Post-Event Blues

Who: Everybody, everybody!
What: The battle is won. Now what?
When: The eleventh, twelfth, and onward
Where: Luceti
Summary: With Zompano dead and the cultists routed, Luceti is restored. Kind of.
Rating: F for Feels

On the eleventh, things were slowly breaking down. Memories of their true lives were breaking through. The village, scarred by the battle with the cultists, began to rebuild itself. Community buildings that had vanished were returned to their rightful places. The battle dome was uncovered from the earth that had covered it. Hundreds and hundreds of fake homes slowly faded away. Paved roads gave way to trees and grass. It was an incredible sight for anyone who was willing to sit aroun and watch it happen.

Things wouldn't be easy for the villagers, though. The memories perpetuated by the last ten days would not be easily removed. The feelings and hatreds it had created would take time to conquer and remove. Perhaps, in a way, that was Zompano's nastiest trick of all. The village itself may heal from his invasion, but it would take far more than a few Shifts to fix the people left behind.

Towards the end of the day, their wings returned. Much like some of the buildings, they seemed to just reappear, as if they had never been gone. Their barcodes became visible again as a singular reminder that they were, ultimately, just the property of another entity who as a whole were not much better than Count Zompano.

By the twelfth, the village looked as though nothing had ever happened. Sure, the contents of buildings might have been messed up or destroyed during the battles, but things were otherwise as they were supposed to be. The night before, people would have had to find their old beds to go sleep in, as they no longer possessed the old ones granted to them in another life.

The village was peaceful.

Modly Note: That wraps up the event. As noted in the prose above, you have the option to play up the after effects of the event more than in other ones. While it won't have the same impact universally, the Shift was constructed in such a way that people may have difficulty shaking off the emotions they developed during the event. In effect, it was a cruel send off to Luceti so they would have to deal with the loathing and hatred that came with the less desirable parts of it. Of course, that means the feelings of familial bonds will also persist for awhile as well. It's up to you, as players, to decide how much or little to play with it!

[Somehow, when it happened, he knew that Saori was the one that had defeated Zompano- he'd felt it, a familiar energy that also flowed into his own from a blessing on his chest, one that he finally knows about now that his memories had been returned to him.

He stops by House 44 instead of going to the hospital, it would be quieter and there would be less people about, the way he liked it. He floats to the top of the tower, landing softly on the roof, spotting her; and with hands thrust into the pockets of his jacket, he walks over silently, studying her and surveying her condition.]

So it seems the bones of gods break as well. Don't tell me he got those shots in on you easily. [Vegeta's best way of saying how are you doing. It's really weird, but he's weird.]
windandrain: (Flirty)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[The blessing gives him away well before his arrival, and she's done her best to make herself somewhat presentable for the prince. A blanket draped over her broken legs, her arms folded neatly in front of her, and her book closed and out of the way.

The greeting is as expected, and she smiles weakly.]

If a god tells you their invincible, then they're lying. I've never claimed anything of the sort, you know. [Shaking her head, she gestures to a chair, inviting him to sit.] And no, he was a strong opponent. Not the strongest I've fought, even here, but it was certainly a good fight given the circumstances. [She declines to mention that if she'd had her memories, things would've been over much faster. That seems a moot point, really.]
misterbrief: (Perhaps)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-15 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't bother to sit. He'll stand until he's ready to sit, if that ever happens.] You know, you could have saved a little for me. But he was already dead by the time I could get to the square. [He isn't being totally serious, though he's doing an awful job at hiding his jealousy, and his tone reflects that.]
windandrain: (Modern Hong Kong Skyline)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-15 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[She huffs a faint laugh.] If I'd waited much longer, I might've been the dead one. It was one of those kinds of fights, where momentum counts.

[He knows the ones.]

But with the two of us, it hardly would've been fair.
misterbrief: (heh. this isn't the end now is it)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-18 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. No, it wouldn't of been, would it. [His smile couldn't be more smug.] That degenerate fool got what he deserved. I've had quite enough of everything having mind-altering abilities. I was hoping I'd of been through with all that, but it doesn't seem any of us are so lucky.

[BECAUSE REALLY THIS SHIT FOLLOWS HIM EVERYWHERE, IT'S SOME SERIOUS BULLSHIT]
windandrain: (Flirty)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-18 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no it doesn't. [She leans back and looks up at the afternoon sky]

He was insane, you know. Kept rambling about how we'd personally wronged him. He had the nerve to call me a mouse, even.
misterbrief: (you're serious?)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-19 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure we can give him a reason to believe that we've wronged him. I'll make sure of it the next time he shows that ugly mug of his. [His eyebrow raises. He'd never think to call her a mouse, so that's a new one to him. Maybe a walking blow dryer or a portable battery, but not a mouse.]

Just as he had the nerve to give me the most idiotic brother in the entire enclosure. I'd take my real brother over that moron any day.

windandrain: (Smiling)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-19 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I made certain he knew my face. He'll be back, too.

[She rests her hands under her head and looks at him. This time, there's a bit of sadness in her voice.]

I had decent siblings, myself. Barnaby, Hinata, and Neji were sweet. Though, it's strange. I've never had any real ones, in this life. At least, not siblings by blood.
misterbrief: (um what)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-19 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He hears it. Vegeta didn't have to endure the pain that she did, being as he had his family here as it was. And thankfully that hadn't changed. At least, not until he gets home from this meeting and finds Bulma gone.]

[He hadn't spent enough time with Tarble to really comment, he's felt like he hasn't really had relatives anyway his whole life, not that he cared much about it anyway until semi-recently. But one name catches his attention.]

