What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

[ Ikki, sadly, is about as good as her grandfather at spotting hidden watchers (see above). She's not aware she's got a spectator, but instead continues to cheerfully shout advice as someone goes through - although they're spun out quickly enough.

Well then.

If Makie waits long enough, Aang will collect the person who'd attempted it, and Ikki will stick around as he goes to collect the next batch, having left his granddaughter with a stick of rock candy in the meantime. While she chews on it for a few seconds, she'll probably go through the gates on her own unless Makie makes herself known...

Although Soren seems to realize someone is nearby, though he can't pinpoint where. ]

[Makie isn't terribly hidden, so Soren will be able to see her eventually- it's more that she simply just stopped when she saw the gates and is now leaning against a tree to watch.

She likely doesn't say anything for a while, though-- so once Ikki does approach the gate, Makie straightens with added interest. This girl is pretty young to attempt something like this.]

[ When he does spot her, he won't alert his trainer only because she's about to go through - and besides, he doesn't think this woman is dangerous...though he's keeping an eye on you, mysterious stranger!

Ikki, for her part, slams her palms forward to send a blast of air at the gates. She laughs when they start spinning - though of course that was the point before taking a few steps and going into the storm of wood and wind. Don't rush, don't focus on the gates too much, just focus on the wind - the wind that could find the way through the gates, because it would wind its way through. Just be the wind, or a leaf on the wind, and...

...out the other side you'd go. ]

[..okay wow, that is awesome and deserves accolades. Makie peels herself away from the trees and comes out into the open.]

[ She gets Ikki to jump - although the little girl laughs right after. ]

Sorry! I didn't hear Grandpa get back...did you come to try out the air gates? And thanks!! They're super fun!

I'm sorry, I didn't come out with your Grandpa. I was just passing by. Air gates, you say? Is that what you-- how do you get them to move like that?

Oh! I thought you came from the cultural fair, sorry! ...But yeah! These are the air gates. And I move them by airbending - it's...

[ Well, Makie saw it in action, so how to explain? ] ...It's kind of our world's "magic", I guess, bending. I have airbending, but some of the others have different types: fire, water, or earth.

You can control the elements. [Though it's a statement of understanding, the idea of doing so is still really kind out there. Living with a magician tends to help get accustomed to this kind of thing, though.] You train from a young age?

I can only do air. That's why I'm an airbender! But yeah! I've been training...

...Probably forever? I don't remember a time before we were learning this stuff.

Do all airbenders train so early? [It makes sense, though. At least to Makie's limited perception, she imagines such a thing would be hard to learn.] How many of you are there?

Um, in Luceti or at home? There are four of us at home, unless you count the Avatar, in which case there are five! We don't know if Rohan is an airbender yet. He might be, though, and then there would be a whole six of us!

In Luceti, it's just grandpa and me. And then Korra if you count her.

[That's not very many at all. Clearly this airbending is a highly unique talent, right >>]

Is it... a family-based talent? I mean-- can you airbend because your parents could, or...

Only my daddy can. It's normally something that's passed down from a parent, but...a long time ago, all air nomads were airbenders. That's not true any longer, but it used to be.

I see. [A dying breed, then...? As it were. That's rather sad.] It's very beautiful to watch, though. Your going through those Gates. A lovely gift.

Thank you! It's something I learned at home, when I was training...and Hiccup made them for us here, although he left.

Oh...Hiccup went home? [She's taken aback for a moment. Not becuase she knew him, but he's the first he's heard about going home that she's met.] That's a shame. He seemed like a nice boy.

Yeah. Really recently, but...Uncle Sokka works with him, and so does Raven. I mean, they did. And he was one of the other three new pokemon trainers.

Pokemon? [Some kind of animal, she guesses.]

Yeah, like over there.

[ She's pointing at her giant bird pokemon, who is perched in the trees where she's pointing. ]

Oh, I see. They're birds...?

[Yes, Makie.]

Well, Soren is. He's a flying type. There are other types, though...Masaomi has an electric mouse.

[Er. O...kay.]

How can a mouse be electric? Is it a toy?

Well, it's more like it can shoot electricity at things?

...that sounds like a rather disturbing mouse.

I dunno if I'd call it that! I mean, her. Linda's nice, although she's a bit bossy.
