Who: OPEN to all!
What: Movies, movies, movies! And games and food too.
When: All day Saturday, June 7th (starts 11ish)
Where: Rec Center
Summary: Ginia throws a movie marathon at the rec center for entertainment and post-draft distractions.
Rating: PG-13 for some of the movies shown, but let's keep it around here or lower.

On Thursday, flyers were posted around the village with another notification of the movie marathon and the list of movies that will be shown:

Robin Hood: Men in Tights

The Princess Bride

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Come Saturday, the list can also be found outside the rec center. Inside the center, there are tables set up filled with food: fruit and veggie platters, cookies and cake from the bakery, sandwiches, packages of popcorn (with a microwave nearby), and an assortment of packaged candy. As food begins running low, runners will be sent to the stores to bring back more. There are also drinks - water, sodas, juices, tea, and coffee. Alcohol is bring your own, but Ginia also has a small table set aside with some gin, whisky, vodka, and mixers.

Besides what seating is already in the rec center, additional chairs, large cushions, and even two beanbag chairs have been brought in. For those who want to hang out but not watch movies, there's still pool, board games, and a few deck of cards.

Enjoy, relax, and try not to think about the draft.

[For a day that's suppose to be about relaxing and having fun, Ginia finds herself busy. She's been at the rec center since the morning, getting things set up, making sure everything was working (with all the weird shifts going on, she's a bit leery), checking on food and throwing away any pieces that suddenly rot. Keeping busy is her way of keeping focused and keeping her mind off the draft.

Ginia can be found all day. A few times she'll step out to run out to get more food (or direct someone to serve as runner), but she's around. If she's not watching a movie or keeping an eye on the food and drink tables, she can also be found by the pool table.

And late into the night, don't be surprised if she's dancing along to the Time Warp or mouthing along with the songs. Old habits die hard.]

[He's not really sure about this "movie" stuff, but he's curious, so he's willing to give it a try. He could use a way to get his mind off things. And--there's food. Food is always important. Farlan settles on the sandwiches, as they have meat, and meat is his favorite. Once he has enough of them, he takes a seat. Well, how often does someone get a chance to see how people entertain themselves on other worlds? This shouldn't be too bad.]

[Deadpool had already run some simulations early on at the Battle center and had showered off, and was wearing something a little more casual, though he still wears the mask and gloves. Surprisingly nothing too outrageous, just a plaid shirt and some blue jeans. He chalks up and holds the stick as he sets up]

[All to happy to help out with the preparations and movie selections, Evan is still rather put off by the sudden changes that keep happening. Ginia had called them shifts, which made sense, but every time one happened he stared blankly at the result for a moment before sighing. C'est la vie!

Evan can be found all day when not being ordered around by Ginia. He'll greet each newcomer with a wide smile and his name before pointing out all the things that were available. Food! Drinks! Movie Seating! Pool! Board games! Cards!

When not avidly watching a movie (and singing quietly along to the music), Evan can be found playing with a deck of cards at a nearby table.]

[When Farlan arrived Evan had been busy taking care of some things that a passing shift had messed with. However, that soon taken care of, he spots the newcomer quickly enough. Seems they have helped themselves to the food already so that was good.

Evan makes his way over, before pulling up a chair next to Farlan. Luckily the opening credits were just rolling.]

Hey, welcome! My names Evan, I'm helping run this show, so, glad you could make it.

/Have to ask; do you always wear the mask and gloves?/

[A simple question out of curiosity. It's not too unusual; Kakashi always wears a face mask so hey. Ginia sets up the table for standard eight-ball before grabbing her cue stick.]

/Want to break?/

Mostly out in public, but yeah for the most part.

[He has image issues and tends to go a bit more off the deep end then usual without something to cover himself up close at hand]

Sure, but I'll have you know, I shoot a mean stick. Not as good as Tasky mind you, but he cheats with his powers anyway.

/As long as you don't cheat or knock half the balls in with one shot, we're fine. I like a good challenge./

[Well, given that Saori realizes she needs to socialize at least a little bit and is in theory loaning Ginia some of the movies, it's probably good for her to turn up. She even sits through most of the movies, focused more or less on that than the other activities. Cards are dull, pool is dull, but she might be convinced to play a board game if anyone wants to. Traditional games or more modern children's ones are a preference. After all, she's got a Hungry Hungry Hippos rivalry going with Kushina...

Throughout the day, Saori is prone to vanish for a few moments, drifting outside to get fresh air and stretch, as summer is making her generally restless temperament even more so than usual.

