What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

Control elements?

I think anyone can learn from what the spirits want to teach. I've...spoken, if that's even the right term, to Nala.

So you guys have spirits, too? Are they like the ones here, or are we talking more along the lines of ancestor spirits?

A bit of both. We have Spirits for everything, from the forest to people. Mainly the Avatar though.

So he's...a cosmic spokes person of sorts?

{Honestly, he didn't mean to let this get derailed into whatever they;re talking about now, but Derek cna be a giant sponge if there's something new to learn, especially if it's about other people.]

Kind of. He does other stuff, but talking to the Spirits is a pretty big deal, and really important.

[The smiles said it all, really, before she even said anything, and it made Derek smile.

So how do you fit into all of that?

My uniform? Well, it was made for me, so it's not too difficult to get into. And it's actually pretty comfortable.

[He chuckles]

...well, that wasn't exactly what I meant, but that works. I meant how to you fit in with all the avatar stuff? Are you just a friend, partner? Something else?

OH! [Awkward laughing.] I'm a friend. I helped Aang, and took out some airships in the process.

[The laughter makes him smile; he knew part of it was his fault. After all, not everyone spoke the same slang.]

Known him long?

Not too long, but he is the savior of my world, so it's easy to trust him.

[Derek nods. He would be lying if he said the whole 'savior of the world' thing didn't bother him, but he had to trust that not all words were like his own, where when someone takes that title, it's more likely a scam of some sort.

That was the whole point of this fair anyway; to learn about worlds different from his own.]

Did... I say something wrong?

Huh..?

Oh, uh, no. Just thinking. Lot of differences in our worlds, is all. 'Hero' types where I come from tend to be a lot less...accessible, I guess.

Just a hunter. I wouldn't call what I do any kind of heroic. Just...something that needs to be done.

But that alone is heroic. You're protecting people, right?

More like saving the survivors. Generally speaking, I usually don't get there until damage has already been done and people hurt and killed. Then it's just a lot of returning the favor.

But you're still protecting people and helping them. That means a lot.

Yeah, maybe. It's just the right thing to do.

Just because it's right doesn't make it easy. So that's pretty impressive.
