[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[Reaching into the fold of her robe, she slips out an ofuda and slides it across the table to him]

I'm an exorcist too, of course.

Ooooh, so you use these seals, huh? [He's wary to actually touch them, because Shura's used them before on demons and he knows some things like holy water still apply to him, so he doesn't really want to get shocked or sealed or whatever here. He instead leans over them, looking interested]

I'm training to be a knight, myself, but I know a lotta' my Aria buddies use these sorts of things.

[faithfulflame]

I do, among other things. It's something I learned from my grandpa.

[She quirks her head to one side, even more curious. Mostly about the new words.]

Knight? You're a warrior, then?

[rashness]

Yeah. [He nods to his sword] That's what I'm good at when it comes to it with fighting, so.

[Her grandfather, huh]

[She peers at the sword, still smiling.]

Impressive. An exorcist and a sword fighter.

[rashness]

Well, I'm an exorcist 'cus I'm a sword fighter, it's sort of the same thing. [A beat and...] At True Cross Academy, there's five meisters you can pick up - knight, dragoon, aria, tamer, and doctor. I'm workin' on knight, which is sword fighting. I'm pretty strong, and all.

[faithfulflame]

An academy for exorcists? Goodness. That must be very interesting. What do the other...meisters...entail, if I may ask?

[rashness]

Dragoon's someone that specializes in guns, which is something my brother's good at. Doctor's well... a doctor, but you learn magic and demonic herbs and stuff too. My brother's also good at that. [He's listing these off on his fingers] Tamers are people that summon demons and get 'em to fight other demons for 'em, Shiemi's doing that. And then aria's people who memorize the death verses demons have and use the ofuda and chants and all sorts of other stuff. Honestly, they're probably the strongest for exorcism, but they're also the ones the rest of us gotta protect.

[faithfulflame]

That's interesting. There's nothing quite like that in my world, but there aren't many demons or exorcists, either. Not anymore, anyway.

[Of course, there's the Dark Kingdom and all. But she stops and gives him a weak, apologetic smile.]

Forgive me, though, for putting you on the spot like that. I've asked you a lot of questions and it's been unfair to you.

[rashness]

Nah, I don't really mind. I've been stuck on what to say here and there during this afternoon.

[Sheepishly. Sure, he got a little textbook for his liking, there, but at the same time, it filled a decent chunk of time. Not that he's the best at explaining much of anything, but...]

But uh, I guess it's my turn so... uh. What's with the outfit?

[faithfulflame]

This? [Rei shrugs] I came from working at the shrine, and didn't have a lot of time to change. Does it look bad? I admit it's a little traditional when compared to...[She smiles] your suit.

[rashness]

N-no! It doesn't look bad or nothing. I'm actually kinda over-dressed, I just was seeing most other people being casual, so I was surprised.

[In his haste to try to not be offensive, he realizes - wait, shrine? He'd heard of a shrine, hadn't he]

[faithfulflame]

Oh, don't worry about it, Okumura-san, your suit is pretty splendid.

[She'll leave him an opening for more questions, and stop teasing now...]

[rashness]

Th-thanks. [Wow he should not be thus flustered this one was even friendship!! In fact, he looks down at his list to check and make sure of this]

[faithfulflame]

Of course.

[Another shrug. It's definitely friendship, but Rei's got no problem complimenting someone who's been nice.]

[rashness]

[Crap now he doesn't have a topic. He can just feel the clock ticking. How long as it been? Probably four minutes, what with this pause feeling like forever and all the long winded stuff he had to do with the exorcist explanation. Crap, crap...]

[Rei to the rescue?]

So, Okumura-san are you from Japan?

[rashness]

--Yeah! I mean, yes, I am. I'm from the True Cross Academy campus town. [PHEW...] What about you?

[faithfulflame]

Tokyo, in Asakusa. I live in Hikawa shrine with my grandfather. Though that may not exist in your world.

[rashness]

Unless it's supposed to be famous, Iunno. I don't go to Tokyo proper that much.

[faithfulflame]

Not really, it's a little small. What prefecture is the academy you attend in?

[rashness]

[Rin goes to answer that- and he full intends to answer it-! ..But then the sound goes off which says the five minutes are up. O o p s. He hangs his head, but grins back up at her]

I guess we gotta go get new partners now.

[This timed thing is weird]

[Rei nods and rises. The timed thing was odd, but it was nice all the same. Rin seemed pleasant, someone she could actually see herself making friends with.]

I suppose so. It was nice talking to you, Okumura-san. If you ever want to talk, or would like an omamori or a fortune please come by Tsukino Shrine. I'm there most days, barring Malnosso interference. It's across from Community Building Two, if you need directions.

[She turns to go with a friendly wave.]

[And with a smile, he... oh he doesn't even need to get up this time, looking at his list. So he waves her off before going to write down the review thing on her]
