The Cultural Fair!

Who: Everyone's invited!
What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!
Summary: Here.
Rating: ... who knows?!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

[Give her a second. Zatanna's never seen British money before, so she has to take a look.]

Saying no would be too easy. [And as a magician, Zatanna can appreciate there being a trick to it. She holds one of the pounds between her fingers.] And so would be adding in another coin.

[The coins are all standard government-issued, no tricks or embellishments. Purely educational. The cups, on the other hand, are your average beverage glasses with the slightly flared sides.]

Adding another coin would be not only easy, but against the rules as well. There must be another way, don't you think?

There always is. [And since playing with the coins and the cups seems to be okay, Zatanna does just that, keeping her hands occupied by rolling the pound between her fingers. It's not until she looks at the cups, however, and thinks about stacking them that she gets an idea.]

So, three in one, seven in one, and all the cups have to have at least one coin? [The rules as he explained them in a nutshell, and Zatanna flips the coin she's been playing with into the air, catching it.] So how about this?

[Zatanna picks up three more coins, dropping all four into one cup. Then she takes the second cup and puts it inside of the first, before adding three coins to that.] Since you didn't say one cup couldn't be inside of another, there's three in there, and seven inside the first. Leaving three more coins--[Which she takes and deposits.] for the last cup.

That's actually pretty good.

[Layton watches her puzzle it out with crossed arms. When she stacks the two cups it becomes evident that he won't have to wait for long, and he spreads his hands in praise at the end of her explanation.]

Brilliant. The definition of what's "in" a cup can be a bit vague, after all, and you have every right to take advantage of a puzzle's wording.

In any case, you've answered correctly, which means you've earned a prize. [He sets a top hat filled with paper slips next to the cups.] Draw a number and we'll see where luck lands you.
