Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[She's not sure what she's feeling right now, but she definitely feels different from how she normally does. Having never felt as though there's something else inside her before it's a hard feeling to place.]

Ven, maybe we're both sick because we accidentally fell for one of the Malnosso's experiments! That could definitely have happened!

Sick? You really think so?

[Hold on, he's got this. Just let him reach for her forehead to make sure her temperature's okay.]

It's possible, right? Fuuko definitely did not eat anything weird or out of date, so if Fuuko really is sick then Fuuko suspects something strange might be going on.

[Looking up, she stares at Ven's had on her forehead.]

How is it, is Fuuko burning up?

No, I don't think so. You feel just about normal to me.

[His shoulders droop, and he scratches his head.]

So if we are sick, it's not your average sickness.

While it is good that Fuuko doesn't have a temperature, that just means something much worse must be going on.

[She raises her own hand to her forehead, just to check for herself, before addressing Ven again.]

You don't seem flushed or look sick at all to Fuuko. It might be a kind of illness where you feel the symptoms before you see them, Fuuko is sure there are illnesses like that.

You really think so?

[Gulp. That's a scary thought. What if they've both got something super serious? Or worse, what if they turn into cultists?]

D'you think we should lay low? I thought about trying to fly with these wings, but if we're sick, that might not be a good idea.

[Oh dear, don't bring up that last possibility. The wings would be enough to convince her that that's what's going to happen to them.]

It's very tempting to try them out, especially when Fuuko has seen plenty of other people flying today. [...] But Fuuko feels it would be better if we keep to ourselves and lay low for now, like you said.

[The other guys possessed by the other spirits can fly around and do what they want. Just watching and keeping an eye on how things progress seems like a fine idea for the time being.]

Well... d'you wanna come over to my place? We could always hang out inside where it's safe.

[Plus, he can turn on all the lights so they don't have to worry about fog.]

Fuuko likes the sound of that idea! Not only is it safe, but Fuuko thinks it would be much easier to rest inside if we end up coming down with something after all. Of course Fuuko is hoping that nothing bad like that happens.

[Inside is good, lights are good. Plus maybe being inside will make her feel less on edge than she does being outside.]

I could make more star-shaped cookies, too! I know you really like those.

[And making Fuuko happy is always a priority. Especially now, since this is kinda wacky situation they're stuck in.]

That's right! But if you're going to make some more right now then Fuuko insists on helping out. Fuuko is really very good at baking.

[Eating star-shaped cookies is one thing, but they would taste even better if she got the chance to help make them with Ven.]

Man, you'd probably kick my butt at cookie making. I'm kinda scared now.

[He snickers. Really, he welcomes her help. It'll be more fun that way!]

You should be, Fuuko will be going all out in the kitchen today! [...] That was only a joke, it really would be the worst if you were scared while doing something with Fuuko.

[She felt it would be important to clarify that. The kitchen should be a no scare zone!]
