraid of me? That's so mean...I wouldn't ever hurt you.

Do you... well, I know what he might prescribe.

[So foolish. She's poking a tiger with a stick. Paramecia they both are, and both know that the fruit of that class can have many related abilities. He knows she has more up her sleeve - so does he. And they aren't all related to his ability.

He tracks her hands, carefully.

Very close, and there's no missing the tension wracking his frame as she touches him. She'll figure it out sooner or later. He leans closer, to purr in the shell of her ear.]

Tell me, what's common wisdom say about our kind? The golden rule.

[The two of them may, at this point in time, find a small rain cloud suddenly and rapidly taking shape above their heads. Just as quickly, it starts to pour on both of them.

A certain ninja appears from a gathering of mist, watching them calmly.]

Let's not do unto others today, please.

26th - Order is Itachi, Perona, Law?

[It's not her hands that are moving, though. Her wings were the ones creeping around herself and the Supernova, making an attempt at encircling the good doctor in a blanket of feathery black - shadow trickling close behind. Until all pull back at the sudden downpour of rain, including Perona herself, with a little shriek of surprise. What the h--urgh!

Her wings come over her head like a shield, and she fumbles to get her parasol open before her hair gets any drippier. Stupid man! That was completely uncalled for!]

Aaah! What were you thinking, doing that to a lady?! You've ruined my hair and clothes! [And her plans to tug away your significant other, but we'll omit that part, yup. Anyway, sticking her tongue out at you, Itachi.] Stupid!

26th - Order is Itachi, Perona, Law

[Never trust a pirate.

So that's her play.

The light around him begins to brighten as his wings spread to catch hers. But there's a faltering within as Hyt is knocked dangerously off balance by the pirate desperate to prevent bloodshed, and it's really a very cunning move by Twila after all to try and establish a presence in Law. Force the man into a frenzy to throw Hyt out and sneak in that way for a three way battle. No.

This must be ended, the compulsion of light says. The light sharpens.

Then there's rain, and instinct has Law winging back, uncaring of being wet. An unholy stare is boring into Perona.

Oh, they all know what was just pulled.]

What can I say? He knows what is his.

[Not Hyt's. Not Twila's. Not Sona's. Not anyone else's. Itachi's.]

[Well now that's just making him sound possessive.

He doesn't argue the matter, though.]

My apologies. I doubt either is ruined, however.

[He could easily pull the water free, but he won't. Instead, the ninja lays a hand on Law's shoulder to gently pull him back.]

[Bastards, both of them. Perona takes Law's stare unblinkingly, but most of her focus is on Itachi. Her body language is stark - her muscles are tense, her own eyes are fierce and hot. She was so close, and she was actually having fun, too! Then it all ended because of this man. How frustrating... Perona doesn't like not getting her way, and she hates it even more when someone stands in the way of that. She can't take them both, that's something she's fully aware of, but she can at least, hopefully, teach Itachi a lesson not to mess with her again.

Law has his haki to protect him, but does this one have anything to protect him? She has no idea, and it's a risky shot to take, but she just doesn't care.She wants to win somehow, something. Perona wants to get the upper hand between the two - even if it's stupid and not thought out entirely. But again, she just doesn't care enough to think. She wants the pleasure for herself, by making one of them suffer.]

...I'm afraid I can't forgive you, Itachi-san. That really wasn't very nice at all, what you did.

[And with a sweep of her hand through the air, a hollow flies out, cackling, toward the ninja.]

[He's pulled back, and though the hand is firm on his shoulder, Law doesn't know if this is genjutsu, a shadow clone, or the real deal yet. He reaches out with Haki to confirm what he does suspect.

Itachi is never thoughtless in situations like this.

His Haki armor only thickens as the air snaps between them, crackling literally with tension made manifest. Her words thunder in Law's ears and before it happens, the image of what's to come snaps in his mind eye.

A hollow streaking out right for Itachi.]

He isn't the one who should be asking for forgiveness.

[Which cuts it for the fight within him. Turning on Itachi is the perfect way to stop Law and Hyt quarreling.

The hollow is unspeakably fast though, and Law's reaction times so far have been dulled by his mental war. Hit or miss, however, the pirate is now moving out of the way to attempt to give space for Itachi to dodge, Room starting to snap to life.]

Law.

[Itachi's voice is cold, and it comes from behind the pirate.

The mist clone the hollow is flying at will dissipate as soon as it hits it. The one speaking is a clone too, but the message is the same. He'd prefer to avoid as much violence right now as possible.

Perona will have more to deal with soon, as ice starts forming around her hands and feet.]

[When Law moves is when Perona does, too. Time to go, is practically screaming in her ear, among other curses and screams that seem so very distant, and when the Room goes up, everything but her fight or flight response is dulled down to nothing. Perona, and Twila more than anything, is more than ready to leave these two behind completely - she's had her fill of tempting their hands enough. It was all in vain, too, she got nothing, and it absolutely infuriates her. She grits her teeth together, but does nothing more than try to escape.

But that's going to be difficult, when her feet are frozen to the floor. What in the--?! How did...when did he do that?! As her wings flap furiously in a desperate attempt to get airborne, Perona's eyes begin to fill with fear, and pain (the ice encasing her hands hurts like nothing else). Shit, shit, she went too far, and now she has to deal with not one, but two angry spirits hosted in two very powerful bodies! Damn it all!]

Let...l-let me go! I'll leave you alone, both of you, I promise!

26th

[Law doesn't look back, just stares ahead with a baleful look, unmoving, lifeless seeming even. Then his head turns, and he tilts his head at Itachi.

You really trust what she's saying?

He gives the whole scene a wary look, not liking it. But alright, fine. He's not giving ground, though. Or turning his back. It would be weak. It would be completely inappropriate. He and she are pirates, they don't present weakness to each other...

His head starts to pound. Spirit. What... what is he doing? Great seas, what does he have to do to make his head his own again?

She attacked Itachi.

... he's already taken his own payment for that with the ice.

The Room drops, and his face remains impassive, betraying none of the pain and upheaval in his mind, though he's still ready to act at a moment's notice. His finger points.

Then go. He won't stop her.]

[The ice falls away from Perona. He doesn't really want to fight her. More importantly, he doesn't want Law fighting her either.]

Once again, I apologize.

[To both of them, really. Though if she does attack again he will respond in kind. They should have enough control over themselves to avoid this spiritual conflict.]

We do not need to fight here.

[This also, of course, is directed at them both. When they're away from here, Law, they should go someplace quiet for a while.]

[The moment the ice crumbles away to nothing, Perona rubs her wrists and hands gingerly. She doesn't know how he did that, but she's not going to stick around to find out. Out of sheer self preservation, she'll make good on her words and keep away from the two of them, like she said. Perona doesn't understand Itachi's powers, and half of her wants to keep an eye on him, observe them from a distance, and--

Shut up.

Her brow knit together, and her head bows a little at Itachi's apology. What's he apologizing for? Is he making fun of her?! She doesn't need his apology! Chewing her lip angrily, her glance moves from Itachi to Law and back again, and for a moment, her anger melts away from anger and irritation to unease and uncertainty. It doesn't last long, though, and the moment her frustration flares up again, Perona spreads her wings wide and soars up high into the air. The moment she's sure she's out of the men's range of attacks, she arcs her flight pattern and heads far from them without another word.]
