What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

"I suppose we could ask one. I'd gotten the impression they feel quite hungry all the time, though. I don't, mostly. I just get... cranky."

[herotypical]

"They definitely get more hungry. And I've seen a few lose their appetite now and then. And, I mean, well..." She fumbled with her words. "Some have more control than others."

[complicatedliar]

"Lose their appetite? How interesting." He shrugged. "Are they not a bit like all people? Most are idiots, few are patient, and so on."

[herotypical]

"...They used to be people. So I suspect that has something to do with it. It's -- well," her voice dropped, as if she was sharing a secret. "It's a common line, on the job. The demon is a demon and he walks and he talks and he acts like the human he used to be, but he's not. Only...it's not really ever that simple. Not nearly."

[complicatedliar]

"It depends upon how one defines people, I suppose." He nodded. "Things invariably are more complicated."

[herotypical]

"Invariably." She repeated his word, finally added: "One of the finest men I've ever known was a monster. Is. Is a monster. It's hard, sometimes, to remember the right tense..."

"Is a monster, or is a vampire? There are all sorts of monsters."

[herotypical]

"A vampire. One of the worst, really, in his time. Second only to my first serious boyfriend." Her tone was wry. "He'd killed two Slayers before I even met him."

[complicatedliar]

Loki's eyebrows went up at the mention of her boyfriend. Interesting, that."Presumably he us over that now?"

[herotypical]

"Quite. Quite over it. What can I say, I've developed an annoying tenderness for rehabilitated men."

Angel. Spike. Sparrow. To some new extent, Horner.

[complicatedliar]

Loki laughed. "I doubt they find it annoying. Your culture does seem to have a bit of a thing for those sorts of stories anyway. And... what is the word. Underdogs?"

[herotypical]

"...Well, I wouldn't call any of them underdogs. That implies a rise from mediocrity. But Angel and Spike were very good at being bad. Hell. Jack? Pirate Lord. Son of some big deal code-keeper. If that's not the opposite of being an underdog, I don't know what is.

It's just that I believe rather a lot in second chances. Sometimes third chances."

[complicatedliar]

"I thought the underdog wasn't so much mediocre as downtrodden." It wasn't something he had anything more than an academic interest in, just a trope he'd seen often in the human books he'd read.

Well, and talking with Buffy was--bizarrely--actually quite fun. He liked people who would play the verbal game.

"Though your point still stands. I've not known any pirate lords personally, but I don't think downtrodden really fits with the sound of it."

[herotypical]

"Besides, you probably have to be good at your job to be Captain of the fastest ship in the Caribbean -- perhaps the world -- right? Not that even I'd ever take just Jack's word for it, of course. His enemies have as good as confirmed it, too.

Not that any of that matters, here."

[complicatedliar]

"I should think so. Oh, does he have a little problem with the truth?"

He shrugged. "I'd like to think being competent always matters, despite the location." His smile became humorless for a moment. "Well, in most locations."

[herotypical]

"...He stretches it, yeah."

[complicatedliar]

"That doesn't sound like a problem so much." He grinned. To him that was just fun. "Though one would hope he didn't do it around you."
