[Mai can only give a faint shrug of a shoulder at the questions.]

Since I was maybe ten or so. Or that's when I started practicing on my own anyhow. If you're talking about fighting as in being trained, I never have.
fantheflame: (Curious)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Curiouser and curiouser.]

Depending, practice on your own can be more important than formal training. I've done both since I was six.

What do you use?
maipokerface: ([073] You are not a robot)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Knives mostly.

[She raises up a hand here, the edge of one of her spring-loaded holsters shown around her wrist.]

And a few other things.
fantheflame: (Hmm~)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sasuke can guess at the purpose of the wrist holster immediately, even if its design is different from what he's used to.]

Interesting.

[Genuinely.]

I have some experience with throwing knives and stars. Recently I prefer the sword.

[Among other things.]
maipokerface: ([078] So bright before they lose it all)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mai lowers her hand after that, brows raising a touch.]

Are stars the same things as shuriken? I borrowed a few of those when I first arrived.
fantheflame: (Amused)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly the same. [Now he's curious who she's met, but he won't push that just yet.]

How did you like them?
maipokerface: ([010] little miss apprehensive)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
They aren't too bad. Different weight, different feel. I've gotten a little more used to directing them.

[After practicing on the walls of her room for days on end.]
fantheflame: (Curious)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a lot of experience with shuriken. Care to practice sometime, once we're out of this candy-colored madhouse?

[Might be nice to have a training partner who doesn't think he's going to kill them the minute their back is turned. Or ask endless stupid questions about his life.]
maipokerface: ([049] showing people how little we care)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a pause while Mai studies him a moment. Then she offers a faint smile, the first of the conversation and one not so tinged in sarcasm or wanting to border more of a smirk than a smile.]

You'd have to be more entertaining that what I usually practice on.
fantheflame: (Heh)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh.

[His own smile is still half-smirk... but for that, it's pretty genuine compared to previous. Sasuke can honestly say he likes this girl's attitude.]

I'd like to think so.

[Nevermind that he doesn't know what she usually practices on. His assessment stands regardless.]
maipokerface: ([039] more than empty conversations)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd question your self-esteem if you didn't.
fantheflame: (Grin)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sasuke laughs outright at that.]

Why? What do you usually practice on?
fantheflame: (Heh)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[A snort.]

I'd question my self-esteem too.

You don't use the battle dome?
maipokerface: ([008] by keeping her heart protected)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her brows raise a bit.]

I haven't been here that long. What's the battle dome?
fantheflame: (Curious)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The one piece of bullshit nonsense that's actually useful in the enclosure.

You're Luceti?

[He won't care if she's not, but it'll make it harder to know exactly what her bubble is like otherwise. Harder to practice after this "moon" bullshit is over, too.]
maipokerface: ([083] Can you turn my power off?)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
... Yes?

[Is there any other? Is this like nations and tribes? ...She should really read that guide, shouldn't she. Frankly she hadn't cared enough to, not after just being whisked into the village and then whisked out again to this piece of stupidity.]
fantheflame: (Dilemma)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a guide you should read if you haven't. I can send it to you if no one has. There are other prison-villages like ours; they call them enclosures. Apparently everyone from all of them is mingling here.

Anyway. [Back to what's obviously more important.] There's a large dome on the edge of town. It has chambers that display illusions - good ones. Tactile as well as audiovisual. They're useful for battle simulation.
maipokerface: ([004] miss unafraid)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
More high technology, huh.

[Mai settles back in her seat, mulling this over. She isn't sure how much she likes all of this technology, aside from Asami's glove. That intrigued her.
Then she nods a bit, adding.]

That sounds better than doing absolutely nothing. I'll go give it a look once this idiocy is over.
fantheflame: (Neutral)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what they're calling it. I don't believe there isn't some kind of supernatural manipulation going on.

"Absolutely nothing" is unfortunately popular. It's good to know I'm not the only one bored out of my head by it.
maipokerface: ([027] without crawling in the dirt)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's popular everywhere, mostly because you have people complacent in letting others do their thinking - and their acting - for them.
fantheflame: (Annoyed)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sasuke makes a distinctly unpleasant face at that.]

That's the truest thing ever spoken. I wonder how much closer we'd be to escaping this place if fewer people were content to do nothing.
maipokerface: ([062] she's cold and she's cruel)

[personal profile] maipokerface 2013-11-05 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Here she offers a shrug, her own expression bland.]

I don't typically like dwelling on fairy tales that will never come true.

[She reaches for her tea cup.]

The majority of people are self-serving. If it works for them then that's all they care about. You'll never have fewer people content because that's what serves them well.
fantheflame: (Dilemma)

[personal profile] fantheflame 2013-11-05 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Honestly, there's not a lot Sasuke can say in response to that. She's hit the nail on the head. Instead he shrugs, and lifts his own tea cup to her words before having a sip.]

More action for those willing to take it, then.
