[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[She returns the bow, surprised and pleased to see that someone else does that and she won't seem so out of place with her formality.]

Y-yeah, me too. [Gulping, he takes a seat opposite her, his tail all but immediately curling behind him as he's slightly overwhelmed by the idea that there is some sort of formal girl in front of him. And in light of that, he might as well co-opt any potential faux-pas he will make. He knows he'll make]

And uh - you mind if I go with "Hinata-chan" or even just "Hyuuga" or something? I'm uh, not great at being formal. Honestly.

[She gives him a small smile.] Hinata-chan will be fine, Okumura-kun. Thank you for asking.

[rashness]

Alright, awesome. Thanks! [And he visibly relaxes. ...Now for the conversation part of this. Uh, uh, uh-]

How's your night been going?!

[He blurts that out perhaps a bit too loud, oops]

[He seems so happy now that she's released him from any formality on his part. She is reminded of Naruto-kun and Kiba-kun in some way and that makes her smile even more.

Especially when he talks like that. Definitely a lot like Kiba-kun.]

My night has...been interesting. I-I normally do not do things like this, and it has been a little stressful. How about for yourself?

[rashness]

Oh man, I've never done something like this at all. But my housemate signed me up and she's shier than me, so if she's got this, I've got this. [And he nods at this, to confirm that he's resolved. And the nervously adjusts his tie - he knows it's on perfectly, but it does feel like it's choking him after this far into the afternoon]

[She isn't sure how to take him. He seems uncomfortable in his clothing, but after many years of growing up in a formal household, Hinata has learned to ignore those kinds of things.

She looks down at the papers she's supposed to be using to evaluate her 'dates', but nothing there is really helpful.]

Do you...do you have any hobbies?

[rashness]

Well, I'm pretty good at cooking. S'something I grew up doing for my whole family, so I've just kinda kept it up since then. Other than that, nothing much other than normal stuff like comics or video games. [Sheepishly. Actually-]

What about you? Oh, and your favorite food too, maybe? I bet I could make it sometime.

[Ignore how this is only five minutes]

[She blushes as he asks her about herself. It is so much easier when she can be the one to ask the questions. However, she can only assume that it is fair that she answers him as well.] I-I like to cook as well, but my favourite thing to do is press flowers. A-and I like cinnamon buns and red bean soup.

[rashness]

[Oh, both of those are easy. He makes a mental note of those, smiling for her and giving a nod. But then- He looks thoughtful, for a moment-] How's pressin' flowers work? I know about growing and arranging them, a little, if that helps.

[He does sound genuinely interested, to his credit. If he noticed her blush (he really hasn't - he's too used to it from Shiemi's allergies) he doesn't seem to comment on it]

[She's a little surprised that he's actually asking her about how her hobby works. It's such a docile and quiet thing that most people just ignore it. Even Kiba just rolls his eyes.]

Y-you cut them, dry them a little, and then put them into large books until they are completely dried and flat. After a few weeks you can use them to decorate things. I...I used to frame them back home to put them on my walls.

[Wow that... that does admittedly sound totally boring, but he was attentive for that, and he nods all the same. Other people do have different hobbies after all, and as long as its not hurting anyone, that's cool]

Bet it looks pretty in the end.

They do, and it is a perfect way of preserving flowers that were given as gifts or are from memorable occasions. [She gives him a small smile.] I understand that it is not a very exciting hobby, but it goes well with the flower arranging, tea ceremony and other things I had to learn as a girl in my family.

I also like training my taijutsu skills.

Like, hand to hand combat stuff? [He tries not to be a typical boy here, but while he does find it interesting she's from some well to do family where she had to learn stuff he's associate with princesses more than anything, the combat stands out] I've been tryin' to get that down more lately, 'cus Wolverine's intent on it.

Yes, I practice a style created by my clan generations ago. Everyone in my family learns it as a child.

[She cocks her head to the side for a moment.] Who is this Wolverine?

He's... [Actually he saw him earlier. Rin glances around the room to see if he's still here and- oh, there he is. He has to stand to get a good point at him, but he points across the room at the hairy, bloody, Canadian over yonder. But now he looks at it... man he's almost embarrassed] That... guy. ...He normally looks cooler.

Has he just returned from one of the missions that I have read about? [Truthfully, she's seen worse growing up in a shinobi village. Besides, the man—who reminded her of Ibiki-san for some reason—seemed to be perfectly fine.] Is he your teacher?

[rashness]

Yeah, I guess he must've-- [Oh don't just itch your armpits, come on, Logan] -- and yeah, kinda. Here, anyway.

[Wolverine's behaviour doesn't really strike Hinata as anything special. Her teammates were guys and sometimes Kiba and Akamaru weren't exactly civilized most of the time. She just looks at her 'date'. Surprisingly, he isn't as stressful to speak with as the others.]

What are your favorite foods then, Okumura-kun?

[rashness]

Sukiyaki, easily! [And he says this with a wide grin, turning from Logan to throw a hundred volt smile back at her] I love big hot pots like that, where you share it with a group've people!

So you enjoy nabe then? That is not a difficult type of food to prepare. [She can't help but return his smile, as it is so infectious.] I-I have only had that a few times, to be honest.

[rashness]

No, it's not difficult at all, but it's still the best, particularly when you've gotta big group of friends or family. If you really haven't had it that much, you should come over to Shiemi and I's place [It's a little lonely without Izumo anyway] - we could have some then. Maybe invite a few other people over.

You could come over to the apartment building where I live with the other shinobi. I am sure that they would enjoy something like that. Barbeque is actually very popular with Asuma-sensei's team.

[rashness]

[Somehow, despite having just casually invited her over, the idea of being invited is a little more awkward. He nods though, all the same] Yeah, sure, I could do that sometime. [...Wait did she say-] So you're another ninja?

[She realizes what she's done and she blushes from her neck to the top of her face.] For-forgive me I sounded forward. I almost forgot that I was speaking to someone I just met.

[When he asks her about being a ninja, she nods.] Y-yes, I am a kunoichi from Konoha, like Tenten-san, Sakura-san and Ino-san.
