[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[So she was here too, huh? He realises she's on his list too, and motions towards the chair.]

[As he waits for her to sit down, he speaks up again.]

Uh.. I really dunno how this thing works still, but we're meant to ask questions and stuff right? Even though we already know each other...

[She smiles and takes the seat across from him, trying to ignore how just being with him makes her stupidly happy.] We can just talk to one another if you want.

Have you... have you done anything fun with your parents since the last time we saw each other?

Uh, lets see... Oh! [He holds a finger up.] Yeah, I cooked a cake with my Mom! For Father's day y'know? And I hung out with my Dad, it was fun.

[Hinata nods with a pleased smile on her face, but a part of her wonders about her father and the rest of the clan, their friends, left back in their world and her smile slips a little.]

I am happy for you.

Mmm. [He's smiling back at her.]

What about you? Did you do anythin' since you came over?

[Oh, good, a distraction!]

I had dinner with Sakura-san which consisted of things that were sweet and more than likely unhealthy for us. I made dinner for Lee-san and Neji-niisan... Um, I discovered the local bakery. The proprietress is a nice woman by the name of Rapunzel-san. And she makes wonderful cinnamon buns. I have seen more of our friends from home as well.

A-and, I am beginning to fit in at the clinic in the village.

I haven't done nearly as much as you, though I guess I started making some new friends here, maybe.

Oh? Wh-who have you met? [She looks up at him with an interested expression. She's always loved to hear about Naruto making new friends, since as children he was nearly alone all the time.]

All sorts! I met some guy that invited me to a party, then this other guy who said he's playing something called baseball and I'm gonna go play, and win! [The remembering names part hasn't quite happened yet.]

Er- then I've met people I already know, like Konan! She's real nice. And some girl that's starting a club where unsociable people have gotta write letters to people. Er, I think I maybe signed Neji up for it though, so don't tell him, right?

I have spoken with Suzumiya-san. I offered to be one of the people who wrote to others. [The less said about Haruhi is probably for the best, considering how Hinata and she ended. However, she can still smile happily when Nartuo is so overly enthusiastic about everything.]

I am glad that you are enjoying yourself. You sound as if you have found things to fill your time, unlike when we last spoke.

Oh,you know her too? [Unfortunately Naruto doesn't know about anything that happened between them, though...]

You'd better do it, I heard that if people don't write, they're gonna have to do forfeits in maid outfits. [Do you want to have to wear a skimp maid outfit Hinata? DO YOU?]

Yeah, still strange not having anything to do though. Like, war or missions you know?

I spoke with her when she asked about the Hydra project. It was...interesting. [Yep, Hinata sure is trying to be tactful. And the better question about the maid outfit is do you want to see it, Naruto? Do you?]

A-ah, I gave my word, so of course I will be going through with it, Naruto-kun. It is a matter of living up to our shared nindo, yes?

And...I have heard that there are missions for us to take. If you handle a mission for the Malnosso, but they are on a volunteer basis.

Yeah, those missions are different though. I dunno if I wanna work for those guys or not.

[But yes. Shared nindo! he grins.] That's right! We'll send our letters and never give up, no matter what!

I have not looked into seeing what missions are available yet. Although, Shikamaru did warn me that the Battle Dome records while there is someone using it. So it is best not to use anything you wish to keep secret.

[She smiles widely in the face of his grin.] Yes! I will do my best!

They do? I didn't know that. Thanks, Hinata! I guess I should be careful with what happens in that place then, if they record everything.

[And he grins back.] Great! Let's show 'em how great Konoha ninjas can be!

I know that many of our friends, myself included, prefer to do any practicing in the forests. Gai-sensei likes the mountains, if I recall correctly. Maybe...maybe you might try those places instead of the battle dome.

[His encouragement is enough to make her feel as if she is doing something wonderful.] Yes, let's!

Doing it in the forest's probably better. Reminds me more of Konoha too you know.

[There's a quick pause:]

Wanna go out there some time? [Training.]

Yes, I feel that way too. [She's aware that he's still talking about training, but the way that he's phrased it makes it sound more like a...date.]

I-I would like that.

Yosh! [Thumbs up!]

Hey, wanna go tomorrow??

Great! Let's meet um.. let's see... at twelve! Yeah?

Yes, I will be done with my hours at the clinic by then. We can meet at the forest near there. I can bring lunch as well.

It's a date!! [Just look at that enthusiastic grin and nice guy pose.]

[She smiled and opened her mouth to say something, but she was surprised when the bell rang, signalling the end of their "date".

She stood reluctantly from the table.]

I enjoyed our conversation, Naruto-kun. I hope that you continue to have fun this evening. I will see you tomorrow afternoon.

Mm, mm! [He doesn't get up, instead raising an arm to wave her off.]