Food wise, she eats sparingly, preferring fruit and other sweets to any of the salty things. She has brought her own bottle of something strong smelling that she keeps on ice till the evening. Once that comes out, she's more or less drinking it like water, but seems more than fine, and happy to share as well. If someone thinks they can handle what she's got, anyway.]

[God knows the Cajun liked a good distraction, and a movie night really did fit the bill. It would help to break up tension from the draft, try and return everything to as normal as Luceti could be.

Most of the night Remy lazing around and enjoying the movies he's interested in, and for those he weren't he splits his time between the pool table and teaching any of those willing to take him on at poker a thing or two.

As Rocky Horror starts playing, he absolutely makes the most of having memorized the songs. Who didn't love the Time Warp?]

Hey, Evan, I'm Farlan.

[In spite of the whole draft thing, people here are pretty friendly compared to back home. Maybe the free food has something to do with it. It puts him in a better mood, in spite of certain unpleasant facts.]

I figured I'd give it a try. We don't have these movie things where I'm from.

[They really don't have much, now that he thinks about it.]

Thanks for putting this together, anyway.

Alright! [Kurt is trying his darndest not think about the draft; and he is all over this. He plops himself down, ready to go through all the movies. He even brings a satchel filled with some of his own DVDs in case there's time for more.

He also spends some time generally mingling, trying his best to forget the trauma of the draft as he snacks on all of the sweets. He may even try to make some sneaky passes at the alcohol.]

[A silver-haired boy in a school uniform wanders in at some point.

He has no idea what is going on.]

[Ever the good host, and thankful for Saori loaning some movies, Ginia greets the goddess when she arrives, makes small talk throughout the day, sets aside a container and some ice for Saori's bottle. It's a day to relax, for people to enjoy themselves or distract themselves however they want so Ginia doesn't linger too long.

But toward the evening, when Ginia has already finished one drink and is on her second (gimlet, heavy on gin), does she take a seat by Saori.]

/What's in the bottle?/

[Yes, Ginia had been a fine host today, and it'd been a good day all things considered. So Saori looks to the woman, a thick mug in hand and smiles. It's a little tired, but friendly. Socializing after all of that is still a chore, after all.]

Kojoro, from my home town. A...shochu. I'm...not sure exactly what the word might be. Rice and potato wine, maybe?

I was lucky to find it, I think.

[Socializing is a chore, but one Ginia pushes on with even if there's too much going on in her mind. Red's message sticks with her as much as she wishes she could ignore it. Yes, one day she is going to have to talk about things. Talk or drown in it.]

/S-H-O-C-H-U sounds right. If you find any more I'd love to try some./

Oh? Well find a cup. This bottle is enchanted, it won't run dry.

[A simple fix for limited liquid.]

[A simple fix, but quite a useful one. It certainly explains the source of water during the draft. Ginia takes a small sip from her drink before she sets it down and gets up to find a cup. She returns a few minutes later with a plastic cup and holds it out with a smile as she reclaims her spot.]

Nice to meet you Farlan.

[Hey, no harm in being friendly! Evan raises an eyebrow.]

Huh. I guess I'm so used to them being available that I never thought about not having them. Well then, you're in for some fun. Just let me know if you have any questions. I may not be in the movie business, but I do know somethings.

[A grin.]

Well, it wasn't just me, but you're welcome. I'll pass along your thanks to Ginia as well. Beside, I think we all deserve a little fun and relaxation, don't you?

[Saori is, admittedly, a little reticent to pour it into a plastic cup. But...all the same she will, filling it about half full.]

[And she'll take a drink from her own cup.]

[Understandable, but clean glasses are a bit short at the moment. You make do with what you have. Even Ginia's cocktail is in a plastic cup instead of a proper glass.

Ginia raises the cup - cheers - before taking a slow sip.

Strong, very strong, but also good. Ginia swallows and nods her approval.]

[Saori throws back the rest of her cup and nods back.]

Thoughts? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Is it too strong?

[Ginia takes another sip before she sets the cup down to free her hands.]

/It's pretty strong. I can drink a lot, but I'm not sure I'd want to slug back shots of that. Very good though./

Well, take it slow then. [There's just a hint of pride in her voice, that someone's complimenting a brew from her hometown.]

So...um...what is this movie about? Jurassic Park?

[The pride is well-deserved; it's a good drink. And as an occasional bartender and someone who appreciates good drinks, it's definitely top shelf.]
