[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[She leans back in her chair, crossing her arms as she seems to think over what to say, her green eyes thoughtful.]

Okay. Had any luck tonight? Fallen madly in love?

Oh, if it's "luck" I've had so much more than you'd expect! After all, our hosts paired me up with fifteen gorgeous women. Even a man like me has to be thankful. [And he rests his chin on a closed hand] As for love - well, not yet.

Mmm. I'm not even looking for anything. Other people signed me up. [She smirks.]

But you always seem to be hunting...perhaps someone will surprise you.

Hey, everyone's looking for something, even if they don't know it yet. For all you know, you could find that thing called love there! [And he points in a random direction, coincidentally pointing at Wolverine] Or there! [Coincidentally pointing at Korra] Or there! [Coincidentally pointing at the lounge area, but more specifically at Clementine over there. Can you tell he's not really looking where he's pointing? Because it's all leading up to!]

[Her green eyes follow his pointing, and with each one she is having a harder and harder time laughing, so when he points to himself she can't help but snrk, covering her mouth with her hand.]

Sorry. S-sorry. Just...Logan's my trainer and Korra is Korra and...

[A little giggle, and then she sucks in a breath.]

Besides. Whew. Right. Besides that, I am not looking for love. At all.

[Okay, he giggling gets to him, and he laughs shortly himself. He seriously pointed at Korra? Oh man, that was a bust. He shrugs and]

Are you sure, because I think you and Korra-chan would be great.

[This is clearly a joke. And his over-dramatic shrug shows that this is a joke]

But no, no, I get that, Asami-san. This world's idea of "fate" isn't very conducive to it anyway.

The dark haired girl can't help but smirk at that. "I'm sure you and every other boy would think that." She knew what their minds were like, after all.

"No...not really. Even if you did find someone here, there's no assurance they won't vanish tomorrow, right?" She frowned. "Of course, if you have someone back home, you can't be sure they'll ever come here, either..."

His grin gets jut a little more crooked as he listens to her make the same sort of statements and conclusions everyone ends up making. Saki, Anri, Katara, others. Xion, Riku, Luke.

"Plus there's always the nasty thing that this is a small town. A break up doesn't mean you'll never see the offender again.

Sorrrrry.

"And everyone will know, I imagine." Asami glanced around all the people nearby. They made up a huge chunk of the population she'd seen so far, really...

"No secrets in a place this small. Messy break-up, and the whole world knows."

"Oh no, Asami-san, don't misunderstand. There's more secrets than one man will ever learn."

His. Katara's. Aang's. Xion's. Riku's. Shikamaru's. Mikado's. He drums his fingers once on the table before carrying on, "Everyone in Luceti has secrets. Everyone has a history, and for better or worse, we're filled with the most exceptional and most damaged people in all the worlds you can imagine... plus, a few average men like me to look like less of a project."

But. And here's the but. "But, you're right about a breakup, if the legacy of Riku-kun is any indication."

"Somehow, I think you're selling yourself short," she said with a faint frown. But maybe he was normal and boring, who knew? She wasn't the best judge.

"...Riku-kun? What happened?"

"Short's got nothing to do with it, Asami-san. I'm not establishing in a world of might and magic, my real talent's be twenty times more charming than Riku-kun. Sure, it's not as flashy as catching things in your shadow or waterbending, but I'm sure the ladies appreciate it!"

Oh, nailed it. Ace deflection.

"Oh, you're very good at this, I agree completely." A beat, and a smirk.

"But that's not what I asked."

Oh, boo. To be fair, he's smearing Riku's name already... wait, that's not fair. He leans back in his chair, looking briefly contemplative before he taps the bracelet Katara gave him with the opposite hand and presses on.

"He's someone on my floor who had a messy breakup with his ex I really shouldn't be using an an anecdote. Not that we're friends enough for those 'rules' to apply, but I ought to give the guy a little break, as uncharming as he might be."

Oh, whatever, he'll go the distance, leaning forward. "After all, he's got the last laugh, given he's the one with a girlfriend now."

"Hmm," Asami leaned back as well, listening quietly, her attention drawn to the bracelet he's wearing but not sure how to ask about it.

"Well, a messy breakup doesn't really make it harder to date later on, unless you let it." She shrugged. "Was he trying to get a girlfriend? Maybe you're just trying too hard."

"What, could it be that Asami-san goes for a more stand-offish character?"

He latches right on to that, leaning forward once more. Not wanting to talk about whatever tryhardism he has going on or Riku and his dating score for two hotties.

Asami just rolled her eyes again.

"It could be that Asami doesn't have any problems getting a boyfriend when she wants one."

Which. She doesn't. Because she has one. He's just in another universe.

"Oh, I've no doubt! Asami-san's C game is equivalent to people seeing a solid A. Maybe even an S rank!"

Again, he clearly believes this is hilarious. Hence his little laugh at it.

"...A what?" She can guess those are scores but she's never heard that particular scale.

"And hey, it's not my fault. Good breeding." She was mostly joking.

"Oh yeah? I'll try not to hold that against you, then."

Eyebrow arch. Just a little one, and he lop-sidedly grins.

[She just laughs softly and shakes her head.]

So...right. Who else have you talked to yet?

[generalflirt]

Mmmm. A few people, but I wouldn't want to make you jealous. After all, this is our five minutes. Unless, of course, you want this to me a "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" deal.

[And he folds his arms behind his head as he says this]
