What: A party to celebrate the longest day of the year

Where: The Southern Lake
Summary: Helios and Saori decided to host a party with food, dancing, and friends to mark the solstice, the birthday of a friend, and several other personal things. Residents volunteered to help get it together, and now all the work is done so it's time to set aside their troubles and enjoy summer!
Rating: PG to PG-13 at most (For language most likely)

It'd taken a week, getting everything together, but with everyone pitching in they'd managed it. Food, drinks, decorations, and all the trappings of a fine summer party. An area had been roped off for dancing and music, umbrella'd tables had been procured for meals and relaxing in the shade, and they'd even set up a piano for Fredric to perform with. A gentle breeze kept the lakeshore cool and mosquito free, and by noon everything appeared to be ready for the midsummer party.

The Longest Day, Helios' boyfriend's birthday, and Saori's ascension day had all conveniently coincided, so no matter what you're here to celebrate, enjoy yourselves and have fun! Toss your character anywhere, and remember that all important rule. As a note, teleport sigils to the other party were set up by Helios so feel free to pop between the two. [She turns at the hug and slips an arm around his waist, giving him a quick hug of her own and an open, cheerful smile.]

Hey you. I'm glad to see you. [She twitches a finger, and the cloudscape shifts, taking the form of a flying hawk.]

And thank you. Is there anything you want to see? I take requests from my best friends.

[He smiles back, tugging her close for a moment.]

You know me, party animal.

Hmmmm, how about a hawk then, even if it's trite and predictable.

Maybe it's a bit less wild than you're used to though...

[She grins and taps her chin, the hawk she'd already formed drifting down out of the sky, doing a little circle around his head. After a few loops, it lands on top of his head, looking down with a quirked head.]

I dunno. I've infiltrated enough posh balls to get a taste of the more refined side of things.

[He laughs softly as he watches the hawk dive and then land on him. He looks up at the bird and holds a hand up to it, not sure whether he can touch it or not. It is cloud after all.]

[It's solid enough to touch, definitely, though it's cool and moist to the touch because...well...it is a cloud. It nuzzles his hands, though.]

I suppose so, being an international super-spy and all. I hope things have been well dearest. I heard you went on a mission. No injuries, I hope?

[Now that's kind of weird but fantastic all the same and he rubs the little thing's head gently.]

I've been surviving. And the only injuries were a few scrapes and maybe a blow to my pride. Nothing serious. How 'bout you sweetheart?

[Well there was Adele. But today was a day to put things behind her. Ascension day.]

Me? Oh, things were a little rough for a while, but I'm through it. Just wounds to my pride as well. But nothing serious. And nothing that quite matters as much, after today. Part of why we're celebrating today. It's a whole new year, and a bright shining summer.

Ah well, pride is fixable. Stings but... we'll live I think.

Gotta say, this is a nicer way to start a year than cold and rainy in the middle of winter.

I certainly hope so. I'd be most upset with you if you died over something as silly as pride.

[Teasingly, she reaches up and tweaks his nose. A show of friendship and comfort, from her at least.]

And yes, I thought so too. It's...a bit of a thing for summer gods. The height of our time on Earth. And it's much nicer than any drab winter day. I prefer simple, lazy, and hot days to cold ones, don't you?

No worries there. There are so many other exciting ways for me to die after all. Might as well make sure it's a memorable one.

[He laughs softly at the gesture and tugs a strand of her hair gently.]

In fairness, I think by that time of year any excuse for a party is a good one, but the weather definitely has it's perks in summer.

Well of course. You can have warm rain, and thunder and proper sunlight...and it's the longest day of the year too.

[She's listing these off on her fingers like a kid. Really, she just can't help it. It's nice to talk to him like this again, and it's affecting her mood a lot. In a good way.]

It's just the best time of year. And at home the rainy season would be just about to start too. I wish the Malnosso would bring that around sometime. It would be...well...comforting I think.

Sounds fantastic. Got to admit though, there's something nice about a long winter night at home, watching bad television and drinking coffee. And I quite like snow, gotta admit.

But nah, I can see why this is your favourite time of year. It's nice to see the sun.

Well I certainly don't mind snuggling on a cold winter night. It's something I'd do at home, just curl up with a book and sleep for a week or more. Sometimes with Yuuna. But...before I met her it was with my inugami.

But sunlight and warmth is always better. Such a vast improvement over winter. I absolutely despise snow.

Inugami? [That's not a word he's come across before.]

Snowboarding is pretty fun. And it's nice to look at when you're inside and warm. Snowball fights too.

Oh, did I never mention them? Dog spirits. My servants. They're...pretty cuddly in a way.

[Another cloud takes the shape of a large shiba-inu with overlong paws and wings on his feet. Not the traditional look, but the ones who followed her chose that shape around her. The typical Hound of Vengeance look just didn't go well with her]

Snowball fights are fun, but...it's still yucky since it soaks into everything. And it sticks to shoes and the hems of dresses too. It's really yuck, getting cold ankles because of that.

[Saori is someone that takes socks and ankle comfort VERY seriously.]
