[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

Primrose Everdeen

[ Primrose shows up punctually and pleasantly - although this shouldn't be any surprise, since she signed herself up. She's made a clear effort to look nice, despite only being under the Friendship category, and actually went out to find an outfit previously in the week. What she came up with was a flower-patterned sundress, over which is a simple white cardigan. She's also left her hair down instead of in braids, though she's wearing an equally simple white headband to keep it out of her way.

She'll greet every match with a smile, and will periodically grab a cookie or top of her drink.

Matches are: Aang, Aleos, Anise, Asbel, Cross, Crystal, Donatello, Flora, Gold, Grune, Ion, Jason, Laura, Loki, Pascal, Tear, Tsuzuki, Twilight Sparkle, Xavin, Zatanna. She is more than willing to say hello to anyone she recognizes not on that list, however, or to anyone who approaches her between speed-dates. ]

In any case, when he approaches...oh jeez is he under dressed for this thing? All he's got on his pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a button up shirt on. When he moves over to her, he tilts his body to the side to get a good look. Yup, that name tag says Prim on it.

Approaching now, there's a smile on his face.]

Prim, right? My name's Cross.

[ Cross shouldn't worry in the least; Prim just planned for this a bit too much, wanting to make a good impression on people - she wanted to make more friends, especially considering how new she still was to this place - and she doesn't seem the least bit upset about the jeans and layered shirt combo.

Instead she smiles back at him, automatically searching for his name tag - oh, he gave her name.

Cross? She'd memorized the list of names given to her upon arrival, and that one was definitely familiar. ]

Oh! So it's the two of us for this round? I think our table's right over here...

[ She gestured, and went to take a seat herself, looking expectantly across at him - for the next five minutes, Cross had her undivided attention. ]

It's really nice to meet you - I'd give my name, but... [ She laughed a little. ] I've never really done this sort of thing before. Have you?

Mhm, it should be fun. We better make the most of our five minutes though.

[He sits down across from Prim. He better make the most of this time. After all, he can't catch his friends like Pokemon.]

Nice to meet you too. As for this whole, uh, dating slash lets meet friends thing? Nope. Not like this anyways.

[Leaning back in his seat a bit he gives her a curious look.]

So, what stuff are you into?

True! Before we know it, it'll be on to the next people. Are you doing just friendship, or do you have romance matches, too?

[ She's only friendship, but... ]

Well, I like gardening. [ That's true, now that's she's started it up. ] And medicine. I'd like to go into medicine someday, actually. And animals - I really like animals. I'm...I don't have a lot of hobbies other than that, sorry. But I'm learning.

How about you?

[The giant turtle looks a little shell-shocked as he sits down at Prim's table. He can be outgoing when he wants to, but he's never socialized in such a regimented and rapid-fire way before.]

Is this normal in other worlds?

Um...is what?

[ To say she's startled by the question is to say the very least. Prim looks flummoxed. Which part of this is he asking about...? ]

[Don gestures around, at the roomful of strangers pairing off and talking in a rush.]

Meeting people in five-minute segments?

I'm...not sure? I've never gone to a "speed dating" thing before. But I assume it's normal for speed dating.

[There's the next person on her list! With a smile stuck on her own face, Pascal bounds over towards Prim to say hello.]

Heyo, I'm pret-ty sure you're the next gal down for me. I'm Pascal, it's nice to meetcha!

[That said, she sticks out a hand for a big, friendly handshake!]

[ She gets an automatic smile back - though it's by no means not genuine. And yes, Prim will shake her hand. Pascal may note slight callouses there - not many, but the sort you'd get from helping out gardening, or doing work with animals. ]

Prim. It's nice to meet you, too! Gosh, this is all moving a bit fast, isn't it?

It is? My bad, I'll slow it down for you.

[Thinking that Prim is referring to the handshake, Pascal loosens her grip and gives Prim's hands a few more long, drawn out shakes before she lets go. Silly as it might be, the slower shakes give Pascal a chance to notice the state of her hands.]

