What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[ Wow, look at all this stuff! Stewed sea prunes and imitation tiger-seal jerky from the Water Tribe; flaming fire flakes from the Fire Nation; hot vegetable dumplings and sweet moon cakes from the Air Nomad contingent; and rock candy to represent the Earth Kingdom.

Step right up and one or more of the kids will be with you sooner or later! And beware Momo, he likes to take food. ]

[Kurt browses the food, a little confused by how odd some of them seem.]

This looks like some hot cereal...

They're flaming fire flakes! Straight from the Fire Nation! ...Well, if by "Fire Nation" you mean "our kitchen" which it kinda can be, since if the future Fire Lord lives in our house, it kinda counts, right?

[ SUDDENLY, THERE IS A CHILD AT HIS ELBOW. And she is still talking. ]

You should try them, they're pretty good!

[Oh hey there, sudden child.]

So you have a Fire Nation in your kitchen and...

Sure, why not?

[He grabs a package and prepares to try. Maybe that will make this whole thing less weirder.]

[ YES. EAT THEM. She will just...watch you as you do that's not creepy at all right. ]

Oh, but I should warn you they're hot!

[ ...she says after he takes a bite? ]

[Fooood. F o o d. Nala's still lingering in Diamond, so he's still got his big old wings, but his heart's healing. They're folded the best they can be so he doesn't knock anything up.]

These look delicious~. [His Munchlax is out beside him, just as fond of food, and trying to get those moon cakes.]

[ And because Ikki should really talk to the pokemon people more, she and Soren will come over at some point. She's only got the small Luceti wings, and Soren the swellow only has - well, his swellow wings.

Ikki grins, but her focus is admittedly more on Munchlax than Diamond for the moment... ]

How cuuuuuute! Is this a pokemon?

[Incoming child!!! Lax doesn't mind her. Hi. Can you get him some moon cakes oh nevermind Diamond's getting one for him munch munch.]

Mmhmm! Lax is a Munchlax. [He's admiring Soren too! Totally not bothered by Ikki's small stature.] I've never seen your friend before either~! Hi there.

A Munchlax...that sounds like "Snorlax"! I learned that one from the pokedex.

[ Although it can't do anything really special, it has the lists transferred to her from Masaomi, and they're fun to read. Though she admittedly reads them less now that she's not being quizzed on them all the time. ] Oh, this is Soren! He's a swellow who was born here. Right, Soren? There's three others who're his siblings, but thy're not swellows.

[Hot vegetable dumplings, you say.]

[Asami is taking her turn keeping everything warm and organized, and a break from sparing, and she offers the girly eying the dumplings a smile.]

You're welcome to have one.

[Makie smiles at her sheepishly.] I suppose...that is what they're here for. Then thank you. [She picks one out carefully.] They look delicious. Did you make them?

Me? [She laughs softly.] No, I'm just keeping them warm. I'm an okay cook but...

[She shrugs. Well, the others were better.]

Elizabeth swings by the booth later in her day and peers at the food, taking a sniff and pondering.

"Some sort of spiced breakfast cereal?"

Aang leans against the counter and answers with a toothy chuckle.

"Something like that! But it's not just breakfast - it's for whenever you want a nice, flamin' snack!"

She blinks at Aang then stares at the food, clasping her hands together in excitement.

"So you are so brave as to eat food that bursts into fire?! How amazing! What causes it to explode in flame or is that something that happens in one's mouth?"

[Food. Interesting food that doesn't quite look like stuff you'd find back home. The fire flakes and dumplings seem to be the most interesting though.

The question is, would his body be able to handle the alien spices? Should we find out?]

[Aang peers on curiously as Derek looks over the foods.]

Anything you like? Don't be shy!

Honestly don't know; the dumplings look familiar, but that's about it.

[It's the rock candy which stands out to him immediately. He takes it in hand, thinking back to his ghosts of memories. Jenna...mite. Yeah, Jennamite. Is this actual Jennamite, or some imitation? He's not actually sure (largely because while he does remember it and its significance to the Prince of Omashu, he himself doesn't remember what it actually looks like), but he examines a piece in his hand, allowing himself to be sucked into memory lane.]

[ It's imitation. Sadly they couldn't find actual creeping crystals...That would probably make their booth even more chaotic than it already happens to be, though. Ikki isn't aware of any reason for Masaomi to be staring at the rock candy, so when she pops up at his elbow, it's with a baffled expression. ]

Is something wrong with the candy? I can grab you another one if there is.

Oh- Ikki. [A beat and] No, no, it's cool. [And he says this with a little smile, rolling the rock candy around in his palm] Is this Jennamite?

[Ooh, food!]

[Beast remembers the jerky-stuff from last year's Cultural Fair and immediately starts helping himself once he reaches the booth... wait, those cakes look new... and is that candy? He peers curiously at them as he slowly draws a piece of meat to his mouth.]

Oh, uh, h-hello, Aang... [There is a pause. He feels in himself a bit of tension.]
