What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

Well enough. Even though I still hate the idea of having to do it.

[He picks up a bottle of water, offering it to her.]

Have you even seen this? This material is everywhere. [In reference to the plastic.] They can make anything out of it.

I know. And it's <i>everywhere</i>. I'm trying to figure out how to use it as a case for my battery.

[Zuko just blinks at her.]

[She tugs her glove off and turns it over so he can see the power supply.]

I'm trying to recreate this. Plastic seems like a better case than the metal my father used.

[If she could stop making them explode anyway...]

[Zuko can only really stare at the device. In his mind, it's just a weird fancy glove of some sort.]

Um... Right.

[It's not hard to tell he's confused, and Asami just smiles as she tugs the glove on.]

It's a power supply. See?

[She holds her hand off to the side and flexes her fingers, and electricity crackles along the fingers, visibly arcing along the metal points.]

[Lightning? It's a glove that makes lightning?

That has to be the case. She said she wasn't a bender, didn't she?

Machines that made fire he could understand, but how does one make lightning?]

...How does it do that? It's just a glove!

[tokennonbender]

Well, it's not the glove making the lightning, it's this power supply here. [She taps it, then traces along the metal framework.]

And then the power arcs across these receptors here and flashes out along the metal, so that it will zap anyone it comes into contact with, but the wearer has the protective fabric here that...

[She's just going to go on for a while if he doesn't stop her...]

[He's trying to take this in. Really, he is.

However, he loses her after the first line or so and basically ends up nodding dully for the rest of it.]

...and the amplifier here in the palm lets me channel it so I am sure it's not going to flash back at me. Make sense?

[She finally finishes, smiling brightly. Because it is science and it is awesome.]

[Oh, is she done? He's nodded a couple times after before he realizes.]

Ab...solutely! ...For someone other than me.

[Asami frowns as what he says sinks in, and then laughs softly.]

Sorry. I suppose it must be pretty strange, you didn't have anything like this back then, did you..

Sokka and Teo's dad were pretty good with inventions, but I don't know if they had anything like that.

It's not really my department.

[The future is strange.]

Maybe. I'm not really that familiar with older technology anyway. Dad tended to advance things pretty fast.

[She shrugs.]

I suppose it doesn't matter. Have you had much of an audience for the fire bending today?

Yeah, a few people!

I mean, I don't know if I could say what a lot really is here, but it seemed like a lot given the overall population.

[And they'd all been at least interested, which was nice.]

Sometimes I am honestly surprised by how few people are here.

[Still, this was a pretty big crowd.]

I'm just so used to Republic City.

[twodragons]

Republic City?

[If that's a big city, he's never heard of it.]

Where's that?

[tokennonbender]

Oh...right. Uhm. [She looks a tad embarrassed.] It's...in the earth kingdom? Some people...well, you and avatar aang...got it started. But it's huge now. It's the second largest city in the world, really.

[twodragons]

An Earth Nation city? [He frowns, confused. Why did the Earth Nation need another large city?]

What sort of people live there?

[tokennonbender]

No, it's...an independent city. It was founded from the old fire nation colonies on the earth kingdom, mostly.

It's pretty amazing. All sorts of people from all over the world live there.

[twodragons]

From all over? So benders and non-benders of all types? All living peacefully in one city?

[Wait, these are spoilers. He shouldn't be hearing this.

And yet hearing it still makes him really happy.]

Well. Peacefully probably isn't the right word. But close enough.

Most people seem happy there.

[Except the equalists.]

That's great! That's amazing! And you say me and Aang...

[He cuts himself off.]

I... shouldn't be hearing all this. I told myself I didn't want to know about the future.

Oh! [She supposes she can understand that.]

Eh... It's okay. It's not like anyone else has bothered to be careful with that so far, so I might as well give up on it.
