What: Magic Club revival meeting

Where: Down by the western lake
Summary: Helios promised to have a magic club meeting and that is what he going to do.
Rating: PG

The time has arrived for the next meeting of the magic club and Helios has gone all out to make sure that new feathers and old members alike are comfortable and participating. With some minor preparations of some food and drinks there will be a few tables set up around the small area near the lake as well as a good amount of chairs too. Depending on the turn out this could go very well and he hopes it does.

There will be a few miscellaneous items about for anyone who wants to show off their magical skills as well. Said items include some chalk, some targets, and even colored sands for people to demonstrate with. While this was a time to talk about future projects and ideas one could also find friends and interested peoples who were more...hands on about things too. The area around the club meeting is also significantly cooler than outside the little bubble Helios has made to keep the heat out.

((ooc: Let's pretend that Helios sent out varying notifications for everyone for the magic club meeting. Even people who aren't magically inclined are free to stop by and just watch/ask questions. Filial spirit users are also free to come by as well! Innate magical abilities are not the only things accepted~))

[He's always been a mostly solitary type when it comes to magic, except when he was training as an exorcist and had been forced to work with other people, so this is a new experience for him, seeing people gathered just to discuss and perform it. It was kind of nice though, getting to really discuss things.]

[ And Helios knows all about Max's solidarity when it came to magical applications and use, so he's very happy and surprised when he sees the other man here as well. ]

I'm glad that you could make it, Max. I-I know large events discussing magic isn't your, ah, thing. S-So I'm...very grateful that you came. [ And it also might take the nervous edge off as Helios hasn't had a club meeting like this before. He always does want to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy after all. But having someone him back him does loads for his confidence at times. ]

[Max smiles at him, bumping his shoulder affectionately, fingers brushing.]

It's not something I'm used to, but you're running it and it'll be fun. Besides, I like showing off.

It's surely to be spectacular I can assure you that. The last one was and this one is-is shaping up to be that way as well. [ Helios smiles as his own fingers brush up against Max's. ]

You do, hm? Well it seems like this will be you're lucky day. I'm eager to see what you've got up your sleeve.

Good to know. I'm looking forward to it.

Heh, you'll just have to wait and see, yeah? I'll try to make it good.

I've no worries that it won't be fantastic, dear. [ Helios will motion off towards the beverage table. ]

Do you want anything to drink? I figured it won't be much of a meeting without some food involved. It also helps draw people in. [ And here he'll laugh. ]

You have such faith in me. It's nice.

Oooh, I won't say no. What have we got?

Well of course I do. You're a very talented mage after all, I don't see why I shouldn't have faith in you. As for drinks we have primarily soda, juice, iced tea. I-I'm not sure a group of mages getting drunk would be such a good thing. [ And here he'll laugh. ]

You say the sweetest things. Thank you.

Heh, probably a wise decision. Drunken spellcasting usually ends up with chaos.

Oh yes. I can only imagine. Luckily I haven't been to such parties before coming here, but you don't know how many times I've heard stories about it. People's skin turning polka dotted, people have tails and beaks and things like that. [ He laughs a little. ]

Quite chaotic really.

Getting an entire hall of residence evacuated at 3am. Good times.

I can only imagine the chaos involved in such a thing. College was always a bit...chaotic to begin with. Not that I-I really partook in any of those things. I was...a bit of a loner s-seldom interacting with the unruly sort. I preferred the library over most places, unsurprisingly.

[ Surprising since now he's quite social though. But prior to Elise helping him Helios was always solitary and often by himself a byproduct of Nero's unfortunate hand in his growing up. ]

Did you learn magic then? At college I mean?

I was uh... kind of a tearaway in university, I guess. Lots of parties, lots of drinking, ill advised escapades around Oxford at night. Poor you, getting stuck with the unruly sort now.

[He says it teasingly though, amused more than anything.]

Me? No. I learnt at home mostly, picked up bits from family and their friends. And then after university I trained as an exorcist. You?

Quite the troublemaker, hm? [ He just gives Max a light nudge with a smirk to follow. ] Varron tried to get me to go to a few parties. I wasn't very...keen on the idea. Far too, um, crowded for me at-at the time. I wasn't very good with, ah, people and those sorts of things. [ He wasn't very good at socializing period. Helios laughs shaking his head as he does so. ]

It's a nice change of pace. I can't say I mind the unruliness in you. It's...endearing to an extent. [ As long as there's no drunken spell casting and ill advised escapades, he can deal with it. Though he too responds with some teasing and amusement as he shakes his head. ]

Not-not out in the open. I had to be a bit more secretive about it. I went to a regular college in America. There weren't too many people who could use magic around. There were college strictly for the magicking community but I wanted to see something new and different, you know?

You could say that. [He grins and leans against Helios for a moment.]

You seem fine now. I mean, organising parties and gatherings like this. And heh, I'll try not to get too scandalous. Don't worry about that.

Yeah, that makes sense. Some places do magic lessons, but mostly it's taught in families, in coven, wherever. You pick things up as you go along.

Ah w-well I've...had lots of help and support to get where I am today. So I have a good amount of people to thank for that. [ A sobering thought to think that he'll forget all of it once he leaves. ]

It makes me...hesitant sometimes to want to leave this place, you know? Magic is done so freely and openly here a-and it's not a shameful or terrifying practice to anyone here. It's...selfish though to want that. I-I should be more than happy to be here or back home. [ But here he had love, he had family and friends and he had learned things about himself that would just vanish back into obscurity when he left. ]

I've learned things about myself here that I. I don't know what to do when or-or if I learn about them back at home. Having the support I had when it h-happened was what kept me grounded and hopeful. [ Going through learning about Apep again like that is by far one of the scariest and anxiety inducing thoughts he could think about right now. ]
