Daytime Solstice Party

Who: Anyone and Everyone
What: A party to celebrate the longest day of the year
When: June 21st, Noon to Nightfall
Where: The Southern Lake
Summary: Helios and Saori decided to host a party with food, dancing, and friends to mark the solstice, the birthday of a friend, and several other personal things. Residents volunteered to help get it together, and now all the work is done so it's time to set aside their troubles and enjoy summer!
Rating: PG to PG-13 at most (For language most likely)

It'd taken a week, getting everything together, but with everyone pitching in they'd managed it. Food, drinks, decorations, and all the trappings of a fine summer party. An area had been roped off for dancing and music, umbrella'd tables had been procured for meals and relaxing in the shade, and they'd even set up a piano for Fredric to perform with. A gentle breeze kept the lakeshore cool and mosquito free, and by noon everything appeared to be ready for the midsummer party.

The Longest Day, Helios' boyfriend's birthday, and Saori's ascension day had all conveniently coincided, so no matter what you're here to celebrate, enjoy yourselves and have fun! Toss your character anywhere, and remember that all important rule. As a note, teleport sigils to the other party were set up by Helios so feel free to pop between the two. Go ahead and start new top-level comments if you like too, these are just generic ones!

[There's quite a variety of music to be had, from Fredric's classical piano pieces to a small sound system cobbled together from various sources, some of which may or may not be enchanted. The music errs on the side of classy rather than loud though, ranging from folk tunes from around the world to swing music. Makie, Saori, and some other musicians also likely perform pieces to liven up things.

And of course, there's dancing.]

[Hungry? Well there are several tables set up with all sorts of dishes from all over Luceti. Have a bite, catch a friend, have a conversation!]

[Midway through the afternoon, Saori starts up a little bit of entertainment to go along with the music and socializing. Clouds begin to darken around the gathering, shifting and changing into various shapes and sizes. Animals great and small, fish, birds, alien-like creatures, and various shapes and patterns form in the sky. People seated near Saori can hear here tell a few folk tales, with the clouds acting as pictures to depict scenes. Lightning ripples along the skyline as well, but never strikes, instead providing illumination within the clouds.

Come around and watch, maybe catch a story! Or when it's all over, come bring a sweaty Saori something to drink. This is pretty draining!]

[Well it's getting on towards night, so it's time to do a little cleaning up. Anyone who stays will definitely get a thank you!]

[ Helios is gonna be working with everyone and anyone to setup the solstice party. He'll be bring in lots of authentic foods from a variety of cultures for everyone to eat. Vegetarian dishes for the ponies and other sorts of things for everyone else. The table where the food is laid out seems expansive and long, but Helios is just brightly smiling as he makes his rounds around the party site. ]

[Belle is helping to set up some of the decorations when she passes the table of food that Helios is setting up.]

There's so many foods I don't recognize. Did you make all of this yourself?

[ Ororo flies into the party a little bit late - there were just so many things to do today, goodness - but considering Saori invited her personally, there was no way she wouldn't show up.

To her delight, she makes it just in time for the cloud show to start! So she finds a relatively quiet spot to watch and feel the clouds shift and change. This was nice. It was tempting to fly up there and be part of the show herself, but for now, this was nice. ]

Oh heavens no! I-I couldn't possibly make all of it myself. But I did help a good deal. [ The kitchen back at the house is visual proof of this. ]

There's lots of...ethnic food from my country and Max's and Saori's too. English, Japanese and Romanian. It's only fitting to, um, have that sort of feast for the party that it's designated for.

Oh, I see. I've never had any Japanese or Romanian foods before. But I look forward to trying some of them. Is there anything you suggest I try first?

[Saori's worked pretty tirelessly getting all of this set up. The food she's brought is a wide variety of snacks, meal-items, and desserts from all over the Earth. Japanese cooking, American cooking, Indian and Middle Eastern as well. She's also quite busy putting up last minute decorations and setting up other things as well, checking and doublechecking everything.]

[Well, she took a lot of time preparing food, so Saori isn't going to skip out on eating it. Abandoning her usually simple diet, she's got a full plate in front of her and two more that've been emptied already. She'll welcome conversation, and won't hesitate to offer suggestions on what to try.]

[It's not really something Saori needs to work hard to maintain when doing other things, so when she sees her dear friend flying in she walks on over and takes a seat with Ororo. There's a familiar pat on the shoulder and even a gentle squeeze]

Good afternoon, Ororo.

[With the other party going on, one Saori would just as soon avoid for a great number of reasons, she remains to clean up after the days festivities. It'd been a pleasant one, a very nice party indeed and one that left her feeling just a bit wistful. It wasn't quite the same as an ascension celebration at home, but it'd certainly kept her mind off her recent troubles. But there was work to do.

So, trash-bag in hand she begins the mundane task of picking up things and getting everything cleaned up for the trip home. What a day...]

[True to his word, Kouki showed up and help with the party's set up. The food he brought along are mostly simple dishes (primarily Japanese, but there's a one or two non-Japanese ones), but they're no less delicious.

After setting the food down, he'd be going around and help out with the decorations, as long he can reach it.

Either way, a young man with black wings and a pair of very distinctive headphones--it almost looks like he have cat ears--is helping out.]

[ Ororo turns to glance up at Saori, a peaceful smile on her face. ]

Saori, hello. I'm sorry I was late. [ Her smile turns a bit sheepish. ] I was caught up with a couple of things.

[ She glances back at the changing sky. ] This is wonderful, though.

[A young demon king is watching the cloud show with a smile, his eyes picking out the familiar shapes and having a bit of fun guessing what shapes the clouds formed.

After a while, he walks over to where people are sitting down and listening to some tales.]

Oh, it's alright. I'm glad you could make it, though. Nothing too serious, I hope?

[Looking back up in the sky, leaning back on her hands she can't help but smile]

I thought people might like it. It's been a while since I did something like this.

[ Of course Lirael stayed behind to help with the clean-up, anything else would have felt massively awkward, especially since she hadn't helped out with getting everything set up.

Hence she too is wandering around with a trash bag, restoring the lakeside to its previous state. ]

Did it turn out as you'd hoped?

It looks like a lot of fun. [Ororo returns the smile easily.] I can see why you would enjoy it so much.

[ Lirael is sitting a little off to the side, too far away to hear any of the stories but making up her own in her head as she watches the clouds move with her arms wrapped around her knees.

She's not really a party person, and this quiet moment is a welcome one for her as the beauty of the display in the sky brings a soft smile to her lips.

She searches the cloud patterns for things to remind her of home. Charter marks, bells, and perhaps she's even hoping to see something that might look a little bit like Dog, her best friend and companion.

She is happier in Luceti than she ever was back in the Old Kingdom, but sometimes she still gets homesick, and she's feeling a little nostalgic right now. ]

[Turning to her friend Saori smiles faintly and nods]

It did. It was nice. A good way to just...forget everything and move on.

[She quirks her head to one side, curious]

Shouldn't you be at the other party instead of cleaning with me, though?

Oh! [Ororo blinks a little.] ... Are you sure? I would hate to intrude on your work. [She didn't realize it was something she could join in on!]
