The Cultural Fair!

Who: Everyone's invited!
What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!
Summary: Here.
Rating: ... who knows?!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

[ Helios for one looks surprised and taken aback. ] Eighteen years...good lord, yes, yes that would definitely change a person. I-I suppose the Malnosso have done...stranger things to a person. Do you remember it then, everything that you did b-back home?

[ That's a lot to go through, but Rei seemed to have come out well from the entire experience. ] And I'm glad you like them, have as many as you want. I have an entirely fresh tray still back at the house.

I do. I was sent home, after all. Why wouldn't I?

[It's too much, frankly, to believe that they'd just fabricate her going home for so long.] Things changed, but in the end everything works out for the best.

And I think one's enough. It's awfully sweet, and I wouldn't want to get fat.
folklorist: (Oh is that right)

Oh no reason. Sometimes things get a bit muddled when people are brought back and forth, you know memories and all that, they're a bit tricky to-to keep straight after so many years of being back home.

[ Helios for one isn't sure what to believe. Rei could've been sent back home but then again it wasn't new feather season. That was the only discrepancy in the entire story. Helios didn't want to shatter her beliefs, but it was fabricated, he just didn't know how to go about saying it was. She looked happier, happier than he's ever seen her, and to ruin that wouldn't be right or his choice to make. It didn't seem fair to do at any rate, and so he would leave it be. ]

Oh please, Rei, you're not going to get fat. Not off one or two of these. I've eaten them all my life and look at me! [ He laughs happily as he shakes his head a mirthful smile stretched across his face. ]

That's quite true, really.

[Rei would likely not believe him anyway, good friend and adoptive father or no. The desire for the peace and paradise she's found is too great.]

Well I always wondered about that. How is it you eat so much sugar and gain no weight? It must be an old family secret.
folklorist: (Sneaky: I do like the sound of that)

[personal profile] folklorist 2013-06-18 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's...that's correct! It's a, ah, family secret, yes. And magicians never, ah, tell all their secrets. [ He smiles wide, happy, and bright back at her. Of course it was a simple matter but Helios liked to leave somethings a mystery. ]

True enough. So you do use magic, then...
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2013-06-21 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. Though it would be ironic if it didn't rely on magic, wouldn't it?
faithfulflame: (Rei Intrigued)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2013-06-21 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
And dreadfully out of character for you...
folklorist: (I suppose that works)

[personal profile] folklorist 2013-06-25 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Helios laughs deeply at that. ] Ah, yes, you're quite right about that. I can't really disagree. Then again I suppose it would be out of character for anyone who was a mage.
