Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

[This is where Makie glances wryly at the small and mostly empty drinking cabinet across from her which nevertheless has a nice reflective surface that shows her pale features and slightly sunken eyes.]

Oh yes, just perfect, I agree. You make a terrible salesperson, Avon lady.

Hey! Now who said I was a lady! I'll have you know there's a one hundred percent man standing outside your door right now. So you'd better open up before you miss out on a great view for your eyes.

With that luxurious hair, I must admit. People could be confused about your gender. [He can hear the latch go.] It's only a view I've seen hundreds of times before. What else do I get?

[Score! So long as Fluttershy doesn't find out. He and Makie did have a mutual split, but some days he did really miss her kisses. Of course, if he knew Makie-- Let's just see how this goes.

He shuts his eyes with a coy smile.] Alright! They're tightly shut!

[Wow, Vash, so unfaithful. Allow Makie to punish you by opening her door and spraying you in the face with her spraybottle. >:|]

PTPPFPT! GAH! WET! IT'S WET! I know we were good together Makie but hold back a little bit! [Vash says with a laugh as he wipes some of the water out of his eyes.] Or people might start getting the wrong impression of you if you slobber all over me like that!

Aw, don't worry about that! Everyone in all of Luceti knows you're one of the best kissers in all the land! [It would have been the best, but now that belongs to Fluttershy. Sadly she may not yet realize that dating Vash means he's about to tell just about everyone he meets that very fact.]

I surely hope not everyone. [brb picturing her son's traumatised face. Also, a big fluffy towel sort of foofs into his face gently.] Here. Come on inside.

[Vash walks in with a grin, starting to dry his face.] Yup! Everyone and anyone! Sorry, Makie, but you're a heart breaker of even men you haven't met yet!

I'll be sure they mark that on my gravestone, then. Beer or soda?

[He hated it when she's morbid, even if it's a joke.] Beer, please. I think you owe me one anyway after getting me all wet!

[Luckily she rarely is. Most often with Vash, actually.] Beer it is. Gimme a sec. Just drape the towel in the bathroom when you're done. [You know where it is. 8| Into the kitchen she goes.]

Alright. [And know it he does. Almost too well. He heads into the bathroom and hangs up the towel. Checking out that his hair isn't too big of a mess before he heads into the kitchen to meet up with Makie.] So, besides drenching poor, defenseless Avon salesmen what have you been up to?

Oh, you know. Sitting around. Trying to find new hobbies. [There's a certain amount of snark there, because she can't do much these days.] Living vicariously through my son and his friends. The usual.

You should get out more and live vicariously through yourself! If you're just lacking company I've recently found I have a lot more times on my hands.

I can't, Vash. [This boundless optimism of his...] Forget I'm infectious? I go to a movie and cough once, I could infect six people. Not that movies are really in my budget anyway.

We could find a seat in the back and if you wore a mask it would probably be alright. Probably.

[Maybe.

He sighs, running his fingers through his long hair quickly. He hated not being able to do anything to help like this.]

Do you think... maybe if you saw better doctors something could be done? I could talk to my brother. I'm sure I could get a loan at the brotherly discount front him. [If he begged. Not to mention work for Capsule Corp for the rest of his life for free, but for Makie it was worth it.

Of course this is an offer he's probably made before, but what else could he do?]

[She re-emerges from the kitchen, tossing him an unopened bottle of beer.]

I appreciate it, but I already have a good doctor. He's starting me on a new treatment this week-- it's experimental, but it might improve things.

[The problem isn't the doctor. It's the cost. Oh, and the small fact that the chance of a proper cure is near impossible. That too.]
