Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Heh, thought so! [Now Crow is a little more smug, proud that he knew that was going to happen--he thought he saw someone doing something like that earlier, so...]

Come on, try to do it again!

All right, stand back!

[He flutters backwards and turns to the side so he's not aiming at Crow. This time, he really concentrates and when he waves his hand around he's rewarded with a flame shooting out that's almost as long as he is tall.]

This is amazing!

[whoaaaaa]

Yeah, that was cool! [he's actually a little jealous that he hasn't been able to produce any flames himself, but dude that was so cool to watch!!]

[He grins and, in his excitement, drops down about a foot as he forgets to keep flapping his wings. Oops.

With a slight blush and a quiet curse he catches himself and gets back to his previous height.]

...I guess this isn't all that bad, really, compared to what happens here sometimes.

[He laughs when Firo drops a foot, but at his next comment he almost forgets about teasing any further for now.]

Yeah--this is way more fun than anything else they've done. [He's going to be crushed when he finds out the wings are not permanent.]

[Firo relaxes when Crow doesn't follow up the laughter with any mocking. He could really get used to this.]

Definitely.

There's gotta be some sort of motive for it somehow... But I don't know what. Maybe they're just tryin' to keep us happy so we don't cause any trouble?

[Way to rain on the parade, Firo.]

[Way to rain on the parade, Firo.]

Come on, don't waste time worrying about stuff like that--we should take advantage and just have fun with it!

[He laughs.]

Maybe you're right. There's nothin' we can do about it, anyway.

You wanna try flyin' somewhere?

[Now that he's getting used to it, he feels somewhat calmer just hanging in the sky and chatting. There's less up here to poke at him and frustrate him.]

[tomodachi]

[Now that's more like it!]

Yeah! Let's try...oh, let's go that way! [He points in the indicated direction, and even starts to go that way--you can keep up with him right Firo?]

[He follows Crow, lagging behind a bit.]

H-hey, don't go too fast! You might get hurt!

[Or Firo might fall behind; he's not as confident on his wings as Crow seems to be.]

[tomodachi]

[Crow doesn't stop flying, but he does slow down just a little, enough that he's not going to be too far away and can be heard replying back over the wind.]

It's okay! I'm not planning on letting that happen! [But thanks for the concern, Firo.]

[foundafamily]

[Now agitated, Firo speeds up in an ineffective attempt to catch Crow and yells back to him.]

It doesn't matter what you plan for! You still need to be careful!

[tomodachi]

Yeah, I know that already!

[......But fine, if it'll make you less agitated. He slows just a teeny bit more, and he does seem to be keeping an eye so that he doesn't fly into any trees. Is that better?]

[foundafamily]

Then act like it!

[He calms down somewhat when he sees that Crow is slowing down and doesn't seem to have his head in the clouds. He's caught up enough that he's only a few feet behind Crow now.

Cautiously, he takes his eyes off Crow long enough to look at the ground. Which is now an unsettling distance away, but Firo's surprised that he's almost used to it.]

Is this better than the view from the roof?

[Crow seems to spend a lot of time up there.]

[tomodachi]

[Crow sure does like spending time on the roof. He's always liked high places, and here is no exception.]

Oh, definitely--you can practically see everything from up here!

[foundafamily]

Yeah, really! I wonder if we can see any of our friends from up here. Everybody looks so tiny...

[tomodachi]

Yeah--oh man, I should look for Seto. He would probably look really tiny too like everyone else does... [And if Crow does spot him, he'll very likely attempt to drag him up here to play with too.]

[foundafamily]

[Firo cranes his neck, keeping his eyes peeled for Seto.]

Did he say where he was goin'? Somewhere around town, probably...

[Because if he's messing around too far into the woods Mama Firo will be very upset.]

[tomodachi]

Yeah, probably. He's gotta be somewhere around here...

[One disadvantage is the fact that everyone up here really does look tiny, so Crow drops down a little lower to try to get a somewhat better look. Hm...]

I hope he didn't get lost anywhere...

[But this is Seto they'd talking about. He's a good kid!

Firo flutters down to join Crow.]

Maybe he's inside visitin' somebody. ...Or maybe he's up here somewhere. You think he's tried to fly yet?

[tomodachi]

Yeah, maybe. He totally should try it, 'cause this is way too fun to be missing out on.

[...Of course Crow would want encourage Seto to do stuff like this, how could he not?]