Neji? You mean the boy that cheated on my daughter during that ridiculous week?!
windandrain: (Query)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-19 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[She blinks in surprise. What with everything that'd happened since then...]

Goodness. Yes, I suppose it's the same boy. I'd forgotten, with the battle and the injuries and everything.
misterbrief: (silently angry)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-20 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[His fingers are just tapping furiously on his arm. He's still getting over some of the things that happened during that week, even though it might not have been traumatic for him like a lot of other people.]

That little ingrate, when I see him I'm going to clean his clock. [He starts pacing back and forth, obviously incredibly irritated at the thought. He'll get over it...eventually.]
windandrain: (Neutral Eyes Left (Large))

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-20 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't do that. He's just a stupid boy, and I gave him a rather stern lecture myself. [Not really, but it was stern enough.] I understand the third party there was one of his enemies, even. Well, one of his enemies in this life.
misterbrief: (dude srs)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-20 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He growls, not really caring about whatever personal problems the boys had between themselves. As far as he's concerned, they could both drown and he wouldn't care. But at least he stops pacing.]

Fine. [He finally grabs that seat, setting it next to Saori and plopping himself in it. Probably best to talk about something to get his mind off of that boy he wants to kill.]

Anyway. Having siblings is nothing special. Not that I'd know much either about it. I've seen my brother once since the day he was born. [He wasn't going to comment, but he's really, really gotta not think about murder.]
windandrain: (Are you Serious?)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-20 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Spend a few centuries without a family and you might think differently. [She shrugs] But that's not really important. That whole thing, it was a mess. But honestly, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt how...unprepared our minders are.
misterbrief: (Put them in with the luggage.)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
You expected anything more than that from them? Don't be ridiculous. Honestly I'm surprised that we're back to our normal selves already, thank goodness their little plan had a major flaw. I still can't believe they made me into some paper pusher behind a desk. What a waste, you'd think they could of at least given me a proper profession.
windandrain: (Surely you jest)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-22 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I think that given the fact that the enemy mastermind was here would've spurred them to action. It would've been better if they'd captured him rather than forcing me to kill him and set him free. [Even if she's glad she killed him.]

and yes, I agree. You should've been a boxer at least. Something athletic. But they made me into an accountant...and it's a bit distressing, suddenly knowing how to manage money.
misterbrief: (heh. this isn't the end now is it)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-25 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
You? An accountant? Hah, I should have hired you to manage how much of our money was going to my daughter's shopping sprees. It's unsurprising how that didn't change from one reality to the next. Or to keep me from spending it on her.

[At least he's smiling now...?]
windandrain: (Neutral Eyes Left (Large))

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-25 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I could've done that. But then, in that life we both had entirely too much money. [She laughs, mirroring his smile] It's still a bit strange, remembering how to do all of these things. It's not fading, so I suppose it may stick around. Not that I'll ever have much use for accounting.

[After all, where can she say she went to school...]
misterbrief: (Back in the old days)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-25 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's no different than what I'm used to, as far as money is concerned. In fact, I daresay my family had less money in that false life than the real one. Heh, perhaps when I return home, I can surprise the lot of them with what I learned of business. Not that I've any real interest in running the company, but I'm sure Bulma and Trunks will be shocked to learn I can do it better than them.

[He can see teh look on their faces now. Too bad he won't remember any of it if and when he's returned home.]
windandrain: (Neutral Sunset)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-25 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Saori can't help but snort a laugh] I've never really worried about money either. I own treasures at home that are beyond valuable, so whenever money becomes an issue, I just go into my vault and sell some trinket. You'd be surprised how much money people will pay for a sword forged four hundred years ago.

You've mentioned this company before. Your wife's right? What does she sell, that makes it so profitable?
misterbrief: (Look.)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I won't say that humans don't have a strange fascination with artifacts that don't hold any power whatsoever. [He shrugs, he's never been a historian and won't ever claim to be.]

Yes, it's a company that specializes in advanced technology. Their claim is a product called DynoCaps, allowing one to carry around ridiculous things such as cars, spaceships, and other large things in your pocket. If you can think of it, I guarantee it's been engineered into a small little capsule.
windandrain: (Bemused)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-26 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in this case it's sheer rarity and tradition. A lot of the old swords were melted down during a war between some human nations. They're a symbol of family and power, so some people still want them. Mostly fools who've never held one before, but still.

[That gets a blink]

Huh. That's...certainly fascinating. Is there a way to get them back into the capsule?
misterbrief: (Default)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-26 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Part of the design is a button located somewhere on the object that makes it...poof back into the capsule. I can't describe it any better than that. [Because Dragon Ball land is fucking magic and they don't even know it]

I know it sounds strange but it does work. There isn't anything my wife can't invent, and more often than not comes up with a lot of ideas and machines that help us in battle.
windandrain: (Warm Grin)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-26 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen stranger things, but they all worked through magic. Men becoming bison, mountains growing legs to fight, even bears suddenly sprouting wings.

[America is a strange ass place...]

But technology like that sounds marvelous.
misterbrief: (Oh look two androids.)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-08-28 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Two of those aren't as strange as you think, but mountains suddenly sprouting legs is a new one. Though it doesn't do any good when you're made of a substance that shatters just as easily as glass. [Well, maybe for him.]

But yes, it is. Do you remember when I told you about my tail and how it would help me achieve a new level of power if I had it? Well, that very technology allowed me to possess it for a short time. It regrew it back, but unfortunately here, I don't have access to such a machine.
