The Cultural Fair!

Who: Everyone's invited!
What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!
Summary: Here.
Rating: ... who knows?!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

Huh. Do ya' want me to go find you a straw or somethin'? Wouldn't want you to quaff up all over the place... Heeey, that's a pretty good word.
complicatedliar: (giggley)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-06-22 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[He laughs.]

If the mead is good, it'd eat through any straw you could find. No, the point is that you're having such a lovely, drunken time you don't mind if you end up wearing half your beverage. There's always more.

You can quaff anything, you know. But if you try to quaff anything non-alcoholic the quaffing police might come for you.
castbytheglyph: (I'll call you)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-06-23 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, I get where you're comin' from now. That sounds like a blast! I think?

[Mead must be some serious stuff if it eats straws up. Her mind almost starts wandering off to ideas of heavy duty straws that can withstand any sort of drink they're put in, but she stays focused!]

Maybe the next time I go grab a drink from Good Spirits I'll try this whole quaffing thing out. I won't try it with water or just any old drink though, promise!

[It seems to have slipped her mind that she could just try what's here right now instead of going off and drinking later.]
complicatedliar: (smirk)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-06-24 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
There is some mead right there if you'd like top try it whilst in the presence of a qualified quaffing instructor.

[This could be funny.]
castbytheglyph: (And fly to the ends of the map)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-06-24 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Welp, might as well give it a try while there's a quaffing expert in the area.

[If she doesn't give it a go now she might never have the chance to quaff mead with a proper qualified official around ever again! Pascal takes up some mead and gives it a few curious sniffs... Huh, not the nicest smelling stuff. Ah well.]

Here we go, down the hatch!

[With a loud slurp she starts drinking, making sure to splash the mead around and ensure some of it dribbles down from the corners of her mouth. With all the mess she's making she could be a natural quaffing pro.]
complicatedliar: (startled)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-06-25 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Loki pauses to watch her and feels a grudging sort of respect. She'd certainly give Volstagg a run for his money. She might even be the woman of his dreams, really, if she liked beards the could get lost in. That's a disquieting thought.

But he does give her some polite applause.]

Well executed, lady. You're well on your way to being a proper warrior of Asgard.
castbytheglyph: (When the soles of shoes)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-06-25 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
[One more glug and Pascal pulls her head back, again letting drops of mead fly out in all directions.]

Phew! It tasted kinda funky, but thanks and all that!

[... Just give it a few minutes until what she's drunk really hits her.]
complicatedliar: (all according to plan)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-06-27 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Loki wipes a drop of mead from his cheek and grimaces. It really is like being back home. Back in Asgard. Feh.]

That is alcohol made from honey. It shall put hair on your chest.
castbytheglyph: (We'll see each other)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-06-28 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
So that's what was in it! I thought it had a sweet sorta kick to it, but I wasn't too sure on what it was. That totally must've been the honey.

[As for the chest thing-] So hey, if I start sprouting hair all over the place then I guess I'll be breaking out the razor.
complicatedliar: (Default)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. The honey is what makes it stick to your stomach as well.

[He laughs.] But the hair will intimidate your enemies.
castbytheglyph: (It's time I got to sleep)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-07-07 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hmm. She's not sure how much she likes the idea of something she ate actually sticking to her stomach, but eh, her stomach can take care of itself in the end. It can sort out anything bad like super sticky honey!]

Hair isn't all that scary though, right? There are way scarier intimidation tactics than having outta control body hair.

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-08 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You have obviously never faced down a berserker. They have hair like a bear and only wear the tiniest of loincloths.
castbytheglyph: (We'll see each tomorrow again right?)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-07-09 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
All the bears I've seen back home don't wear anything, except for their fur! They're kinda scary up close, but that's because they've got these huuuge claws on 'em.

[Claws for mauling. Those things hurt.

Is it her, or is it starting to get a little warmer in here? After Pascal answers she starts idly fanning her face with one of her hands.]</small?
complicatedliar: (giggley)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-10 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I've hunted bear before; true, they can be quite fearsome. Berserkers don't have claws. They normally stick to axes if memory serves.

They aren't built entirely like bears, you know. Whence the loincloth. Though some don't even bother with that, which can be a bit distracting.

[He grins, noting she seems to be hearing up a bit.]

It is a very cool way to dress though, I would think.
castbytheglyph: (Here we come)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-07-11 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, totally cool. It would really suck to be dressed like that when you're out fighting in the snow of something. Your toes would freeze off before you would even have the chance to land a hit!

[Unless all the hair helps to keep those berserker guys warm, that could cover it! Probably not all of it in the case of going sans loincloth, but anyway-]

Phew, man is it getting warm out. Somebody turn the- [Hic!] Turn the sun down for a sec.
complicatedliar: (giggley)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-11 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It is the fire in their blood that keeps them warm. Which I believe is a bit helped by mead too, you know.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

Shall I fetch you a loincloth?
castbytheglyph: (Let's draw up a new map)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-07-13 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Naaah, I'm fiiine. I don't need a loincloth, shilly! What I really needsh right now is for you to turn everything right-side up again.

[Pascal tries to snap her fingers, but in her current state it takes her a few tries before she manages it.]

I could totally make a loincloth that keepsh the world straight, a... A linecloth!

[Yeah. She's gone.]
complicatedliar: (brat)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I could give you a bit of rope upon which to hold. So you don't fall off the world.
castbytheglyph: (All I do is think of you)

[personal profile] castbytheglyph 2013-07-15 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You could?! Oh man, you should totally give me shome rope, that would be the besht!

[She doesn't want to fall off the world! She'll end up smacking her head on the barrier, and that would just plain hurt!]
complicatedliar: (giggley)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-08-13 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Loki produces a bit of string from his pocket and leaves his throne long enough to hand it to her. It's notably not attached to anything.]

That should do nicely.
