What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

It'll be a year come early July. Hardly feels like it though. In some ways if feels like I've been here a decade.

I hear that's a pretty long time for most of the residents. Don't know if I should congratulate you for your staying power, or my condolences for the same.

[It has the sound of a good natured tease to it.]

So, you have any plans on getting a team or two together? Baseball, I mean.

I'll accept both. As much as I wish I wasn't here, I'm glad in some ways to have been here as long as I have. I feel like there's nothing they can throw at me that will catch me off-guard. How about you? Have long have you been here?

[He shakes his head.]

Haven't put much thought into it. Although if this at all helps people get interested in the sport, I wouldn't mind getting a game together.

This time? Since January. Been told though that I've been here twice before. I think it works out to roughly three years or so total.

[he nods again at the baseball regalia.]

I dunno. folks might be interested. Seems like social stuff goes down well around here. Give folks something to do and a reason to hang out with each other.

A repeat offender. [He looks impressed.] Seems this place just can't let you go.

Yeah, I have noticed that. I'll have to brush up on the rules before I get others involved. I suspect there might be people who have never played that might want to join in.

Yeah. I don't know what I did to get so popular, but there you go.

[He nods agreeably to Steve's next words]

Even though I've been here almost a year, I've had yet to visit the beach.

I've already been out a few times, helping a friend out. kinda thinking of joining her there sometimes. It's a good beach. Good waves, too.

I didn't know there was anyone living out on the beach. I'll have to go by there sometime.

We still have to build the house. But yeah, that's where it'll be.

And someone else, too. Their house is there as well. Not sure whose it is, though. Never went and checked.

I can understand the impulse. Living out there would you to get away of some of the village's craziness.

Yeah. Sometimes, even if you like people, you need a break. There's not much to work with in that regard here.

No, there isn't really. Maybe if this place was a little bigger we could all have some breathing room. I doubt that'll happen though.

Maybe so. From what I've heard though, the ocean wasn't always there, so you never know. That might change.

It does add to the atmosphere, that's for sure. I can't imagine it going anywhere.

If you dig back far enough in the journals, it's there. Some sort of catastrophe that took the shields down for a bit. Enough to flood the desert, anyway.

Guess we'll see.

Makes you wonder what kind of catastrophe can do something like that.

Something big. It gives some credence to their claim that the shield is up to protect us, though. There's been a few other incidents, too. I'm still trying to piece them together.

Yeah, I guess it does. I read up a little on past entries after I arrived, but I didn't get far. I guess now would be as good a time as any to try again.

I just either pick a topic or a person, keep the page numbers I read at a time down and take notes. Less confusing that way.

Looks like you have a pretty good system down. I think it would be impossible to keep track of anything otherwise. The pages seem to go on forever.

Yeah, they do sometimes. I guess it's just a question of going in with some sort of focus. Once you get a method down though, it gets easier.

[He chuckles.] Reminds me of when I was in school and had to work out a method to study.
