Summary: Chaos! Madness! Unreasonable happenings! You know the drill. Alternatively: characters wake up and sigh because god, not this again.
Rating: Varied. Anything frisky goes to appointments as per usual, chums.

Due to the size and variation of this event, it's probably best to have several logs for it to avoid one getting overcrowded and broken. Feel free to have your characters post their own entries, of course, if you'd prefer- you're more than welcome! This is for people who like to consolidate. Another log ought to be posted around the 16th for round 2.

There is a spatial discontinuity around this place, Valka, hemming us in like a moat. I have not been able to find a way to yet cross it. Even when working with others.

[Much safer topic than anything else they could be talking about.]

[True enough, though Loki's insistent aversion to the elephant in the room is grating on her slightly. She had enough patience, though--she had dealt with Odin for centuries.]

Quite the astonishment. Loki, working with others. That is something I have not seen in quite some time.

[Unfortunately her patience didn't stop her from making pointed comments as though she were commenting on the sky.]

It is in my best interest to escape any cage before it makes me run mad, Valka.

I seemed to manage working with Thor well enough in Svartalfheim. Though perhaps that's an argument against, for it didn't do any favors for me in the end.

[The whole of the incident made Valka feel the kind of pain someone like her shouldn't feel. She watched beings die every day, and there were too many to mourn them all individually. It wasn't her place to mourn anyone, though. But losing Frigga, and then Loki so soon after, had her feeling it keenly. He had been too young, and despite his uprising Valka did not believe it was necessary for Loki to pay with his life.]

...You are eager to return? We know not what lies beyond the barrier, nor if it is even attached to our Nine Realms. Are you so certain that you will still live outside of this cage?

I am not eager to return to your world. There is nothing left for me there, quite literally. [He shrugs. Well, there actually is, and he is planning on going back and playing the game out, but he's not about to admit that.]

But there are many universes out there, it seems. Plenty still where I might live.

And do what? [It doesn't come out as an accusation, but honest curiosity. After what Loki put into motion on Midgard, she's wondering what the next thing could be. Something in the same vein, or something she would actually feel comfortable watching. With Frigga gone, Vastra felt some sense of responsibility to ask the questions Loki's mother might.]

I've yet to decide. Anything is better than endless captivity, here or in Asgard. I find the hospitality of your home lacking these days.

I cannot argue the point you are trying to make. However-- [Vastra sheathes her sword and tears her eyes away from the barrier.] --the realm I stand in, and my home, are two different things entirely.

My apologies, then.

[He laughs.] Yet I doubt where you call home would be all that hospitable either, some to that. No, I shall find my own way.

[Valka resists the urge, barely, to roll her eyes and sigh. He wasn't even being obstinate, he just wasn't putting all of the implications together perhaps.]

I was speaking of my house, Loki. Even I know not from whence I came, only that I was charged by Odin to act as gatekeeper. And knowing naught else... accepted the charge. [Without question, which seems so idiotic now, but she had been young (perhaps...?) and unaware that anything could be hidden from her.]

[She fixes Loki with another stoic look.] We all must find our own way. I only have to wonder if you will let me see you as you do it.

Hah. Such a smaller place than I considered. [He shrugs.] House and home are two different things. We both know that.

I haven't decided.
