[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[After the whistle, Rei finds herself across from a girl she doesn't know, a definite change from the majority of her "dates" tonight. Bowing, she takes a seat with a faint smile. She's not really dressed up, but she certainly looks elegant and friendly in her voluminous miko robes.]

Hello, my name is Rei. Rei Hino. It seems we're partners tonight, so let's try and enjoy our time tonight. You are...[She checks the list she got.] Crystal-san?

[She realizes she sounds a little stilted, but...she's nervous, and not really sure what to make of all this at all.]

[Whoa, she looks really elegant... Crys feels a little jealous in a way. She's getting older, so she pays a little more attention to her looks.] Yes, that's me. It's very nice to meet you, Rei. [And she'll just jump right into the questions.] Your outfit is lovely. What kind of clothing is it?

[faithfulflame]

Oh, thank you. [Rei inclines her head again.] These are hakama. [She gestures to her pants] And this is a haori. [Tugging on the white top]

I'm a Miko, a priest in my homeland and unfortunately I just came from work at the shrine here in the village and had no time to change.

[kickingcatcher]

Are you the one who maintains that shrine? You do a wonderful job, it's very nice. I guess it's lucky your work clothes look formal, I thought for sure you dressed up. [Could've fooled Crys.]

[faithfulflame]

I am, and thank you so much! It means a lot to me, the shrine. It's named in honor of my best friend, Usagi Tsukino, who left shortly before it was finished.

[Rei's smile widens a fraction]

And thank you. You look lovely yourself. It's a very fashionable outfit.

That's probably one of the sweetest gestures I've ever heard.

[She blushes a little at the compliment.] Thank you. I'm not exactly smart when it comes to fashion, so I wound up taking a wild guess.

[faithfulflame]

It's nice of you to say so.

[Rei shrugs and offers a rueful little grin] Me either, not really. I'm just lucky that people think these robes are fashionable.

So, um. What do you do for fun here?

[Since...this apparently is a romance matching...]

They make you look like an adult. [And she assumes Rei is around her age.]

I mostly spend my time researching and training my Pokemon. Though, I've been working on getting out into the village more to meet people. Running out of things to study, after all.

[faithfulflame]

Well thank you, that's kind of you to say. I...actually just turned seventeen though.

[Rei's eyebrow lifts slightly.]

Pokemon? You're a trainer? Goodness!

[She's from the era where Pokemon was just being introduced to Japan. Familiar with them in concept, and through having met Professor Oak during his brief stay in Luceti.]

Really? Congratulations! [Crystal is especially happy because she looks like the kind of person she could befriend. Wow, this is really working out.]

Mhm! I grew up around Pokemon, so I've wanted to learn as much as possible.

[faithfulflame]

Hmm, I don't know much about them myself, but I have heard a little about them.

[Rei's quite glad to have run into Crystal herself, she seems like a lovely person to spend time with.]

What sort do you keep with you?

[kickingcatcher]

Yeah, there's only a handful of trainers in Luceti. [Well, since most of them left anyway.] I only have three with me now. A Grass type, a Flying type, and a Fire type.

[faithfulflame]

Fire? [Well that catches Sailor Mars interest.] Well that's certainly intriguing.

[kickingcatcher]

You have a particular fondness for fire?

[faithfulflame]

More an affinity for it, if truth be told.

[She raises a finger, a flame flickering on the tip. She's a magician, too!]

[kickingcatcher]

[Normally, she'd be surprised. But now she's just happily curious.] You have fire abilities? It's unique to see them in people.

[faithfulflame]

I'm a magician, in my own way as well. [The fire shifts into a little crow and starts floating in circles around her fingers]

It's something I've learned here.

[kickingcatcher]

[Whoa, okay, that trick is pretty cool.] Do you mean from the spirits?

[faithfulflame]

Some. But also from a friends Helios-san teaches magic, and I've always had a little bit of a gift working with fire. And...well...I'm also a little psychic.

[kickingcatcher]

You mean like telepathy and telekinesis? [That's... new. In people, at least.]

[faithfulflame]

Not quite that strong. Sometimes I get flashes from people's minds but that's rare. I just see things, like...visions.

[kickingcatcher]

Do you mean something like brief glances into the future?

[faithfulflame]

Exactly. And I can read fortunes, too.
