Who: Anyone who heard the announcement, caught a flier in the plaza, of heard by word of mouth. Everyone's welcome!
What: A rave! Well, "rave." Luceti makes everything a little different.
When: June 21st, nightfall to early morning
Where: the beach near Adele's house
Summary: It's the first day of summer! This calls for bonfires, naturally, but why not spice it up with loud music, flashing lights, drinks, dancing, and a conspicuous lack of curfew?
Rating: PG to PG-13, please move anything steamier to appointmentsor Adele will take the hose to you
Getting all the firewood, food, and drink out to the beach had been, honestly, the hardest part of preparation. Whatever else one might say about running things on magic, it certainly did cut down on the trouble of constructing edifices and machines to run the entertainment side of a party. As it stands, the setup is labour-intensive but otherwise minimal, and there's not much to do by sunset. Escape the house before Max and Zevran, the culture-displaced madmen, can put any more eyeliner on him. Arrive at the beach. Light the bonfires. Make sure the bonfire-cooking-compliant food is set out. Put up a table loaded with bottles, cups, ice, and permanent markers. Thank the resident doctor and quartermaster once more. Plug in the stereo system.
The speakers and light show have been with him since he left his house, in the form of the resident god of mischief, and they confer over sheets of paper with track names and times written on them for a little while just before the start. That's the last of it, and by the time the sky above the mountains is beginning to darken into twilight, the first thumping, trilling strains of dance music begin to echo out across the sand.
It's the shortest night of the year. Best make every second last.
[OOC: Feel free to post your character for mingling, since this entire event is very free-form anyway. For everyone's enjoyment there is a drinks table, food, several bonfires, the ocean (lifeguards not on duty, splash drunkenly at your own risk), and of course a dancing area with lights and music. Music will probably be primarily EDM with a heavy bass line, but occasionally wander into the territories of electro-swing and the like to give even less modern partygoers a chance to show off. The light show as well will stray out of the typical at times, with the expected abstract wheeling and flashing lights giving way to more complicated illusions. Don't be surprised to find yourself and your fellows occasionally dancing in a forest glen or a Rivendell look-alike for a few minutes at a time. Loki is working the tech booth, after all.
The party will go as long as people stay and are enjoying themselves, so have fun and tag around!]

"Sounds really pretty. We just tend to get a lot of rain in winter which is not quite so pretty." And when it does snow, everyone complains. Constantly. "The beach does have the advantage of not requiring us to wear coats and shoes. I kind of resent shoes at the best of times."
no subject
"I'm glad you had a good time tonight." Boy everyone going to be tired today though.

He grins when Helios leans a bit closer. "I did. I hope it wasn't too boring. Just nice to let loose every now and then. Want to wander off for a while then?"
no subject
Helios will blink out of his thoughts and nod, "if you're up for it dear. I-I wouldn't mind that at all." It's nice enough for a walk and they certainly don't have anywhere to be. One of the better things about Luceti is that there was no time constraints.
no subject
He grins though, standin up with a surprisingly fluid movement considering he was fairly drunk by now. He offered Helios a hand up though.
no subject
"You're not rambling, dear." And even if he was Helios would never say so. He was willing to listen if Max was willing to talk, and Helios wouldn't mind the rambling even if it was the case. He'll let Max help him up with a hand and dust off whatever amount of sand that may be on his person.
no subject
He huffs softly and grabs Helios's hand, starting to walk towards the surf, feet digging into the sand.
no subject
"It seems like both our older brothers are-are a bit a like in-in some regards." Though Helios prays to the gods that Alex wasn't abusive. He couldn't even begin to think and imagine Max going through what he has when he was younger. He takes in a deep breath of air, ocean, salt, and the light scent of burning wood drift and fill the air. It's a cool evening and perfect for an early morning stroll.
no subject
He gives Helios a curious look at the mention of his brother, remembering the scars on his arms and what he'd said. "Alex is stuck up and a jerk but he's not... you deserve better, Helios. You deserve so much better."
no subject
He frowns and nods the sore point of any conversation was talking about siblings, Nero wasn't something he had mentioned to many here. But there were just enough people who knew. "Oh! Yes of course, I-I know. Nero doesn't...like what I do either. I-I don't think that would ever change with any profession I took up though." He gives a small, if not strained, smile. He'll shrug his shoulders with a short sigh escaping his lips as he does so. His hand gently gripping Max's a little bit harder.
"But I've, ah, certainly found and m-met people here who are better at being a brother to me. It's...been nice to have that." He doesn't want anyone else to have to go through something like that.
no subject
"I'm glad that you've got people here. Good people. Good friends and family. People who love you."
no subject
Helios smiles and gives Max's forehead a light, gentle, kiss. "I'm glad too. I almost...wondered if there was anyone left in my own world who felt that way." To say he was in a bad spot is a bit of an understatement really.
"It's probably stupid of me to even think that, but when something has been ingrained into you for so long that you just...it just becomes all that you know. I almost forgot about the people that truly care about me over the ones against me, that I feel a bit foolish now for it. Luceti's helped and I'm grateful for the people who accepted me and-and my mistakes and haven't judged me for them."
Everyone makes mistakes. Helios has just been taught that his were unacceptable and worse than the rest. But Luceti has been kind and healing towards such thoughts and he's eternally grateful for everyone he's met and learned from.
no subject
He gives Helios a slightly concerned look at that. "Some things take over, yeah. I know how that is. Kind of." Maybe not quite the same but he'd seen it in Brendan, and he'd felt a fainter flicker of it in himself. "The people here are pretty special, got to say," he replied. "If it weren't for the shifts, it would be pretty perfect." Y'know, without having their heads screwed with constantly. "But the people, they're definitely special."
no subject
"And s-sometimes what happens in shifts isn't-isn't always that bad. I-I mean...it helped me find something special after all." Which wasn't an understatement, no matter how silly it may sound. Helios gives Max a sheepish look before he laughs. He'll pause to take a deep breath to taste the salty air and feel the still warmed sand beneath his feet. It was invigorating and it reminded him of times long since passed in someways.
no subject
He ducks his head, blushing a little at that, then gives Helios a wry smile. "Yeah. There is that. Guess I can't complain too much if this is the result."
no subject
"I never thought that I-I would...find someone again, especially not here. But you're right. I'm not complaining about the result, not in the least." There's a loving look in his eyes as his gaze moves from Max to the ocean. "I could never complain about something like this."
no subject
He pauses for a moment when Helios says that, his expression soft and affectionate as he looks at Helios. He does't reply, but just takes Helios's hand, drawing him a little way into the water next to him.

"Well, maybe you'll keep a sense of it at least. You've managed once, so you can manage again. I know you'll make it through everything. You're amazing like that."
no subject
Maybe there won't be a need for them to forget or have to have their memories altered and taken away. He'd like to think that to be the case in the future. He'll give Max's hand a gentle squeeze.
"We'll make the best and most of it together, hm?"
no subject
He turns a little, feeling the water pull the sand out from beneath his feet and pulls Helios into a fierce hug. "Yeah. You and me."
no subject
"Of course. I believe two magicians is-is better than one, don't you?" They'll be fine even with all the odds and ends that Luceti may bring.

"It'll be alright Max, I promise." He'll lightly pull away from the other and gently tug him towards some outlying rocks.
"Perhaps we should sit down and watch the sunrise? It's best to clear the atmosphere of such things anyway, hm?" It's too perfect a moment and too picturesque an image to have it sullied by such lingering thoughts.
