[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[Most of the reason Tear had signed up was to show support for her friends, so when she comes in there's an air of uncertainty to her, even if she had dressed a bit more casually for the occasion. But as time passes and once she starts talking a bit with some of her partners, that uncertainty becomes amusement, even with the occasional bout of awkwardness from her. She had never been to something like this before, after all. Though there are quite a number of people to talk to, the melodist isn't going to be one to turn away anyone who wants to talk to her, partner or not.

Toward the end, however, she might be rightfully tired.]

[It's Tear! Aang's only talked to her over the journals but he recognizes her quickly once they end up at the same table.]

Hey, Tear! How are you? I really like your clothes!

[Tear recognizes Aang right away too, and is ready with a smile when he comes over. The comment about her clothing makes her blush a little though, the outfit had been a last-minute decision honestly.]

Oh, thank you Aang. It was brought to my attention that it would be better to dress more casually than to wear my uniform like I usually do.

[Aang's easily impressed and quick to give compliments, so he's an easy source of romance-free flattery.]

You wear a uniform usually? But that makes sense! It's best to relax and be comfortable when getting to know new people!

I do, and I've been told that I shouldn't wear it as often as I do. [Some habits are hard to get rid of even when you've been in another world so long, where that uniform was useless.]

But I have to say, a number of the people I've spoken with tonight are those I already knew.

Well you should stick with whatever feels right to you!

You're right, though. I've been seeing lots of people I know already, too. Maybe there needs to be better organization to this thing. But it can't hurt to get to know someone you already know better!

Maybe there does need to be, but for the number of people here I think it's run rather well. [She shrugs a bit, at least no one had started a brawl or anything, the atmosphere was rather nice.]

I don't mind speaking with those I already know though, I believe it's been some time since we've talked face to face and I would like to learn more about you.

[It's towards the end of the night. He's sort of mentally exhausted too, but he's here at his next table - his tie is finally loosened but the suit is on now. And he's still got his tail of course. Bur his hair is undone now too. But as you said - tired]]

Rin? [His concern was a little welcome, even if she would be ready to brush away any hints of tiredness she has to speak with him proper as she offers him her hand.]

I'm all right, thank you for asking. It's simply been a busy night.

Yeah, Rin. [And he shakes the hand - man it's been way, way too many handshakes, tonight] It's been long for all've us.

I think so, but I hope you found whatever it was you signed up for.

Honestly... my housemate signed me up, so I don't even really know what that was.

Your housemate did? It seems that there's quite a number here who share your situation. [Not that she didn't understand some of their intentions, but it was still rude...]

[It might have been some time since they last spoke, but Pascal noticeably brightens when she realises who her next match up is.]

Tear, hey! It's been awhile, huh? I saw you before and I was totally hoping I'd get the chance to say hi.

[Tear's own expression brightens in much the same way when she realizes its Pascal, though her smile is a bit sheepish.]

So it has been, I'm glad we're being given a chance to talk. But you know you can approach me at any time, right?

Sure I do! If I ever see you out and around the village I'll totally come over and give you a great big hello. Ooh, maybe I should've said hey to you when I was on my last break. That wouldve been way better than just standing around and waiting to get back into meeting people!

[Sure that would end up screwing over the order of the matches, but oh well!]

You've had a number of breaks as well? I admit, I wasn't anticipating this many people when I signed up for this.

Yeah, I think my last one was my third? [Shrug.] It's like there's a party going on or something, only you've gotta sit out now and then. I didn't know what to expect when I signed up but I totally wasn't thinking this place would be packed!

[But that's by no means a bad thing, she's happy about having the chance to meet so many people and hang out with a large crowd like this. Even the breaks are fun if she manages to catch someone to talk to until her next turn.]

You mean it's not common for people to sit down at parties? [Count her among those people who has never been to a celebration like this before Luceti. Even if the last time she attended one she'd been told that such things didn't really matter...]

I suppose... right now does seem like one... [She did dress up differently from her usual uniform, too.]

[ Prim is wearing a rather nice floral-patterned sundress with a white cardigan over it, and has her hair down, kept back with a matching white headband. And she is also sporting her nametag, of course. So, not as casual as Prim...

But she'll meet up with Tear a bit nearer the end, though not quite there yet (unless she's the last match, in which case well then. ]

Hi! Tear? I think you're Tear. I'm starting to get my list mixed up...

Yes, I'm Tear. And you must be... Primrose, I take it? [She offers a friendly and reassuring smile, even extending her hand to shake Prim's.]

There are some of us who have been assigned long lists, I've noticed.

I think I've gotten less than some of the others since I only signed up for friendship, but...

Yes, I wonder if what I wrote on my form was perhaps too broad... [Not that she had pinpointed yet what exactly it was.]

Have you been having a good time, at least?

I might have done the same. Any age or gender, so long as they were looking for friends.

[ But a lot of people opted out of "any age", so her list is reasonable. ]

I have! I've been meeting a lot of new people, which...well, that was why I signed up to start with.

My reasons for signing up were more for the benefit of my friends who already had, I've gathered that these gatherings are usually for the purpose of finding a romantic partner. [She blushes only a little, wondering if anyone here had seen her and thought she was such a person.]

It's good to know that you are enjoying yourself, do you mind telling me if you attend the school?
