Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

"Persona user?" His eyes widen at that term, and for a moment it feels like his mind is reeling. He knew that term. He knew what that meant. Heck, for awhile he had been a Persona user -- in perhaps the most surreal Shift that he had ever experienced in Luceti.

All the current issues with the possessed residents fall to the wayside as he zeroes in on that. "Wait. Wait, wait, wait. You're-- Are you talking about those ... creatures that come out of the 'soul'? Those Personas?"

"Yes. I am. My master was Igor, the one who helps those who are bound to a contract uncover their inner persona. Until recently I assisted in those endeavors."

Her eyes twinkle in an odd way as Thanatos slowly comes from her.

"I believe my guardian here is why I have not succumb to the madness."

There is another question on Leon's tongue, but he doesn't get a chance to ask it -- not when he sees the gigantic form of Thanatos fade into existence next to the woman. He stands there with his mouth agape for a moment, too shocked to shout or scream.

"...That's... That's--" He takes a step back. He can't remember the name of that particular Persona, but he knows that form, that face. The Shift had been long ago now, and while he had written down the experiences as best he could, they could not properly coexist with his actual memories. "Why do you have that?"

The persona fades as she tilts her head pondering.

"Hrm... Do you like stories?"

His brows knit together as he remembers where they are. For a moment, the fact that they're standing around outside while people fly overhead is actually ... worrisome again.

But he can't help but inquire. It's been so long, but there's only one person he associates with that Persona... "Minato. Do you know Minato?"

She looks down and lets out a breath.

"Minato was my guest, it is to rescue him that I have forsaken my position as elevator girl and left into the realm of mortals."

That is immediately a story he does not know. He looks uncertainly at the woman again, slowly calming down to address her better. "I'm Leon. Minato... He was here, in Luceti. I didn't know that someone was trying to ... rescue him."

"Minato... He gave himself to form a wall to keep the beast Erebus from awakening Nyx and causing the death of all humanity. Now his soul is trapped in the wall but a soul can be rescued and in the sea of infinity it can be nurtured."

She lets out a breath.

"Just how... Is something I am still working on."

His mind reels at the story that the woman tells. If not for the mentioning of Nyx, he would have wondered if they were in fact talking about the same Minato, but...

He glances back over to where Thanatos had been looming just seconds ago.

"Who ... are you, exactly?"

"I am Elizabeth, A simple elevator attendant who has been woefully inattentive of her duties!"

She smiles widely at that.

"Simple ... elevator attendant..." His ears flatten against his head at that. So far, there was nothing simple about this woman. "Um, nice to meet you, Elizabeth."

"Indeed Leon."

She nods and ponders for a moment.

"If Minato did walk this place, would it be possible after this ordeal is over to see where?"

Again, he finds he has to try mentally translating Elizabeth's words. "You mean, where he was living?"

She smiles and nods.

"Yes... I am trying to recreate his path along the 22 arcana, yet do not have the same training he did so it is... Difficult."

"Well, his housemates are still living in the house, so it would be kinda awkward to intrude... But we can look outside of it. He attended the school here, too." His brows knit together at Elizabeth's words. "What do you mean you're trying to recreate his path? You can't exactly ... recreate what happened in Iwatodai."

"Not that path. The path of the Fool to the World. His power, it came from every heart he touched, and with that he was able to become one with the universe. My power is mine alone, and has proven to be not enough to.... Save him from the wall or the beast that claws at it."

"His ... power." He stares blankly at her for a long moment, trying to make heads or tails of her explanation. The power used to defeat Nyx? Even more so than that fake life and memories, that part of the story was vague. "So then ... something more powerful than all the Personas he had."

"Yes. The power of the wild card is more than that. I speculate it takes power from all those others whom the possessor has touched, but it is only a theory of mine. I have only seen two who reached the world."

"W-- what do you mean about saving him, though? He died." There's a pang of guilt as he so bluntly states that fact. He was unfortunately not privy to the details of what had happened after Minato's death.

"Answer me this. What is more important, the shell or the soul? If one has the soul, another shell can be built, but if the soul has turned itself into a wall to trap a beast, one can do nothing."

She ponders a bit.

"Minato chose to take his soul and with the power of the universe construct a great wall around Nyx with it so she may sleep. If that were all, now that the wall is built the soul could simply be rescued and perhaps my master could grant another shell. However humanity's sorrow and wish for self destruction gave birth to the beast Erebus, who claws at this wall. I have killed the beast twice now, but as long as humanity's will for destruction is so great it cries out for oblivion the beast will revive."

Elizabeth's story sounds surreal. If not for the knowledge that Leon now had concerning Minato's world, with the Dark Hour and the Shadows that had populated that hidden time, he would have been even more skeptical of what she said.

"So you're trying to save his soul from eternal ... guardianship." He's not sure what the implication was otherwise; could it mean that being this wall meant he was also being harmed every time Erebus attacked the wall?

That would be horrifying. He tries to put that thought out of his mind.

"An eternity of suffering to keep a beast created from the darkest emotions at bay is not... A fitting tribute to what he gave up."

"It isn't," he agrees readily, looking away as the uncomfortable thought came to mind again. "I ... hope that you manage to do it, then."

"Hope. Yes, that is currently my only lead. But now that I have met you I suspect I have more."

She smiles and clasps her hands together looking at him.

He tenses a little bit at that, confused by her sudden enthusiasm.

"Me? A lead?"
