What: A party to celebrate the longest day of the year

Summary: Helios and Saori decided to host a party with food, dancing, and friends to mark the solstice, the birthday of a friend, and several other personal things. Residents volunteered to help get it together, and now all the work is done so it's time to set aside their troubles and enjoy summer!
Rating: PG to PG-13 at most (For language most likely)

It'd taken a week, getting everything together, but with everyone pitching in they'd managed it. Food, drinks, decorations, and all the trappings of a fine summer party. An area had been roped off for dancing and music, umbrella'd tables had been procured for meals and relaxing in the shade, and they'd even set up a piano for Fredric to perform with. A gentle breeze kept the lakeshore cool and mosquito free, and by noon everything appeared to be ready for the midsummer party.

The Longest Day, Helios' boyfriend's birthday, and Saori's ascension day had all conveniently coincided, so no matter what you're here to celebrate, enjoy yourselves and have fun! Toss your character anywhere, and remember that all important rule. As a note, teleport sigils to the other party were set up by Helios so feel free to pop between the two. Go ahead and start new top-level comments if you like too, these are just generic ones!

[Loki is amused at being so pointedly ignored. He's more than happy to play the game; it was an open invitation after all, and the solstice has meaning to him as well.

So he'll come over and offer Saori a polite bow and a smooth smile.]

[Smoothly, she turns and offers him the same, a polite inclination of the head and a smile. Why should she have expected anything different?]

And I bid you the same, Loki. I merely thought it would be proper, to celebrate the longest day of the year. I trust you're enjoying yourself?

It is quite different from the celebrations to which I'm accustomed, so I find it interesting. I only regret my lack of hearing has made it quite impossible for me to enjoy the music, but I'll assume that it's pleasant.

And yes, I suppose it would be different from most Asgardian celebrations. Less mead, from what I gather.

I'm sure he did. [And Loki is actually a bit sorry he can't hear, in particular now since he does like dancing.] A shame, that.

Well, it's not meant to be a rowdy thing, no. Celebrations in Tengoku are generally more subdued. And Helios and I thought something more subdued would be more appropriate for today.

Not that loud parties are bad, but not fitting for the occasion.

For a birthday and a solstice? Well, it takes all sorts, I suppose. [Really, if he's going to celebrate, he doesn't see the point of doing it by halves. But he's never been the sort to do anything by halves.]

Well, there'll be a nice bit of loud for me once the sun goes down, so I can't complain about a gentler setting.

Well truthfully, do you see Helios or I as the sort? Cultural differences aside.

[She's got that dry, sardonic twist to her mouth.]

He's quite pleasant, yes. I regretfully won't be able to attend his party, as I've got quite a lot of cleaning to do after this. I don't think Fredric would like his piano being left out for morning dew.

Oh, what a shame. It promises to be quite the show. I'm looking forward to being able to experience the music enough to properly dance.

[He laughs.]

Apparently for these sorts of parties it is traditional to wear very tight trousers. I don't think those would go very well here either.

Yes, well as you've no doubt noticed our resources are limited, and that includes musical instruments.

[She quirks a half smile]

A sight I'll be sorry to miss, I'm sure. I'm afraid I drastically prefer shorts to dark leather when it comes to modern clothing but it suits some people quite well.

Of course. A bit of magic can do wonders, but also may not be in keeping with the style. Or at least I assume so.

I still really don't understand the point of much of their clothing. Though I have found much to like about... suits. Which I've been informed are not appropriate fit that sort of dance. [He shrugs.]

Magic...well, yes it can do many things, but it can't quite compare to music from a real instrument.

[She shrugs as well]

Suits are nicer than most, yes. Good for business, and formal occasions. I've worn them myself. But for a...rave? No, no you'd be overdressed by a fair margin.

Have you been to one of these raves before?

Once, about two decades ago. It was truly not my speed.

Too fast or too slow?

Too many people all pressed together. It's improper for strangers to touch like that.

The humans seem to like touching quite a bit in general.

[All that casual touching is a thing he definitely does not miss about Asgard either.]

But I am willing to make sacrifices for a good dance.

If you can find a good one. [She sniffs, wrinkling her nose. It's as much a sign of irritation and consternation as anything else.] Raves are the sort where people grind against one another and push and shove. At least, that's what I found.

[He grins.]

Depending if the people involved and the amount if alcohol dispensed, that sounds like great fun.

Then you'll probably enjoy it more than I did. I'm not going to be able to attend Jack's party tonight, I've got to clean up after this one sadly.

[Not that she'd go anyway, with you there. Jerkface.]

[He smiles sweetly.] You shall be missed. Do try not to work too hard whilst we're enjoying our drunken debauchery.

[She returns his smile, equally sweet.] I'll do my best. Give my regards to the musicians.

I shall share with then the full measure of your regard. Good day, lady. [He makes an elaborate bow, not quite mockery, and turns to go.]