Whoah, you must've been doing some serious work to get your hands like that.

[ ...Prim has to laugh at that, though she doesn't correct Pascal, since the question comes next. ]

What? Oh, not really. Just gardening and taking care of our goat.

[ And medical stuff. :T No big deal, for her particular homeworld. ] Back home, things are a bit more hands-on than they seem to be here.

[ Where food magically appears. ]

[Grune also went out of her way to dress up nicely for the event, despite being in the friendship category, too. It's a lot of fun to look your best!

She isn't so sure whether Primrose is on her list--she's not exactly being strict about sticking to it--but that doesn't matter. There's something she wants to say to this nice-looking young lady.]

My, I like your dress! You look very pretty.

[ They are birds of a feather!

Prim, at least, knows her list - and the nametag Grune is wearing is enough for her to mentally mark off another one on her list. ]

Thanks so much! I...well, I got it special, for this. [ She looks a little embarrassed about that. ] You look very nice too, Grune.

Oh, I'm Prim, by the way.

It's very nice to meet you, Prim. I'm Grune!

[She settles down across from her new friend (yes, as far as Grune is concerned, they're already friends), still smiling.] Everyone did such a nice job with the party, didn't they?

[She doesn't...quite understand what the event is all about, but hey. She's having a good time.]

I think so!

[ Prim's...more sure of what is going on, but a party could pretty much explain it, too. So it doesn't strike her as too odd. ]

Matching everyone up off of those questionnaires must have been a logistical nightmare...and the cookies are superb! I think Teddy and Billy deserve a huge amount of credit and praise for this.

[Aang winds up at her table, dressed somewhat semiformally in Earth-ish clothes. Once he sees his next partner is Prim, he puts on a joking smile. And he gives a mock bow before he seats himself.]

Hello there. It's an honor to meet you, Lady Primrose!

[prims]

[ He earns a laugh for his troubles, and a half-curtsy as she takes her own seat. ]

And you, Sir Aang! ...Gosh, I didn't even know you were doing this. Are you doing just friends, too?

[He gives a goofy grin at her display.]

Yep! After all, things are- er, they're complicated, and I can never have enough friends! I didn't realize a lot of them I'd know already.

Complicated? [ Is friendship complicated?? ] I've known a few, too, but it's never bad to spend more time with people I already like, I think.

[It's clear Laura hasn't put as much effort in, though she is more than comfortable in her boots, black jeans and tank top. She isn't here to look for meaningful connections, even though a few romance options have been put down for her, and friends shouldn't judge her on something like this.

She does pause at Prim's seat, recognising that the girl's a little younger than her and wondering if she should even make that attempt. She has enough trouble talking to people her own age, let alone those younger.

But. She's supposed to be attempting.]

Primrose Everdeen. I am Laura Kinney, may I sit? [Unlike Prim, Laura's expression is much more guarded.]

haha nope! i was just slammed with finals NOW I'M BACK.

[ Prim doesn't seem to mind the fact that Laura hasn't put in effort. By this point she's met plenty of people - those who dressed up and those who hadn't, those her age and those older (though none younger, yet) - and she's rather used to the variety.

Laura gets an open smile despite the guarded expression, though Prim makes a note not to be too invasive in questioning - not that she tends to that. ]

Hello, Laura - and of course you may. I believe we're next?

[She sits, back perfectly straight, her hands carefully held in her lap. She sits like an adult, a soldier, not a teenager, and she watches Prim passively, inhaling slowly before speaking, calmed slightly at the lack of anything uneasy coming of the girl]

What are your interests? [She's got g r e a t social skills what do you mean]

[ Whoa, jumping right into it, then. Prim smiles, though, not having to think too hard about that. ]

I'm interested in medicine. Gardening. Animals...and I like to read. And spend time with my family.

[ Her sister, but also Richard these days. ]
