Summary: Well. So sometimes the Malnosso actually do legitimate experiments that aren't heaped in heavy plot. This is one of those times. Look, just go read the mod post, would you?

Aren't all towns owned by someone?

[Honest question, he doesn't know who owns Tokyo, but he's sure someone does, because even before they began to run away and rent a place to sleep or stay for a while, his mother still had to pay to be able to use things. Even in her own house, so that means someone else was the owner of those things, right?]

At home, I suppose you could say that. But this seems like a village full of people just like us.

[But that doesn't mean one of them can't be hiding something.]

Maybe the owner is Malnosso, I was told that he was the one who brought us all here. Maybe they brought us so someone would live in his town.

[Ikki shrugs, not terribly concerned about it beyond that he wants to go back with his brother, or he his brother brought to him. He doesn't really have a home anymore and he has no problem setting here so long as it's alongside Shun.]

He must be very lonely, then. But that still doesn't make it all right.

[Despite that, she's pretty uncaring about the whole new town thing. She's not sure what will happen when she goes home. Maybe her mother will finally have had enough, after the dogs thing.]

Why do you think he must be lonely?

[Ikki hadn't considered that, he had just thought he was selfish, like all rich people.]

Someone by himself who brings a lot of people to live with him is lonely. [That makes sense. But after a moment, she adds:] And crazy.

Uhm... I think he is more crazy than lonely. And he could have asked, I wouldn't mind to be here if my brother was with me. We don't have anywhere else to go, and there are no orphanages here so it's cool.

[At least better than the alternative, but not if he doesn't have his brother with him.]

Maybe your brother will turn up here too.

[Ikki nods, looking down at his reflection in the water.]

I'm trying to find a way back, if I do so I can just go and pick him and return here together.

[He turns to look at her.]

What's your name? Mine's Ikki.

Makie. [She glances down at the water.] I hope you get the chance.

What about you? Are you going to try to find the way back or stay here?

[She hadn't given much thought to it.]

...I should go home. My mother will be sad.

[On the other hand, if she doesn't, maybe her mother can go home.]

If I was separated from her like this I'm sure my mother would have been sad and worried too.

[Ikki nods in agreement before he pauses and frowns.]

Is she healthy?

Mm. So far. She works hard.

I wonder if she's noticed I'm gone. She'll worry.

That's good, my mother wasn't very healthy so when she worried it was bad for her. If your mother is healthy she will be fine even if she worries.

[Pause.]

I'll let you know if I find a way out of here, so you can return with her soon.
