This post is for the draftee-only portion of the Zompania draft--the day 3 death, time travel to day 1, and then the events until the arrival of the reinforcements. Be sure to use the above info post for any plotting needs you might have. Enjoy!

[A distinctive voice rang out over everything else and Souji turned, slipping through the confused crowd on the muddy field until he spotted Cliff. He was alive. It meant Fayt would be alive as well and that relieved at least a bit of his worry. With the battle not yet starting, Souji could afford a moment to slow down, keep himself distracted, and care for other people.

He drew closer to Cliff and let out a sigh of relief.]

You're alright.

Of course I am.

[Alive, but muddy and confused and very deeply disturbed by the taste of nothingness that they had all experienced for what felt like an eternity. He reached out and grabbed Souji's arm, not caring about how the dirt on his hands marred the brilliant blue, and pulled his partner in close. There were no smiles this time, but the wave of relief that washed over him was enough.

At least something was still right in this world.]

I'm alive, and I've gotta be if I'm gonna be watching over you and Fayt.

[He sighed.]

It's good that you're safe.

[He didn't mind the dirt on his haori - it was likely to get soiled anyway after all that he'd seen in the past six hours (or was it a day? more? it was hard to tell). He was more concerned about whether his friends were alright, which caused him to look around at the mention of Fayt's name.]

Where is he? We got separated after that...thing. I was looking for you both, but...

He's here-- don't worry.

[Any concern that Souji had for the young man was at least doubled on Cliff's end. Watching over a person for years has it's consequences both good and bad. Cliff didn't know what he'd do without the kid at this point.]

He's just off checking on things, that's all. No biggie.

[Souji nodded, letting a bit of the tension from his shoulders relax. Cliff wouldn't lie about Fayt's well-being. Souji knew that they had a deep bond and he'd seen how protective Cliff could be over the younger boy. If he said that Fayt was safe, then he was safe.

He returned his gaze to Cliff, unconsciously checking him for injuries.]

....What happened? Do you know how we got here?

[All Souji would find was a some bruising and scrapes underneath the streaks of mud and dirt on uncovered parts of his arms and face. It was nothing serious or worrisome-- standard brawler's injuries.

Cliff only shook his head in reply, frowning noticeably in irritation and concern.]

I wish I had a good answer for ya, [he said, catching Souji's gaze with his own.] None of it makes sense.

[He didn't like not having an answer and frowned, looking away to survey the field and the number of other Lucetians who were around. Everyone looked confused, some looked panicked, others were angry - Souji wasn't sure which one category he fell into.]

That thing from the sky - have you ever seen anything like it before?

[Cliff was angry, alright. He knew it, but he also knew that acting in his frustration wouldn't get him any closer to solving the mysteries that lurked in the shadows. The confusion he read in Souji's eyes would have to remain unanswered for the time being-- they had other, bigger concerns.]

No, I haven't. I've seen planets destroyed....but, I've never seen anything like that.

You've--

[Gods, to watch a planet be destroyed? What would that even be like?

Souji shivered involuntarily and then gripped the hilt of his sword.]

The city is back that way - I suppose we'll have orders soon. ...There has to be a way to stop what happened.

[It was terrifying, and another symptom of the deletion that threatened his world. At first he was stunned along with the rest of the crew on the ship he was aboard, but that was quickly replaced by the same frustration and anger that drove his wildest accomplishments. It wasn't something he liked talking about....but he didn't want to elaborate, not now.

Especially not to Souji. It was a universe and a millenium separated from his timeline.]

Yeah, no kiddin'. Someone's pulling the strings, Souji, and I think they'll want us to do just that.

[He frowned, still looking out toward the city. It seemed quiet now, but soon, he knew, this muddy field would become a battlefield. A large force like this couldn't just appear without someone noticing.

But more than that, he disliked the idea that anyone here had the ability to just reverse time. He may have been thankful for that now, but what if those strange things happening in the village were because of this? What sort of terrible things might people start to experience if this ability bled into their town? Into the other enclosures?]

We should move.

Find Fayt-kun and meet back up. I won't lose sight of you two again and I have a feeling the battle is about to begin again.

So do I, [Cliff replied, following Souji's gaze out over the now-quiet landscape. The difference that a little bit of time could make over an entire region was astounding even to him-- if he didn't already know, he would never epect a massive battle to break out over these lands.]

And, if that's the case, I don't wanna lose sight of either of you two either. Not again...not after all this.

I won't stray far even if I we do separate; don't worry.

[After what he'd seen before the bomb, he knew that sticking close would be difficult, but necessary.]

For now, we should find Fayt-kun and be ready. I'll go with you.
