You can limit yourself all you like. I'll not only be figuring out this mess, but taking care of matters as well. You can just sit tight and let me take care of things.

[He doesn't feel Cliff's in any position to be doing anything right about now. Besides, he's strong enough for most of the people in Luceti anyway, he thinks.]

What-- hey, what's that supposed to me?!

[Vegeta was strong, but there was no way that Vegeta could break this world. He tried, and it didn't work.]

[misterbrief]

I'm saying that you're in no position to be putting yourself out on the battlefield looking like that. Use your brain.

[He folds his arms. And that's that!]

Are you sayin' I can't take care of myself?!

[Because it sure sounded like you were saying that.]

[misterbrief]

You know just as well as I that some of the tougher soldiers of theirs would rip you apart in your condition. Don't be stupid Cliff, you're going to have to go through some extensive work on yourself if you even hope to be where you were previously.

I know!

[He bit back any more protests after the sharp outcry and averted his gaze, breathing deeply in a conscious attempt to calm himself and mentally back away from the fighting stance he had taken in his frustration. Hands, clenched into fists by his side and ready to lash out in a second's notice in defense of his pride, relaxed by effort of his will alone.

Whether he wanted to admit and accept it or not, Cliff knew that Vegeta had a point.]

Look. I know all this-- alright? What are ya trying to get at?

[misterbrief]

Just making sure you don't die. I don't do that for many people, you know. [He stands as solidly as he did before, despite Cliff's taken fighting stance.]

I've got some simulations you can use for that new body of yours. Some of the same ones I give Fayt. I figure it'll do you some good instead of lazing around and not preparing.

[A sharp look, Cliff swallowed yet another protest when he saw how sincere Vegeta was. There were no taunts and no harsh commentary from the man. He was serious.]



Who said anything about being lazy? [He had kept up with training, but his usual scenarios were more than he could manage in this form. Seeing the extent of his drop on strength was beyond frustrating for him, but he had always held the opinion that these Shifts weren't permanent.]

...This is nuts, man. [This, coming from a man whose fought angels and dragons.] Could ya... what have you got?

Hmf. [Turning to the console, he punches up a sim.]

It's quite simple, it's a simulation at two times Earth's gravity with these machines that harness the power near what would be equivalent to a standard energy blaster. The beams bounce between each contraption, and you must avoid them and reach the deactivation button on each. I use this often myself back at home, except the gravity is much, much higher, of course. The results of the training far outweigh the dangers. But here, the Dome comes with a safeguard, unlike what I'm used to.

[He'll let Cliff inspect it all he likes on the console.] Pretty good, huh.

This...is damn good.

[Cliff swiped his fingers across the keyboard, quickly scanning through the programming and the specs with the eyes of a programmer and engineer. There was a simplicity to the concept that leant a certain competitive edge to it. Adding more to the code would have been no problem, if he wanted to.

But, basics.]

Two times Earth's gravity's normally no problem for me. This'll be a good place to start. Calibrate the timing a bit to add multiple levels and you've got a good tool for speed drills too. Not bad~

Of course it's good, it's one of my own methods. You think I'd use some second rate training program? [He huffs, but he's over it.]

And if you really want to raise the stakes, you can bounce your own energy off of them. Incentive to make no mistakes. [Leaving out that he nearly killed himself like that once.]

Aw, man. I can imagine it.

[And the potential disaster. He saw the effects of Vegeta going at it without holding any stops, and he remembered the pain (and bruised pride) from his many spars with Mirage.

He preferred a simple, low-tech approach. This approach, though high-tech, was still incredibly simple. It was hard not to appreciate.]

Good. I'll be monitoring your progress then, just as I do for our other blue-haired friend. [His next sentence would have been 'well let's get started then' but there was one problem.]

Though there's some other business we need to attend to Cliff, and I'm afraid you're not going to like it. [He points a finger up. Yeah.]

[Cliff regarded the little sprig of mistletoe for a moment before returning his gaze to Vegeta. Flatly:]



Neither of us are Earthlings-- it doesn't matter. 'sides, they're nuts if they think I'm kissing you.

[misterbrief]

You think I'm keen on it either? I'd almost rather die. But, I've got things to do, and at this point I think I've kissed everyone in the village. [It's super gross, man...]

So let's just get this over with so I can make my way to the restroom to clean my mouth.

[aerialassault]

Well, if we're gonna have to kiss anyway, we may as well try to make it fun...

[It was clear that he was thinking too hard about this.]

[misterbrief]

Make it fun?! What's wrong with you? [What did the mistletoe do to Cliff!?]

[Frowning.]



Just trust me on this one, okay? We'll be able to laugh about it and never speak of it again like this.

[misterbrief]

I don't care that you are currently in a woman's body, that doesn't mean that makes this any less disgusting! How in the galaxy do you even intend on making this fun?! I've got a wife, you know, and kissing anyone but her is repulsive and completely unacceptable! I've had to wash my mouth out too many times to count since this ridiculous mistletoe business started! It's humiliating!

[Can you tell he's really hated this?]

I know it is, but would ya just play along for once?!

[You're humiliated? At least you don't look like your daughter in the middle of all this!]

[His eyes close and he grits his teeth. It's not like he has much of a choice.]

Fine, but no funny business or I'll blast you. Now what's your big idea.

[Cliff gave a thoughtful hum, as if he hadn't fully thought it out.]



Yanno, how about you let me wing it? Can you just trust me?

[misterbrief]

[His mouth turns up, but whatever.]

Just do whatever you need to, but I'm serious when I say this will be the last thing you ever do if you try anything weird.

[aerialassault]

[Grinning wide:]



So, you're saying that you will? I knew you would!

[Internally holding back his own misgivings, Cliff jumped at Vegeta and wrapped his arms around the man like a little girl.]

Thank you! I knew I could count on you!

[He quickly pecked Vegeta on the cheek and squeezed him tight.

Yes, Cliff is hamming up the little girl act.]

[misterbrief]

[He is almost completely speechless at this display. Almost. But his face is contorted into some form of horror at the action, but in too much shock to shake him off.]
