What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

"What is Erebus? We don't have that in my world."

"Erebus is a beast born of mankind's desire to end its own existence. It claws at the wall that keeps death sleeping. I do hope someone at home deals with it next year since I will not be there to do so it seems."

Oh wow. Steve's expression is frozen in shock for a long moment before he snaps out of it and shakes his head. "That's...terrible. I hope so to. That someone deals with it, I mean."

"I have slain it twice... But despair feeds it and it comes back. I... Do not understand humanity well enough to combat that emotion. Though I am trying to learn."

"I don't think anyone can fight people's emotions. They're not something you can defeat and never have to deal with again. They're...constant."

"But what makes man wish for oblivion?"

"I...I don't know how to answer that. Everyone tends to have their own reasons. There's no one answer."

"When there is life there is hope, and can hope not lead to a better future?"

"It can, yes. But it would depend on more people having hope than not."

"And that man... Unleashed a spell that devoured hope."

She sighs and her shoulders slump a bit.

"But, if I give up my guest is damned so I will figure something out."

A spell? Somehow the knowledge that magic is what has gotten her world so messed up doesn't surprise him. He really doesn't like magic.

"That's the spirit. You have hope yet. I'm sure you'll figure it out."

"Others have been working on removing the spell. A goddess let loose people's shadows to run amok, but... I need to find the 22 arcana."

And all of this sounds like nonsensical gibberish to him. People's shadows are on the run? 22 arcana?

"I'm sure you will. But how do you expect to find it here?"

"They are 22 people or groups that lead to the truth. I... Just have very little experience in depending on others."

"And you're sure that they're here?"

"Are you sure they aren't? Is it not best to hope?"

"...Yeah. You're right. You won't know unless you try."

"From my experience, social links are possible where there are people. And I really do not know what fear is."

She doesn't say this in a bragging way, she says it more in an innocent and naive way.

"You don't? So you've never been afraid before? Of anything?"

"No. I really do not understand fear or despair. That sadly is why I have been incapable of keeping the beast dead."

"But wait. If you did feel despair wouldn't that just make the beast stronger?"

"Despair is normal, it is felt by all. It is the despair that causes one to yearn for oblivion or to cause their own end that feeds the beast. Despair that is untouchable by hope."

"So...your inability to understand despair is why you need to find those other people to help you?"

"No. My inability to understand despair is but one symptom. Honestly, what great things have been done by just one person? Every victory is built of many hearts and souls."

He nods. "Yeah. I can understand that. But even if you do find them all here. What then? You'll still need a way to get back home."
