[Quinn's obviously going to be spending "family time" with Daria, but she'll mostly be out and about! Leaving little presents for friends (except one that she wants to give In Person), little cookie or candy baskets for random strangers...all in the name of good holiday spirit! Feel free to approach her if she doesn't approach you first. Holidays are heaven for social butterflies! And yes, she's noticed the mistletoe so if any cute guys or pretty girls WAIT NO SHE MEANS YES wanna pucker up...~ So far she's completely naive to what it does aside from making people kiss.]

[Hikaru is out and about, as can be expected. Well fed, too -- plenty of leftovers from the numerous dinner offers he and Kaoru managed to scrounge up the day before. They got enough, really, to keep them eating well-made food without going out for a week.

It's late in the afternoon, as he's leaving a shop with a new bolt of fabric under one arm, that he sees the co-founder of the fashion club here. He gives a slight wave.]

Hey, Quinn.

[Unfortunately... yeah. That's mistletoe hanging above them on the awning of the shop. Though Hikaru doesn't yet know that's the cause of his mischievous little smile.]

Oh! [waves and jogs over-or rather, runs as fashionably as she can in her heavy boots. Clomping noises are so geeky.] Hey, Hikaru! Fancy running into you here!

Always on the lookout for some good stuff. Like this.

[He nods to the bolt of fabric. A very nice, pale pink cashmere.]

It'll make a great sweater. Or maybe we'll do something a little more original with it.

[Quinn has to will herself not to squeal out loud at how lovely that fabric is! Her favorite color and one of her favorite fabrics!] Ohhh, I wish I'd thought to pick some up before Christmas! Hm, but maybe it's not too late! I still need to figure out sewing, of course, but I can show it to Bulla and we could do something together and- [she cuts herself off, blushing] Sorry, I'm babbling.

...No. [He really doesn't mean to be rude, but. Well. That arched eyebrow and almost horrified look says it all.] You don't sew with cashmere until you know what you're doing.

[Anything else is a sin.

...But then he hears Kaoru (or is it Haruhi? it could be either...) in his head telling him that sounds mean and that he's supposed to be nice to club members when they're girls.]

But I owe you a Christmas present. From a club member to a club member.

[Oops. For such a fashion know-it-all she forgot that little detail. Considering how little she knows about sewing, though...]

Right, right! I-I was just...testing you! Yes! [Nice save, Quinn.]

Oh, did you like the one I left for you? I hope the color's right, I just couldn't help but thinking of you when I saw that shade of blue.

[Plus Hikaru's just harsh. He'll find ways to pick on anyone, even the people he legitimately calls "friends."]

Blue's always good. [A little dull, predictable, but... Staples aren't bad. There's a reason they're pretty common. Besides, he's legitimately trying to be nice right now.] Kaoru and I really like it.

I'm glad. [Yeah, they are, but they're a lifesaver when you're stuck!] How's your holiday been?

It's been okay. It was... not fun, not having mom and grandma here. And our little sister. But. [He smiles then.] At least I had Kaoru.

Besides, we got lots of offers to eat with people here, so that was nice.

It is kind of lonely not having your whole family here. Sure, Mom and Dad are super embarrassing and my aunts fight every time they come over and my grandmothers are old-fashioned, but they're family.

Hahaha! That's what they call a silver lining, right? It sounds nice. [Quinn's not a big "eating" person, but the company sounds nice at least.]

Christmas is the one time of year my family doesn't do anything else.

Mom and Dad are always really busy. Which is great, I mean... it lets us live well, and we appreciate it. But we don't see them a lot, you know?

So when Christmas comes... It's really the only time all six of us are together.

I can relate all too well. Mom's a high-profile lawyer and Christmas is the only day she doesn't work. [Well, technically. She does still talk to Eric at least once, but at least the calls are shorter and for once she'll sit at the table and eat with them.] And Dad...well, he's still trying to restart his career and gets angry so easily. He's always more mellow around Christmas.

[After finding herself needing to run another errand, Utena only approaches Quinn after making sure she doesn't see any mistletoe as well. So far, so good, and she waves at her.]

Hey, Quinn!

[Come on, Malnosso. Just spare her today, all right? It's her birthday!]

Oh, Utena! [waves] I was hoping I'd get to see you sometime. Since I know we've both been busy with the holidays and all.

Ah, really? You were really hoping to see me? [That's kind of her.] Well, that's good. I know it's nice to see you again, anyway.

Of course! Who wouldn't be hoping to see a friend right now? [smiles] It's so pretty out, isn't it?

Yeah, it really is! [She smiles a little.] I'm glad it's not too bad on my birthday.

Oh, it's your birthday? [Oops. Being friends means knowing each other's birthdays, right?] Er...I mean! Happy birthday, Utena!

It's not really too big of a deal to me--I never have a really big celebration on my birthday. I don't really talk about it, so I'm not surprised you don't know. So really, the fact you didn't know is okay.

[Because that wasn't a smooth save at all, Quinn. At all.]

But thank you for the birthday wishes anyway. You're a really nice girl.

Oh...well, I still owe you a present. [why did her cheeks just turn red? Utena's a great girl, but...]

Eh? Oh, no. You don't have to get me anything. Really, it's okay... [She laughs awkwardly. It's really no big deal.]

Are you sure...? [She just wants to make this girl happy and it's making her very flustered!]

If you really want to, I guess I wouldn't mind... but... you know, you just don't need to go out of your way.
